Thank you for the quick reply, Lugz. I don't believe that my breaker bar was made by Snap On. I posted the question here because I believe that the experts on this thread may be able to identify the manufacturer. I purchased the breaker bar because I believe that it may be a useful tool to have in my toolbox.

It is part of the proto family contract productions. I thought it was Penens Corp but now after this weekend it very well could be ArtCraft. Check the garage sale thread as a set was just posted. I think the letter is for the drive size.
R is 1/2"
P is 1/4"

Looking for a Plomb 3061 Pebble Open End.

I own a 1/2 offset breaker bar that, because of the bend, somewhat resembles the No. 1 breaker bar Snap On manufactured in the 1920's. If it did not have the bend, my breaker bar would closely resemble the breaker bars Snap On manufactured during the 1940's. My breaker bar is 16" long. It is marked R-34 - Made in U.S.A. - ALLOY. Does anyone know who made it?

Is that the one that has been on eBay for a while? Or do you have another one like that?

Or unintentionally. The only hinge handle I have ever seen with a bend was a one-hand speeder, and those are much more elaborate bends. I could be wrong. It could be a blind spot for me. See what others say.

It is an odd spot for a bend. It would almost have to be put there deliberately.

Not to go further into a Plomb Empire rabbit hole on a Snap-on thread, but all the 1/2-inch drive pieces in my PENENS-branded Master Wrench set have 16XX numbers. None of them have R- numbers. Not sure, but I think Roy may be right about it being Fleet-branded, other/contract (e.g., Artcraft-) branded, or non-branded products. (EDIT: How are those tools you took photos of branded, Otg?) I think we have had that discussion on a few different threads. I'd have to dig them up to try to straighten it out.

It is an odd spot for a bend. It would almost have to be put there deliberately.
Unless the fastener was near an obstruction. Accidentally or deliberately, my original reply was in response to the notion of it being put there deliberately by the factory, as an offset.

Everyone here has made at least one mistake, we come here to learn from each other
Of course. But when edits are made which then make a reply look nonsensical, an explanation is required. Hence my explanation.

The pics I posted are of tools that came in a fleet set. I have an early challenger set with same. By the 51 challenger catalog the part numbers had changed...

Lugz- the older rustier speeder here was in fleet set and is labeled penens r40, the nicer one was in a challenger set and is labeled only r40. R numbers in plombpire sets were I think gone by 51, but may have persisted in contract sets, I just have no other ads to tell either way.

I recently was able to find one of the the old 20s salesman’s cabinets, and was hoping to restore it a bit, and fill it with period correct tools. I am hesitant to post what I am interested in finding lest I find myself violating rules... would this thread be ok to discuss a wtb? Or is that for the classified only? Anyway, here’s the box. Unfortunately the drawers are gone, but the lettering/graphics look pretty good. I would be interested in talking with anyone who also has the cabinet so I could perhaps get pics/measurements of drawers. I have most of the tools to put in there but need a few things..

You can always post a classified and direct interested parties to it from here.

Thanks! I posted a thread in the classified “wanted” tab. I was hoping to find these 1/2 drive tools

The ell handle on the left is correct for yours. The one in the middle is newer. Looks like you are missing the bottom drawer but you can probably make one.

That’s what I was thinking too. I found a pic online of another one and it happened to belong to the fella “Chad” who started this thread. I was hoping to get additional pics/sizes but it appears he hasn’t been active in 4 plus years. I’ve only seen 3 maybe 4 of these cabinets for sale over the years and was hoping someone here might have one.

Oh wow! That is fantastic, thank you! Is the cab yours? If not do you have a full picture of it? I’d love to see what that top piece of the cabinet looks like in real life. Thank you snapmom!

A probably little know item I just tripped over in my toolbox. It was used when tuning up distributor ignition engines. #1 spark plug wire was removed from the distributor cap. The split end was inserted in the cap and the wire was inserted in the opposite end. The spark plug lead of the direct connected timing light was attached to the barrel of the adapter.

Was told to go in my wife’s recently departed grandfather’s tool box to pick out anything I wanted. Found this, and a set of 60s 1/2dr SO deep wells, along with some pliers and cutters from the 30s and 40s.

I inherited some snap on tools from my wife's grandfather a couple of years ago, and I was wondering if I could get some help getting some more information about them. Googling Vintage Snap-on stuff seems to lead to garage journal in quite a few cases so I thought I should join up here.

First I will start with the toolbox. I believe this is likely a KR-56 based on my research, potentially from the late 40s early 50s comparing to other pictures and some of the old catalogs on collectingsnapon.com. There is no date code anywhere and the Snap-On Logo has "Made in Canada" under the logo.

<blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/w6Nfv4t" ><a href="//imgur.com/a/w6Nfv4t">Vintage Snap On Tool Box</a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

EDIT: The tote tray came in the box and it looks like the KTR-1 in the catalog but it doesnt seem this one ever had red enamel on it so I'm not sure if that is what it is.

there are no image at all!!!!!!!???????

I'm guessing this is a response to me? I think it is due to the fact that I am under the required post count to post links or images. Hopefully the attachments show up now.

Got a KR-420 delivered today - was bought for me by a friend who coincidentally travelled to place where I found the box.
Per collectingsnapon.com these boxes were manufactured between 1950 and 1955. Most likely 1950-1954 as my 1955 KR-56 has a different emblem. This is Kenosha Wisconsin box (they were also possibly made in Canada)
I could not locate a it. If anybody has a similar box, please let me know where the stamp it is.

No stamp on mine. Don't think they were until late 50s

Trying to identify an old red tool chest that I’ve recently picked up in the UK. Given to me as snap on, but shows no markings, other than made in Canada; no other markings or labels whatsoever. Age was advised at approximately 30-40 years. Can anybody assist please; hopefully I’m in the right thread..

The data should be stamped on the rear panel, maybe a lower corner.
