Our dogs definitely aren't that well behaved. They would snatching them out of my hand before I could set them down.My wife's service dog waiting for the ok.

My German Shorthair would always grab one of my socks when I took them off to go to bed. She would carry it to her bed before she went to sleep. She never chewed it, and it would be retrieved in the morning and put into the hamper. My only guess was that she felt secure with my scent next to her while asleep. She was one of our most problematic dogs because she wouldn't come when called. Her playmates were a Weimeraner and a retired Greyhound who tolerated her as a puppy and was her best friend when she grew up.Watch the socks. My daughter was telling me last Saturday they had an emerg obstruction surgery, a sock. 2nd surgery in under 2 yrs on this dog, both times, a sock. About $3500 a pop.
My "mini-terrorist" Max, grabs a sneaker whenever I leave. He carries it into the living room but sometimes if I kick my shoes off watching tv and leave them in the living room when I go to bed. Later he'll go pick one up and carry it back to the bedroom! Get this: He's a super short with 3" legs but he manages to jump onto a chair and from there onto the bed with the sneaker in his mouth! He LOVES having it.My German Shorthair would always grab one of my socks when I took them off to go to bed. She would carry it to her bed before she went to sleep. Shop dog is a shop dog. I've got two little ones that fear nothing. They hang out when I run power tools. Ride with me on the tractor. Ride in the Dingo bucket. It ain't the size or the haircut, it's the heart. Neighbor's big dog is afraid of its own farts.Man, I think our Arkansaw shop dogs are a little different from many GJ garage dogs.

Such a dignified handsome gentleman he's matured into. Crazy cute as a baby dog.My little boy had a vet checkup yesterday, which left me $630 lighter after blood tests for his anti-seizure meds.
But...................as soon as we walked in the door till the moment we left, he had entire room besotted and became the centre of attention for the staff and those in the waiting room. He may be an old man now, but he still looks as adorable as the day we met.

UGH^^^ This line kinda kills me......While I missed her, I think she got along fine without me...
My dogs have always yelled at me, or given me the cold shoulder after a vacation. I always feel bad about leaving them.UGH^^^ This line kinda kills me.
We have a long vacation upcoming and will be gone for almost 20 days. We will have a house sitter/dog sitter but my pups will think they've been abandoned and I truly HATE leaving them. They are rescues; Max at least twice if not more so they don't "KNOW" they've not been given away or abandoned.

I really like elkhounds. Astrid is our second. The first was almost 40 years ago, & I had been looking for another ever since.... I haven't seen many Norwegian Elkhounds in quite awhile. I had three in succession in the distant past. Great dogs, but aren't they all?!

Mine go insane jumping up, etc.My dogs have always yelled at me, or given me the cold shoulder after a vacation. I always feel bad about leaving them.
I teach mine to swim, and where to get out. They seem to get it. I even had one that would jump off the diving board, climb the ladder and do it again. Sometimes 5 or 6 times in a row.Mine go insane jumping up, etc.
Because we have a pool and Max fell into it ONCE - he could NOT get out. My girlfriend just happened to be outside and saw him. So I’m pretty concerned at the possibility of him doing it while we’re gone. I found a DIY pool ramp for dogs on YouTube I’ll be making. Basically a long thick rubber mat with places for his claws to grab, zip tied to multiple pool noodles and secured with rope to something immovable. I’d be inconsolable if he drowned. Ugh, can’t even think of it.
Oh he knows how to swim. But when he did fall in, he fell into the deep end and stayed over there trying to figure out a way for his 3" long legs to reach up to the deck - impossible. Even if he could have reached it he weighs 20 lbs and soaking wet I'm sure a lot more. He'd have drowned I am sure. He needs the ramp.I teach mine to swim, and where to get out. They seem to get it.
