I can finally join all of you with garage dogs. We just adopted a rescue dog. Some A-hole threw a litter of very young puppies in a box onto the side of the road, they went through the "system" until a no-kill rescue shelter started taking care of them. After being shuffled between some foster homes, we discovered him through PetFinder. My wife and I had been looking for a very small dog that fits in our tiny cars, likes going for long trips, will like sitting around the garage will we work on our cars, and will force me to take daily walks for my health.
We named him Frisco, he is a 10 month old Chi-Weenie (Chihuahua, Dachshund, plus something else?). 16 pounds of smart little pooch. Took him only 1/2 a day to learn how to ring a bell on the door to go outside. I hope to teach him to bring me a 13 mm wrench and not a 12 mm. In his first 3 days, he has already adapted to our life and I expect as he gets used to everything (3-3-3 rule), he will be a perfect fit.
I've never had a small dog before. We used to have Siberian Huskies so this is quite different for me.
