Finally outdoor bath time with a hose here. Pushing 80F last few days. Wayyyy better than in the tub in the house :ROFLMAO: Saves a half day cleaning up. He does pretty good once the water is going and he's relaxed. A couple shakes and go roll in god knows what while I go crack a beer to gather myself :dunno: Nails tomorrow. The battle continues. Love it.

We're in Northern Cal helping bro & sis in laws pack for moving. Took my pups to their local dog park 2x already. Very nice and adjacent to a really pretty "people park".

Fifi is liking the small waterfall in the doggie park. Max won't consider going near it. On the other hand, while on leash and in the regular park he sought out goose **** and of course rolled in it. Smells SOOOO good to him and SOOOO bad to us. Had to wash him after.

Oh, that's the Auburn dog park. I used to go there almost every day in the summer. I don't live there anymore but my friend is still in the area and frequents the park still. He has a GSD named Taylor.

Yup, that's Auburn. My in-laws are moving to Lincoln, CA - wherever that is?! My role is pulling a U-Haul trailer and loading/unloading boxes of fragile items. We'll be on the road back to LA soon. Our pups are good travelers so all is well. PS: Nice dog park. The one in Glendora is very nice but this one is nicer.

Sorry to hear that. Not a fan of Lincoln. Although the dog park on Green Ravine drive is pretty nice.
I don't know ANYthing about that town. They are moving from a pretty large two story to a little smaller one story house in a community that is for people over 55 years of age only now that they are in their mid 70's. They're over the moon about the house though. What; if anything, has turned you off about the town? Just curious.

Black and white heat seeking missiles whenever the door bell rings. Beamer and Beatrix.
Just as long as they don't morph into anti personnel grenades like my Max!
(To me) It is completely random as to which human he will try to bite shoe laces or nip their pant's cuff. Other people he sniffs and lets pass. Same with dogs at the dog park. Somedays he's cool, other days he picks out the biggest dog and wants to nip him. Yesterday it was a teeny chihuahua 6 month old! But he really is a very loving to anyone else.

We borrow a phone to call the vet's office. If they see it's us on their caller ID, they don't answer, knowing we want them to trim Jasmine's claws. A muzzle and four assistants is no guarantee human blood won't be spilled.

Jeez, I thought mine was bad.

A friend did his first trim, then I quicked him once, then Petco botched a grooming when he fell off the table. Tolerates his feet being touched a little but when the clippers or Dremel comes out all bets are off. Best I can do is 1-2 then he gets upset, so I'll force a 3rd or 4th. I try to keep a rotation going otherwise he tears a nail with the zoomies or hiking.

When I give him sedatives for the vet I trim that afternoon, but other then that haven't drugged him out yet.

Have you tried the hammock/hanger thing?

@PCustoms, she has a thing about her feet I don't understand. When she's relaxed and lying down I'll put my hand gently on one of her feet. She withdraws her foot right away but I keep doing it on random occasions, hoping she'll get used to having them touched. She's a rescue Sato (Puerto Rican street dog) who has a thing about iguanas. She killed her 30th in the back yard last week. Attacks and eats their heads first.

Same here.

The instant I reach for any form of clipper or say trim I get a warning growl and he pulls back.

How much walking on pavement or sidewalks do you walk your dogs?
I found my dogs nails were kept short just by the daily walks.

Zero. Only pavement in his world is the garage/driveway. When ya start hearing the click-clack of the nails on kitchen tile (or garage floor) is when he gets his done. I found the best time is right after mowing when he is splayed out, laying on the ground and too tired, "from helping", to put up much of a fight :ROFLMAO:
Edit. I think every dog we ever raised had the black nails. Caught the old Black Labs quick one time, ****** mess. Bad. That was using the "guillotine" style. Soon after, switched to the scissor type with a safety stop on the back. Might take a few extra cuts, but don't get into the quick. Last one purchased also has a light which helps. Favorite set so far.

^^^^^ Man, the one-liners and "caption this photo" that come to mind when ya see that image :ROFLMAO: Post it over in "WTF" and see what happens. Been around dogs, mostly males, my whole life and thankfully never had to do any junk trimming :dunno:

So, who's the boss? Axel or his little buddy?
The Pugs (black one as well) are the elder dogs so they assume the boss role. There's two Poms as well but they're not my cop o' tea being so small but noisy.. The black Pug - Pudding spends the most time in the garage and was the sole reason for getting a lift having spent so much time under a Corvette on stands with two Pugs on my head.

It used to all be farm/grazing land. Used to go out there and hunt pheasant in the county owned land. Then over the last two decades it has grown into a little version of Los Angeles. Tons of people, tons. Tons of people with money who hate on you when you show up in your old clunker.

I will say that the Sun City community is kept up really well, though. I used to ride my road bicycle through there on the way to the hills outside of town. Fun story: I would get behind any of the golf carts I could find in the EV lane and draft them for more speed through the area. The old timers would **** bricks.

I do that to heavy trucks with my Samurai (65 HP on a good day..) on long trips as much as possible. If i'm 2-3 seconds behind them, I'm in the last of their slip stream and can lift the throttle. I got 27-28+ MPG a couple times doing that while towing the trailer ((probably 1200-1300 lbs -more with fuel and water on board) 25-26 isn't too hard.

It's not exactly streamlined...

On a road bicycle you can definitely feel it. If you are 1-2 feet behind the vehicle you almost feel like you are being pulled up (not steep) hills. Problem is if you fall back too far, you'll never catch up. Same thing happens in the peloton but with lesser effect.

Clyde is awesome. I’ve always liked big dogs but I am beginning to think the day for having one is past for me. I’ll be 70 later this year and though I am still healthy (knock on wood) a horse like this would be hard to restrain if I had to.

I hope Clyde is a gentle giant for you. Loving you with his slobbers!

Thanks Dan. Clyde is a very gentle giant. He has never shown any sign of aggression towards people or other animals. He has never growled even when playing or when he is dreaming.
I have always had large dogs. I like big lazy dogs that can’t jump a fence.
This will be my last large dog as I am in my early 60’s.

Nice to hear. Just out of curiosity how much does Clyde weigh?

Sooner, my avatar dog and lifetime best friend was 102 lbs at the end of his life. He'd become more and more sedentary. He was overweight but the vet said he was the largest pure Lab he'd ever seen and should have weighed about low 90's to 95 at his age. He was the biggest dog I'd raised from a puppy.

Oly was my stepson's dog we took home because he was working full time and going to school full time. Oly was 1/2 Doberman and 1/2 German Shepherd. He had a bark that would raise the dead but was a total sweetheart. ADORED our granddaughter and watched over her like a hawk. We had him the last 2 years of his life but lost him 2 years ago. Not sure what he weighed but it was a lot. Big dogs are fantastic.

Zuzu is 16 lbs and I bet a mastiff poops bigger than her body. Her entire life is based around when we can play tennis balls, the other day at the lake I grabbed an apple to eat and she thought it was one of her tennis balls, gave me the playful eye!

Otto is 18 lbs. He knows the difference between fruit and tennis balls. If I try to throw an apple, he'll just stand right there looking at me, doing the red ball dance. Apple is a bad word to Otto. If I make like I'm going to eat the tennis ball, he'll do the tennis ball dance, yes they're different, and look at Mom like she's lost her freekin mind.
