I started a very small company several years ago making garage refrigerators called Tough Stuff Appliances that I have since sold, but it might give you guys a few simple ideas to make your old fridge stand out. I would strip the fridges down, sand, tape, mask and paint them with hi quality automotive paint. Starting out I was using rustoleum red out of a can and shot it with my LPHV gun and it was just as nice as using the pricey automotive paint. I then added aluminum tread plate on the doors. Here are a few pictures of what can be done to mini fridges and larger fridges to make them stand out.

Sadly the guy who purchased the business from me went out of business. :(

any chance of restarting the business, but change the name slightly?

I could, but quality was a priority for me and it took me quite a bit of time to complete each fridge and there is not a huge market for a high priced garage fridge these days. It was a fun little business, but in the end it was a ton of work for minimal return.

This is my beer fridge in the shed, it holds 4 kegs and has 3 taps. Painted in my favourite AFL team colours, Hawthorn.

Carn Hawks

Cheers

Man, loving all the fridges. My was in sad shape when I got it. It is a 1953 Westinghouse. It has a selenoid controled release button on the front. Painted my fridge hugger metallic orange. Practicing for when I start painting my trucks.

I found a 1950 Ge. On craigslist in great shape! Is 250.00 too much for it? I plan on painting it candy cobalt blue.

That's not a bad price if its running. I have a 57 or 58 Fridgidaire in my grandparents basement that I need to get moved over to the house. They bought it new and it was in working order until a few years ago. I can't wait to get working on it one of these days soon.

Curious as to what you mean? Other than just insulating from outside temps, will the fridge help keep contents from freeezing?

Just picked up my garage refrigerator this weekend. It's a bit noisy when it kicks on. I'm debating whether or not to update the compressor setup and whether to keep it original color/paint, do custom paint, or go all out and put a keg setup with a tap through the door.

How are you guys determining the vintage of the older stuff? My barn came with what looks to be a 40's or early 50's pull handle frig. its r12, uses tons of electricity and if not kept full will freeze water/beer etc. Constantly fiddling with the thermostat to keep stuff from freezing.

This one is supposed to go with a racing theme for the garage, though I don't actually smoke. The numbers are the magnetic signs I use on my autocross car.

Saved this guy from heading to the scrap yard. A replaced main cord and I have a coke machine that keeps ice cold. Not bad for $10. Although at $0.10/beer, it is starting to add up.

I use my edge star 43 qt AC/DC fridge, also makes it easy to take with me on trips as it is always stocked and cold.

I need to add something under the one side the lean is annoying me...
