Is that stuff adhesive backed?
Yes the foil paper is self adhesive backed.

I ended up using one coat of rustoleum clear to make it look good. 2 coats make it look like orange peel. I also tried krylon clear made for uv protection and photographs but it was no good.

Next question: Are you taking orders? How much $?

Well, I got one of my 3/4 hp commercials cleaned up. Not perfect, but that was by design- I want her new owner to put her to work, not collect dust. Rustoleum metallic night black and silver. DIY label in InDesign (with intentional errors so that no one gets duped into thinking its original, however unlikely that may be). Made in July 1974, just 6 days after my other 3/4 hp block was made. Started out rough, but in perfect functioning order:

Stripped down, wire wheeled, ground, decreased, etc. The slag build up was a pain to get loose- needed a punch and hammer to knock some of it free. Stole a pair of steel/glass eye shields off an older 1/3hp model I bought. Replaced the glass with Lexan and used a flat LED Philips bulb. I think it came out nice:

Currently working on a 1/2 hp and after stripping off the paint I realized how bad the rust had pitted. Any advice?
Prime and paint with many coats of hammered finish. Or you can do body filler.
I don't know much about primer but should I use self etching in this case? Should I use two coats of primer to help fill in the gaps or let the paint do that?
Came out VERY nice! Great work!
It is not nice, it is perfect. I think if those craftsman factory workers would be proud to see it still exist and that folks are willing to bring them back to life!
Great job Aaron!! I'm also here in the phx area, would be cool to check it out in person.
Very nice restoration!![]()
Thanks guys!! I put a lot of time in it, but I'm very happy with it.
G20- you can be the new owner, if you want :-D
[/IMG]Well had and interesting day went to Prescott to do some paper work on a piece of property and found this, was going to sell it but they more research I did on it and the more I ran it and watched how I could go put a frozen burrito in the microwave and come back out and it was still winding down I decided to keep it. It had a light on it but when I first turned it on I had to take cover thought ISIS was firing motor rounds at me. Removed the light will look to get it repaired. Its a 3/4 HP commercial with tool rest, water troff and stand.IMG][/IMG]
I think I'm gonna start following you around and offering people $10 more for the stuff you find!
Those tool rests aren't even all chowdered up. Beauty.
Cleaned up the 3/4 HP dont think I am going restore it I like it how it is.[/IMG]![]()

I'm working on my first resto for my 1/2 hp. I have it mostly stripped down but need to remove the bearings. Are you guys using bearing pullers (which I don't currently have) or is there another trick to removing them??

I had posted this on the Garage Sale thread a couple weeks ago when I got it but figured it belonged here as well. This was listed on CL and contacted the seller and was told I was 4th in line someone coming yadda,yadda,yadda....3 days later I get an email saying the grinder is mine if I wanted to come take a look.Made arrangements for that evening after work. Seller wanted to plug it in to show me how horribly long it would take to spin down. While waiting several minutes to spin down I paid him his $10 and loaded 'er up.

That's funny!I had posted this on the Garage Sale thread a couple weeks ago when I got it but figured it belonged here as well. Found this on CL last night emailed and didn't get a response so figured someone else beat me to the punch. This morning I get a call back and said I was first to email him and be at his house at 5pm. Real nice guy who owned it forever, promised me that when he finds the other eye guard and side plates he will call me, I believe him. Changed my screen name also (its Latin)
