It's pretty cool to chart the progression of the above.

On the drive home, the "curl" for security.

Things progressed rapidly because this was Olly within a few hours of being welcomed into our home....................

Then the relaxed, trusting and dreamy side sleeper within a few days...............

Sometimes life works out funny and you get an unexpected surprise …

I've posted elsewhere I just had Reverse Shoulder Replacement surgery. I've never been out of commission before so my two rescue pups have never seen me like this. The little one was never treated with affection and not like the little lap dog he is before me. I dote on them both. It's taken a couple years but he now knows I'm "his".
When I got home from the hospital both sniffed my big sling VERY carefully. Max, my miniature terrorist decided I needed his care so he'd lie down on the pillow supporting my arm and lay his head gently ON the arm. Did this the first week til I seemed better to him, I guess. Dogs are truly great.

Very early days, but he gets super excited when we approach the front door with lead in hand. Olly gets his 3rd vaccination this Saturday, which will be the green light to start walking further than the front yard. I'm hesitating here because there is a lot of kennel cough and parvo virus going around at the moment, last thing I want is a sick puppy.

Give him a few weeks or more after the shot before you take him out. It takes a while for the body to build up immunity post vaccination. You can ask your vet for specifics.

You're lucky, mine wants nothing to do with a leash 😂 he sits and there's nothing to do if it's in my hand. Drop it and he'll follow. Stubborn *** 😂

Mr. Olly met the girls this morning..............

The girls were gentle, but the size difference had him a little intimidated, to be expected. My clients had been waiting to meet him all this time, we'd held off until fully vaccinated, but also because the two girls ended up with kennel cough a few weeks ago. Olly was on his best behavior, sitting on command and loving the added attention from two new humans.

I'm quite surprised how sociable Olly is, completely at odds with his master. I suspect this is from the environment he was born into, mixing with 10 other siblings, their mumma and a big sister. The breeder also has two children, and the puppies were exposed to several others within their extended family. So, Olly is very much used to meeting new people, if not new dogs.

It took me a little while, but I'm now fully in love with the little guy. I'm still carrying some grief and the 13-years of habits I had with Faych. But we are forging a new normal together, the way he waits at the door and greets me with full gusto is just so adorable, likewise the way he looks up at me in total adulation with those puppy dog eyes. He's not Faych, but at the same time he is doing what Faych did......................giving me purpose.

Here is my little guy. The last dog that I will probably ever have, because he is young and I am so old. He is also the first small dog that I have ever had, at 4 lb 12 oz. I always had big dogs, Weimeraners, German Shepherds, German Shorthairs, and a Greyhound rescue.MVC-003L.JPG

Beauty!

I remember when I used to jokingly refer to my life in, "how many dogs I have left". Now it's no joke, it's here.

Just got to enjoy every day with them.

We have had our little Frisco about 2 months now. We have been training him to be a garage/car dog. He already loved going for car rides so that was a good start. He was a great passenger in our little Fiesta for the long trip to our coastal house. Frisco sat or laid down the whole way in his car booster seat without any complaints.

Once we got him down here, I moved the booster and tether system over to our old Mercedes. We were surprised at how excited he was to jump in the car. More enthusiastic than he was to jump in the modern cars (he has ridden in the Fiesta, F150, and the Jaguar and loved it but sometimes I would have to pick him up to put him in his seats). Frisco immediately tested the limits of his tether and kept me company while I was driving. I am currently installing a seatbelt receiver in the back scuttle area of our Alfa convertible so he can sit behind us. Also got him some goggles to protect his eyes.

He will be a great old car travel companion.
