All their comments have been positive. Most want to know what I'll be using it for. I think some wonder if it will be used for commercial purposes which is not my intent.

I looked at both options and have decided to upgrade the service to the house to 320 amps and feed the shop from that meter. I can't imagine needing more power than that, but if I do I can always run a new meter at that point.

I saw the name when you pointed out the ink jetted job information on some parts earlier in the thread.

I'm a Far Side fan and that triggered the thought of this image when your 48" door was mentioned.

It's a Storm Shelter and I thank my fellow GJ friends for paying for half of it. The County I live in was administering a Federal Grant that covered half the cost for new storm shelters. My cost was about $1,800. Even though we've not used it in the 18 months we've lived here, it keeps the wife happy knowing it's there.

I'd guess only about 10% of my neighbors have shelters. They're kind of like parachutes. If you need one and don't have one, you're too late.

It's time to run power.

This is where we're starting, a normal 200 amp Residential Service.

A new meter base and a 200 amp disconnect box that will feed the shop.

With much coordination with our electrical provider and the electrician, this phase is complete. The next phase will be running a conduit from the disconnect box up through the attic, down the back wall of the house and underground to the shop.

Yes, it's the Utility Model.

Mueller charged $2,622 for the materials and the most of the erectors added $1 to 2K to their price to install it.
