In today's edition of my dog is kind of an idiot....

I got home a little after 5 and finished my conversation in the truck at 5:30. Came in, fed the dog and changed. Let him out shortly after and started dinner.

An hour later I went in the other room and saw it...a pile of barf on his blanket. But it was black?

Further investigation showed that he ate the colored sales flyer I dropped last night when I lit the stove. But why does it look pasty and dark?

I look over at the stove and see ash and footprints on the hearth. Then I see the ash tray on the front of the door is clean. Licked perfectly clean!

So apparently a page of sales flyer and a cup of ash is enough to vomit...

He ate his dinner and a treat before I realized it, so I assume he's fine. Dummy...

Took my pups to the dog park as I usually do. I've "met" Astrid the Belgian Malinois before and she is very sweet. Friendly as can be because she knows I will scratch her back by her tail and talk sweet to her. So she LEANS on me - hard too! Anyway, she is quite the athlete.

Yesterday the wind was blowing her Frisbee all over. She never lost track of it and still jumped to catch it in midair. Didn't miss once. But then I saw her do something new. Her owner said "Tree" so she ran up a tree trunk and sat down waiting for the next frisbee flight. GREAT dog. Super well trained too.

EDIT: I forgot to mention she is about 7-8ft off the ground on the tree trunk. She runs up it like it's nothing. When owner lets the frisbee fly she jump down the full distance and runs like she's shot out of a cannon. Can't be good for the legs long term but for now she's a super star.

We had to put Maya down last week.

Friday we brought her home from the vet for the last time.

I extend my deepest condolences to you for your loss.
Every time I see where someone has lost a beloved companion, my eyes water all up. I know exactly what that person is going through. Over my 73 years, I have always had 1, 2 or 3 dogs. I have outlived them all except my current lab, Barney. I still feel the loss of every one of them. I swear every time that I am not opening myself up to that kind of grief again. And then another puppy somehow appears and the whole process starts again. The pain of their loss lessens over time. It never quite goes away. It just gets more bearable.
Several of my dogs are buried on the farm. Barney and I go by their graves on his daily run. I say hello as we pass by.
Rest in peace Maya.

Has anyone ever seen this before? The dog getting humped is a female. The dog doing the ******* is also female.

I had to google it. Apparently it's a dominance thing.
I have two sisters. One of them will always go and pee in the same spot that her sister just peed. And she is the most quiet and sweet dog until her sister pisses her off then she turns attack dog and has pinned the other one down until I intervened.
