Similar here. Baxter loves to meet people, but his enthusiasm turns some people off. Biggest regret in my training, followed buy touching his feet.
Went to a steam rally and country fayre at one of the country parks with the dogs today. Met loads of people (everyone wants to say hello to a puppy) and dozens and dozens of dogs.
Lucy was a little overwhelmed at times but wanted to say hello to absolutely everybody, including one woman with her kid who told me to get that dirty thing away from her. Her daugher made a beeline for Lucy to stroke her though.

Astrid is 7 months old. She has been favoring a foot for a few days. Sometimes. She'd run on it, dig with it, but she'd get playing, yip, & favor it again. I took her to the vet. She broke a toenail right at the base.

They drugged her, cut off the bad nail, cleaned it up, bandaged it, & sent her home with meds. She was pretty drunk last night.

I hand fed her to get enough food down to give her her pills. Cheeseburger helped to get her started.

Here she is this morning, foot bandaged, bag taped over that to keep it clean & dry while she's out, & wearing the cone of shame. At least her appetite is back.

My Fifi today on the way home from the dog park. Happy as a clam! Park has a big & little dog side. On the big side were only pups and teenager dogs today - they had a ball chasing each other. All totally playful with no aggression whatsoever.

tempImageVs8F05.jpg

On the little dog side only an 11 year old Chihuahua who wasn't taking any **** from my little Max the mini terrorist who starts things he can't finish with big dogs but shies from little dogs.

Gawd, don't you hate those asshats who roll the window all the way down? The older my dog gets he actually prefers to rest his shoulder on it. Just like a railing height at/above the hip for us humans...

My first dog launched himself out the window one warm day when he was young. I was approaching my house on a quiet and slow resident street. He wasn’t a car dog until he got older. He ended up with a strain of some sort after an exam by the vet.

Learned my lesson so the windows only go down so far.

My two current pups were adopted a little over a year ago so I didn't know their car behavior. It didn't seem as though Fifi - the one in the pic - had EVER been in a car!

I've driven with the front passenger window down but I didn't feel comfortable at all - hence the windows stay up 2/3's. She's fine with it. I even bought "doggles" for her but she HATED them, so I returned them.

My old collie x figured out fairly quickly how to work the electric rear windows in my passat so i had to remember to switch the child lock on or she's open them all the way down.
Had to do the same with the rear door locks or she'd let herself out at traffic lights and stop signs. :ROFLMAO:
She was a clever dog but scared of everything.

Our dogs effed around and found out that skunks shouldn't be messed with. They got to spend the night in the garage.

I've never been this close to an animal who's been sprayed. It has a different odor when it's right in your face.

Skunk Off. It works pretty well.
I agree, that the 20' odor is much different than the 2' odor!

Thanks, I'll get a bottle off Amazon and give it a try.

Late last night we tried the home remedy of hydrogen peroxide mixed with baking soda and dish soap. It seemed to have helped a little. We were supposed to go to the mountains this weekend with the dogs. We're not sure what to do with them now.

There are some beautiful friends posted here!
We have two babies, Sally (the wife's friend) is deathly afraid of the shop will not cross over that door at all and Ziva (my shadow) thinks she has to be there with me every time the door is opened. The only time I will not let her go to the shop with me is if I'm welding. Don't want to take the chance on burning her eyes and then if I'm sanding fiberglass or anything that I need a respirator for she is barred. Other than that she is my shadow!

Ziva in the shop.

Best I've found for skunk/spray bath is DAWN, vinegar and baking powder, and lots of all 3.
We've always heard that tomato sauce works, but didn't have any when our dog Forrest got nailed right on the snout years ago. But we had tomato soup. It worked pretty well, & with the consistancy of shampoo it was easy to use.

It's funny. He always hated baths. But that day it seemed like he was saying "Oh yes, please wash me!"

I watched an old mythbusters episode a couple of nights ago about getting rid of skunk stench.
This recipe came up best for removing the stink: A quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, a quarter cup of baking soda and a teaspoon or two of liquid hand soap.
Tomato juice is just a temporary solution aparently.

Bookmarked for future need. Skunks are common here.
