Went to a steam rally and country fayre at one of the country parks with the dogs today. Met loads of people (everyone wants to say hello to a puppy) and dozens and dozens of dogs.
Her daugher made a beeline for Lucy to stroke her though.including one woman with her kid who told me to get that dirty thing away from her.
Beautiful pup! Glad she’s on the mend.Astrid is 7 months old. She has been favoring a foot for a few days. Sometimes. She'd run on it, dig with it, but she'd get playing, yip, & favor it again. I took her to the vet. She broke a toenail right at the base.
They drugged her, cut off the bad nail, cleaned it up, bandaged it, & sent her home with meds. She was pretty drunk last night.
I hand fed her to get enough food down to give her her pills. Cheeseburger helped to get her started.
Here she is this morning, foot bandaged, bag taped over that to keep it clean & dry while she's out, & wearing the cone of shame. At least her appetite is back.
Gawd, don't you hate those asshats who roll the window all the way down? The older my dog gets he actually prefers to rest his shoulder on it. Just like a railing height at/above the hip for us humans...My Fifi today on the way home from the dog park. Happy as a clam! Park has a big & little dog side. On the big side were only pups and teenager dogs today - they had a ball chasing each other. All totally playful with no aggression whatsoever.
On the little dog side only an 11 year old Chihuahua who wasn't taking any **** from my little Max the mini terrorist who starts things he can't finish with big dogs but shies from little dogs.

My two current pups were adopted a little over a year ago so I didn't know their car behavior. It didn't seem as though Fifi - the one in the pic - had EVER been in a car!
Did her fears lessen over time?My old collie x figured out fairly quickly how to work the electric rear windows in my passat so i had to remember to switch the child lock on or she's open them all the way down.
Had to do the same with the rear door locks or she'd let herself out at traffic lights and stop signs.
She was a clever dog but scared of everything.

Skunk Off. It works pretty well.Our dogs effed around and found out that skunks shouldn't be messed with. They got to spend the night in the garage.
I've never been this close to an animal who's been sprayed. It has a different odor when it's right in your face.
There are skunks up there too!
LOL, true... I'm just afraid that they'll get that smell all over the cabin. The owner doesn't usually allow dogs over 40 lbs, but they're making an exception. I'd hate to stink up their cabin after doing us a favor.There are skunks up there too!

We've always heard that tomato sauce works, but didn't have any when our dog Forrest got nailed right on the snout years ago. But we had tomato soup. It worked pretty well, & with the consistancy of shampoo it was easy to use.
I watched an old mythbusters episode a couple of nights ago about getting rid of skunk stench.
Bookmarked for future need. Skunks are common here.
