Love rotti's. All our dogs have been rescues, some headed to death row. They can be a handful, but the more effort you put in, the greater the end result.We are in the middle of the "obedience" thing right now. Seven months and pretending to be paying attention.

He is a mini Australian Shepherd and is about 2 years old. He paced around the house for 3 hours before collapsing on the family room carpet. He is a timid little guy and I hope we can get him out of his shell.
I think he needs a new stylist,Newest member of the Wiz pack. We adopted Ryder this morning. He is just settling down now.

Just picked up Tara's ashes from the vets this afternoon. They came in a nice wooden casket with a brass name plate on, and the vets also did a paw (and nose) print too.
Still weird not having her around being scared of everything.
Holly still seems a bit freaked out when we're out on a walk, being moe nervous than usual when she hears another dog barking. She's ready for tennis though.

"Bozo" the clown can't stand when I come in for a beer break while mowing the yard. He flips the hell out when I first fire up the John Deere and engage the deck, but calms right down when I get rolling....will go lay under a tree while actually mowing.

He gets excited that you’ll be outside mowing but doesn’t rag along? He just watches from afar? That tells me he wants you outside more. Does he get to go into the house with you?

Thanks Dan, he's fine. Sleeps at the foot of our bed every night. We can be outside playing ball for half an hour, just the sound of the mower engaging...similar to when the air compressor kicks on. No way he could ride along
Off a little there on your diagnosis again.... like when you said it was "worrisome" for him to be around small dogs Neighbor's Yorkie sneaks in any door that is left cracked open, straight to the boys dish

Latest addition Axel who just turned one this week. Full of beans and a right handful trying to get the elder girl Suki to play unaware that Suki is recovering from a major operation and isn't one bit interested in playing.

Remington is a mini Border Collie, yours looks like he has a tail? Borders and Auzzies are real close to the same deal, different colors, and borders have a tail where Auzzies don't.
They are JUST like their larger brothers. I don't think they have the double jointed "shoulders" like their bigger brothers. They are just as active, and just as smart. You need to keep their mind working.
Get him a puzzle, he will likely figure it out. Be aware once he "gets it" he will have it and the challenge will be gone. Something along these lines.
They are hard wired to work, and they want to work, a small RC car is a great thing to give their brain and body a good workout. My last full sized Border loved the rc car, and he would win over me.
Very smart dogs, and if you don't keep that mind running and working, he will figure out a way to do it himself and you may not like that.
This is Remington, he has more then a few health issues. Arthritis is something that hits these dogs hard, both in brain and body.

I have read that some Aussies are born with a stub tail & others have them clipped. Our Aussie/Saint mix Sheila, who has been gone for awhile, had the oddest tail. It was a stub, & you could see it wagging under her fur. But if you dug thru the fur down to it, it was wide & more like a short beaver tail. The stub wagged back & forth inside this wide tail skin. She was more Aussie sized & shaped. We described her as an Aussie with an extended wheelbase wearing a Saint Bernard coat.

@cherokee, Ryder doesn't have a tail that I can see. He is still coming out of his shell and doesn't know how to play with toys yet. He occasionally will chew on a rawhide for a brief period. He already walks on a leash with better manners than our Shih Tzu that I have been "training" for years, but loud noises still startle him. He is making rapid progress, but until he reliably comes when called, he's not going outside without a leash even in a fenced area. He is really fast!
4 walks today and the little guy is pooped out, no energy to get into trouble and that goes for me too! I hope that he will be comfortable with us soon, so I can give him jobs to do and buy him cool toys like the one that you linked to.
Talk about shattering gender stereotypes, our female Shih Tzu Maya, scents marks every blade of grass and getting her to move along on a waĺk is a real chore. Ryder, on the other hand, only pees to empty his bladder and moves right along on a walk.
Sorry to hear about Remington, are you giving him arthritis meds?

Yes he is on about as many meds as I am, joys of getting old.
Also, I don't know if you know or not, but I will say anyway, they have a very fragile....psyche I guess I will say. Like a video I just love says, a bad dog is like a whip on their back. A hard look is like a look from your parents when you know....oops too far, I will go and be quite somewhere. I have also found them to be quite slow at....settling in. He will, just give him the time. And I doubt you will ever need anything sharper then NO.
I just love these dogs, I am very spoiled to them, I have issues with dogs that are not as "smart". These guys are too smart for their own good.
This is a very good video of my last full sized border, his name was Ranger and he was such a good boy. All I can say is F-cancer. That took him away from me.
Ranger had been put in the garage when we went to work, his stomach was tore up IIRC and while he would go in the basement, it was still quite the mess. Figured I could just clean the garage much more easy.
He did not want to be there. He had been getting in the house every day and we could not figure out how. Finally we setup a camera, forgive the quality it is roughly 10yrs old.
I so miss him.....so much.
Damn the dust in here.

Both my Auzzies had shortened tails when we saw them as pups. I don't remember asking the seller if they had that done.

I could tell from his demeanor that Ryder is a gentle soul and as you said, just a slightly different tone of voice modifies his behavior.
It's funny how one dog manages to have a stronger bond with you than others. Clearly Ranger was your special dog. Great video by the way, it made me smile. I hope that watching it brings back fond memories for you.

Mine doesn't like the garage noises but don't let him hear a tractor running.
However, he's a little judgmental if I can't get implements switched out fast enough for his taste.

We toured Canyon de Chelly in Arizona today in a cut down Chevy Tahoe. My pups, Fifi & Max got to go along. They LOVED riding in the open truck and Fifi but NOT Max, liked wading across the wash.

Had to say goodbye to my 11 y.o. Rottweiler, Tiny, today. She was a good girl and full of personality.
