I chased down another 1/3-HP round top Block.
I have left a number of messages from Michigan without a call back. So, when I arrived in Central New York, I thought I'd give it one more try, but this time with a 'local' phone.
That was the charm. The snow gods were with us, and the 55 min tip east from Syracuse went without a hitch. No small thing, because the west bound I-90 traffic was diverted off the thruway due to multiple accidents and snow-outs.
The young man selling the grinder was closing down the 3-generation general contracting business. My brother and I were able to get several items very reasonably.
The grinder is not complete and has a damaged LH wheel guard, but I know I can find a home for the bits 'n pieces. The eye shields are already spoken for.
This Block was born right after the Hendrix concert I went to in Miami FL, on May 18, 1968.
Hendrix, Gulfstream Park poster I still have, framed and in safe keeping with my oldest, in Seattle, WA.
Thanks for looking.
Torque,
I was 2 years old living in the Miami area when you went to that concert. Been to Gulfstream a number of times for events.
What did the word grinder mean to you 46 years ago? Im sure it wasn't that you'd be the king of the blocks now?

As always, enjoy your posts.
