Came across this Ferret F-3 Speed Tee T-Handle Speed Driver in a box of miscellany. Can't find a date code per se, I've seen it in a 1939 Catalog. Wondering what the general range this was made. Has it been part of any set offerings, or always an extra?

From 26 or so up to 40s. I have never found one with a date code.

Found an early pair of Vacuum-Grip needle-nose pliers at the flea market this morning. 8" OAL. These have robust jaws that are as long as the handles, a wire hole in the jaws, and also a longitudinal pin grip (a groove in each jaw) in the very tip. No 597. Newport, PA under the pivot. Single row of suction cups. Forged Steel Products for sure, but nowhere else as appropriate to post them.

Here are this weekend’s Snap-on finds and my second Par X tool. The universal 5/8” spark plug socket went right into my regular toolbox.

Can anyone weigh in on whether Snap-On produced impact sockets for Ingersoll-Rand? The font looks all the world as early Snap-On, and the nomenclature seems shared, as the SO socket is a P-240 & the IR is a P-260 (different sizes)

I’m not sure who made them but I would bet that they came out of the same factory. I would think that Snap-on is most likely.

I purchased a Blue Point XS1416 Boxocket wrench today. It has a 1932 date code. Also, it appears to have an incorrect patent number. The Blackmar patent number is 1,424,069. The patent number appearing on my wrench is 1424069-1. The hyphen and the one (-1) appearing at the end of the patent number appearing on my wrench should not be present. Earlier in this thread, Private Lugnutz posted a pic of his 1931 XS1618 Boxocket. The correct Blackmar patent number appears on his wrench. A pic of his wrench appears below (image #7).

Here are pics of the Blue Point XS1214 Boxocket wrench I purchased today. According to the alloy-artifacts website, Snap On began manufacturing the Blue Point XS series of short double box end offset wrenches in 1928. The XS1214 Boxocket wrench will fit 3/8" and 7/16" fasteners. My wrench is marked "Boxocket" on one side and ""XS1214" on the other side. The sizes of the box ends are not marked.

Snapmom, when I performed a Google search for "1424069-1," I discovered that you had posted on the CollectingSnapOn website on Thursday October 21, 2010 at 4:22 a.m. your observation for the X series of Blue Point wrenches that, "most of the wrenches were stamped (pat no 1424069) or (pat no 1424069-1)." You are familiar with the pat no 1424069-1 markings, I see.

I noted that keykeeper's Snap-On Buick Cylinder Head Stud Bolt wrench, which appears on page 6 of this thread, and which you identified, also is marked with a 1424069-1 patent number.

Your knowledge of Blue Point and Snap On tools is vast. I appreciate your comments on my posts. I wonder, do you ever sleep?

I bought another Snap On "Alien logo" this morning. It is a 1954 XS2024 5/8" x 3/4" double box end offset wrench. I would like to have a complete set of SO Alien logo wrenches. Unfortunately, I have no idea how many wrenches would be in the set.

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate your attachment of a page from the 1953 catalog. I have attached a page from the 1955 catalog. The collectingsnapon website does not have any images from a 1954 catalog.

I have seen very few images of Alien logo wrenches. I own only two of them. One of them was made in 1954. The other was made in 1955. I am not aware that SO made wrenches with Alien logos in 1953. Both of the wrenches I own are XS models (double broached). There are 7 wrenches in the XS607 dwarf boxocket set. It is reasonable to assume that SO sold the set of wrenches with matching logos (maybe not). I am on the hunt for 5 wrenches to complete the set.

As you know, SO made very few Boxocket wrenches with Alien logos during the 1950's. I have posted pics of a 1954 XI1618 midget single hex Boxocket wrench with the typical underlined logo usually found on a 1950's Boxocket wrench.

I would be interested in acquiring a single hex dwarf boxocket set and a midget boxocket set with the Alien logo if they were made. I have seen no images of of a single hex boxocket wrench or of a midget boxocket wrench with an Alien logo. Please post pics of a single hex boxocket wrench a midget boxocket wrench with Alien logos if you are able. Thank you.

I encourage other GJ members to post their pics of SO tools with Alien logos, as well.

I found some Snap-on items at an estate sale today in San Rafael, CA. One of the items was this wrench sleeve. I did a tiny bit of research on it and it looks like it held the Vee open end wrenches. I have one so I imagine that it will take years to complete it at my current rate.

Snapmom, if you are referring to the catalogs we recently discussed regarding the subject of double box end wrench sets, I believe that the 1953 catalog is Catalog U and the 1955 catalog is Catalog V. Do you agree?

I would appreciate some help.

This box appears to be very well made. It may have been made or sold by Snap On; however, I have been unable to find a similar box pictured or illustrated in any of the early SO catalogs posted on the collectingsnapon website. The box measures 19" by 6.75 by 2". The inside length is 18.5". The large compartment tapers from 5.5" to 4.5". The smaller compartment tapers from 1.75" to .75".

Does anyone know who made it?

Not super up on snap on. The color on the inside of original maybe a good starting point for IDing the box. That color looks like Wright from the war generation productions. I had a 3/8" wright set made for the Air Corps that had the same color. Box was unmarked but given the whole set was there an very close date codes I would have to guess it was it's original. I know OTG has a similar set.

Yes, I had the wrong years, I am getting old. Just trying to point out that there is not a 54.

Not snap on. Wright sets came in a different layout.

This looks like it could be a snap on, snap on had these made, so it could be a different. Usually this type box had a label showing the snap on name

I found several greasy Snap-on tools at an estate sale on Friday. I finally got most of them cleaned up.
