Here's my little criminal. But the "crime" isn't so bad since he never chews the sneakers! He can barely carry them since his legs are only about 3" long. The shoe drags on the ground and he even manages to carry them out the dog door sometimes but he never ever chews them. Only dog I've ever known that DIDN'T chew shoes they stole.

PS: My grandchildren were with us overnight Saturday so the Tonka truck is evidence of our 2 year old little man named "Elder".

Outstanding looking crew. I love Labs and especially love shepherd mixes. To me they are THE "classic dog".
The big golden numpty laid on an adder (the UKs only venomous snake) this morning. Didn't make a sound so he never got bitten. They're just starting to come out of hibernation i think as they're still a bit slow.

That's pretty worrisome to know they are coming out and you take your pups on walks. How often do you guys come across one on your walks?

I've only seen a couple in the 3 years we've been down here. Still a pretty rare sight. I'd not seen one in about 35 years before moving down here.
They're not aggressive unless stepped on, though its pretty difficult to see them in the leaf litter and branches.

Most of the time you just see grass snakes.

A dog-related note:
Next door neighbor brought his dog over for us to "sit" on an emergency basis Saturday. He & family would be out, but had concrete being placed and had forgotten to make arrangements. "Marz" is a big standard poodle. My girlfriend opened the door to get mail and he immediately trotted home and of course stepped in the new concrete! Fortunately it was dry enough he only left slight marks on the brush finish. We brought him back - he was NOT amused. Our miniature terrorist, Max didn't like it but didn't start anything. If Marz would pee, Max would pee over it. His territory, he was not tolerating any take over even by a male 10x his size!

Holly is a GREAT looking dog. She reminds me SO much of my childhood dog, "Slipper". I'd wanted a dog for a long time and my parent's finally let me pick a puppy at the local pet store. Then was not like today (I'm 70). People would give their puppies to the pet store so they'd get homes. My parents paid $7.50 for him. 1963 dollars which the internet says is about $78 today - amazing! That was a LOT of money to them. He lived until I was 23 years old so about 16 years. A very long time even now. Rest in paradise my boy, Slipper. I hope to be reunited with him and all my wonderful pups someday.

What a great story!

Missing toddler who walked 7 miles alone through Arizona wilderness led to safety by rancher's dog
The rancher traced the boy’s steps and discovered that Buford, an Anatolian Pyrenees who normally patrols his land and wards off coyotes, had escorted the 2-year-old for at least a mile.

The rancher said the dog had been with the toddler for at least a mile.

Agreed it IS a great story but of courseI have to wonder how the hell a 2 year old is left alone long enough to wander off int the wilderness?

I have 2 year old grandson whom I adore and he's a little dare devil. He'd definitely think he could do anything/go anywhere if he were left alone......so he is never left alone. Parents need to be seriously questioned.

Patiently waiting.

Patience is when you can set the treat on the dogs nose and shay "Hold it, hold it, and they hold until you say OK!

We could do that with out family dog we had when I was a kid, a Cocker Spanila/mutt mix, and with something as light as Trix, when he got the OK, his muzzle made a quick 360 circle and snapped the piece of cereal. I'm not sure the cereal ever moved!
