Already have one on order. It should be here monday. I am going to build up the second one with existing parts, and new bearings and piston ring. The second saw will be a cheap build, basically free.

Good deal. Vac check it if you can. I’d also swing it by a husky dealer and have the ecm reflashed to the most current version.

Pioneer saws were very popular up here, have one at our camp.No pic at the moment.
This is the only PIONEER chainsaw stamped tool I've seen, this was in bin at RESTORE. A dollar but 30% off everything today,,its still there.
****,,not good pic,,,its about 1/2" box end on one end, flat screw driver on other end

I called the only dealer around and they want $100 an hour to flash it, and they said it would be 1 1/2 hours to do each one. :shocking:

I think I will just see what happens and if it doesn't run then look at getting it flashed.

Anyone got any Stihl 1106/1109 series saws? Those are the big'uns - 106 or 137 cc Lightning/Contra or 070/090.

I must have about a dozen of these in the garage. Here's one of my favorites - an 090G - 137cc gear drive.

I’d love to hee-haw around the woods with one of those. Bet it’s light as a feather......where do you come up with all these cool saws?!

Yep. She's a big'un.

I was actively collecting saws when I lived in Europe for a few years. Lots of cool old stuff available there, mostly in Germany and Sweden.

Well I decided to pick up a new Stihl MS261 M-tronic saw with an 18” bar to compliment my little 025 and MS461. This is my first M-tronic Stihl and I’m hoping I don’t regret it. I’ve always been against any computer controlled saw but everyone seems to love them so we’ll see. Got it and the 461 out in the woods today working on a big red oak. Thing starts and runs flawlessly, broke in my new chain and went right to work. Got 3 tanks of fuel through it doing the limbing and bucking the small logs. So far I’m pretty impressed. Nothing says Christmas Eve like breaking in a new saw lol

That saw is awesome, and in amazing condition. You don't see too many Pioneers anymore.

I recently added a full wrap handle and Tsumara light weight bar to my first 562XP build.
View media item 99964
And then finished up the second 562XP that came in the box and got her running last night.
View media item 99962
And I picked this MS360 PRO for $160 shortly before Christmas, and got her fired up last night also. It's in amazingly good condition and very clean.

I am not finding these crazy deals that you are Freudianfloyd but I did find a Husqvarna Rancher 455 for sale for $225 with 20" bar, extra chains, oil, plug wrench. I am looking for a saw to use to clean up my 1 acre property that has a bunch of dead (standing) trees. What are peoples thoughts on the Rancher 455? Is $225 a decent deal as long as it is in good shape?

Well these deals arent always for running saws. I constantly scan the classifieds for broken saws that I can get cheap and fix myself. I paid $160 for the MS360 but it had a roasted piston. I was able to clean up the cylinder and put in a new piston and rings for $34. Still a great deal for a pro saw though.

As far as your question, while I do not have the 455, I have the 445 and 450 which are in the same family as far as I can remember and they have been great saws. The 450 is one of my favorite saws, the 455 is a bit heavier and has a little more power though 3.4 hp cs 3.2 for the 450.

As far as the price, it's not a bad deal if the saw runs good and looks good, but I think I would keep searching for a killer deal, unless of course you need a saw right away.

Picked this 034 saw up yesterday for $50. The guy said it needed a new coil. He threw in a new bar and freshly sharpened chain.

View media item 100280
First thing I did was pull the plug. This is what I found.
View media item 100281
I replaced the plug and the saw started right up and ran great. I looked in the plug hole, and the cylinder and piston looked perfect. Also pulled the muffler today and not a sign of scoring. And this saw has a ton of compression.

I picked up this ugly Husqvarna 350 last night. It's already cleaned up, but I had to order a coil and chain brake components. I plan on flipping it, as long as I dont spend anymore money, I should do ok.

I need to get chain brake parts for my 350 too, and I already had to replace the coil. Is that just part of owning a 350, guaranteed brake and coil issues? The coil actually failed while I was using it, running like a raped ape then died with no warning. The side cover is missing brake parts including the band so I went cheap and ordered a chineseium side cover with all part installed for less than $15 and it never came so ebay got involved, seller sent another one and that one never made it either so I got my money back but still need the parts to make the saw factory safe again.

I dont k ow if the 350 is notorious for bad brakes or coils, but mine needed both. I bought a cheapy clutch cover and swapped the brake components over to the original cover. The aftermarket coil didnt work but was able to get the old one working. I wound up replacing bearings, clutch, clutch drum, and carb, because this POS just would not run. Finally got it running and the oil pump wasn't working.

I need to order one and get this saw out of my garage, I'm sick of working on it.

This is my first Husqy and I bought it used and rough, it was already missing the brake parts so IDK how that might have happened, I only suspect they weren't removing in good working order. It's a good saw no doubt and I hope it will last a long time, other than the coil and brake, everything has worked perfectly, and it does scream when dialed in.

Jonsereds 111S found me a few days ago. Wasn't in the market, but I have several and folks know I buy 'em when I can find them, I guess. Crank needs to be replaced, but I have a spare.

Have another pretty cool old saw in a million pieces on my bench, too - Stihl 090G. G as in gear drive. Have a vintage 5' bar to go with it. Anyway, it's getting a full rebuild. Will be up for sale.

Searched for muffler info but couldn't find any. I have a Homelite 500 that has what appears to be the right muffler on the exterior but has no packing or other baffles inside. The picture isn't very telling but you can see the piston moving while spinning it (haven't got it to run yet) and from a forestry standpoint alone, that wouldn't fly in the woods. In addition it would be ungodly loud, even for a chainsaw, after I get it running and potentially allowing something in the cylinder that I really don't want in there. Any idea what's supposed to be in there?

Anyone use one of the Stihl battery operated chainsaws? Looks viable if paired with the other range of cordless tools - leaf blower, trimmer, etc.

I live on five acres with a bunch of trees, including evergreens that are being wrecked by bugs and disease.
My main saw is the Husky 435 which I bought new in 2013. It cuts great, which my knee discovered the hard way!
Second saw is a Shindiawa S300, which I picked up at an auction about a year and a half ago. I didn’t really need another saw that size, but for $15 I couldn’t refuse. Saw runs great, but didn’t cut so good. Invested in a new chain (cost about what I spent on the saw!) and it became a beast!
Last saw is a Homelite XL that I got at another estate sale last fall. They were practically giving stuff away. Got it for $7.50!
It runs great, but the PO had a bigger bar/chain than it could handle. I had a dead Homelite Super II lying around. Took the smaller bar and chain and transplanted to this saw. Makes an awesome one hand “limbing” saw with the top handle design and short bar.

Maybe we should start a chainsaw scar thread..

Started to trouble shoot the ol Husqvarna 50 chainsaw. I cant get it to start. I checked to see if it had a spark which it does. So i pulled the carb off and the fuel filter. In the process I broke the fuel line... not bad for 38 yrs. I ordered the parts, should be here in a couple of days. Im getting bored.

First chainsaw here...Stihl 250. Not the biggest or the baddest but I got to put in through the paces a bit felling a couple decent sized trees (had some experienced guys guiding me through it) and was very happy with it. I definitely have a lot to learn.

I did notice however that on wet logs with thick bark the fell dogs (bumper spikes) sank in and then didn’t grip much. Without going too nuts are any larger ones interchangeable from other Stihl models? I read some bad remarks about the ones from Piltz.

Through some of my research I came across the forum on ArborSite. Anyone else on there?
