This is Tootsie. Notice she is standing on the edge of the canoe. She has been known to walk the top pipe of a chain link fence before. Great garage dog but horrible hunter!

Holy **** that pit looks exactly like mine. I mean if i didn't know any better i honestly would that was him. Ill post a pic for comparison later. Crazy though. :willy_nil

Thanks guys. Lucy (Akita) and Rocky (Boston Terrier) are at home with my wife, I am at the cabin. I miss them already......it has been about 14 hours now. How will I sleep tonight without Rocky stealing my pillow and the blankets.

Gotta love the pet threads. Here's Yukon. 8 year old Rott/black lab cross. 110 lbs. of best buddy. He hangs outside the shop while I play (he doesn't like the sound of power tools).

Here is my tribute to my 'garage dog.' She is a female golden retreiver 8 years old.

Her name is Maggie, aka; Golden Retreiver, Yellow Dog, Yellow Retreiver, Trick Dog, Retreiver. Her favorite is the stuffed animals she uses as a pillow when not in the garage setting.

She loves the new tool box and is attracted to the red. I think it has to due to her watching Michael Schumacher with Ferrari in F1 races with me in her younger years.

She especially likes the air tool drawer for some odd reason, along with some country tunes and Budweiser. Maybe it is the Marvel Mystery Oil that I use in the air tools... anything red I guess...

World said good-bye to my garage dog last Friday.

My 15 year old German Shepherd named after the renegade sub captain "Nemo", had to be put down. He couldn't walk anymore, and normally he would wag his tail no matter what, and that is why we kept him going. But last week he yelped, loudly, in pain when we picked him up. And then he nipped at my father when he tried to help move him. He was in pain, and it was time.

This dog was in the shop with me when I built my first rockcrawler, and was there when I restored a Studebaker. He guarded me and them with extreme predjudice. But he was still calm enough to take care of my newborn.

Best damn dog I've ever had.

Sorry, didn't mean to bum out the thread.

I don't have a garage right now, but my dogs are happy to help out when I'm working on my cars and they're always up for a drive.

Here is Von guarding the car on a camping trip last summer.

Here are all of our dogs. Nala is not much of a garage or car enthusiast, she's happy to stay at home guarding the house. Like I said before, Von and Mia really love to be in the car or going on trips in the Land Cruiser. This is from one such trip.

Thank you.

What bad luck have you been having with your pup? I hope he's fine. I like his goofy face.

Boxer are just great, we will definitely get another Boxer later in life. I'm sure you will get another Boxer, they really do come in pairs.

I don't like toy breeds like Chihuahuas and Pugs, find them annoying and pointless. Nala is my GFs dog, we tolerate each other fine but when my GF is out of the house, Nala and I really don't interact at all.

The Rottweiler is very demanding when it comes to training and discipline. I think Von is a more working type rottie than some others. We have friends with goof-ball rotties who would much rather play and hang around than pull a cart/sled or carry a backpack on a hike. She is also more rebellious than those dogs and she'll do things because she likes to, not just because I said so. That said, she loves to please me and do stuff with me, so we get along great.

I do love Rottweilers for their amazing adaptability, endurance and will to work so I've learned to love the boundary pushing and the "make me!" attitude.

All the Boxers I've met have been really happy-go-lucky and easy to be around. Mia is too smart for her good. She'll pick up things like opening doors and closets and getting into the dirty diaper bin very easily, but she'll act like she can't learn some tricks when we try to teach her. Very smart and very stubborn.

Beautiful Dog, sorry about your losing him, we lost our St. Bernard in Feb. 2011. Here's her tribute video:

Here's mine.

His name is Lux and he is a retired narcotics dog from our RCMP (our national police force). He is a Czech shepherd and was brought over from Belgium when he was a pup. He's 11 now and still going strong...

He's not the biggest dog out there at 78lbs but his diet of 2lbs of raw chicken a day and his titanium lower canines definitely draw attention.

Yeah, they are trained to recognize weapons and bite the weapon hand when they are released onto a target. He broke them biting too many guns and knives in the hands of thugs.

When he was fresh out of training he had to deal with a guy in a schoolyard that was wielding a knife... He didn't go after the knife like he should have but rather he decided to bite the guy in his "twig n berries". It ended up being the more effective choice in the end.

I have many many more stories that have been passed onto me about the adventures of my dog. He is pretty well known around here. When I get pulled over and he's with me the officers always recognize him and start chatting about what they've seen him do :)

Its nice to be able to give him the retirement that he deserves after he has worked so hard.

Can You Help Find this Missing Dog?

mister-bear.JPG

If you live in the Western Maryland or Hagerstown area please keep your eyes open for this dog. Please show this blog to any family, friends, etc in the area as well. If you see Mr Bear DO NOT try to catch him as he will likely run away. Report it to the Humane Society of Washington County (#301-733-2060).

I would really appreciate any help!

Hello all. Somewhat new to the forum...been lurking for quite awhile now. Hope to be able to contribute back soon as I am getting ready to build a long overdue shop. I thought I would post a couple of pics of my soon to be garage dogs.

This is our black lab Ruger. He was born on Chrstmas Day 2010. My fiance's parents have two registered labs and he came from one of their litters. He loves to sleep like this for some reason.

Maegan230.jpg

Here he is ready to go rock crawling :bounce:

Maegan271.jpg

This is his younger sister Remi, a chocalate lab. She was born on June 28th 2011.

Iphone4050.jpg

They get along great. Ruger has been calm tempered and very well mannered. Probably the best minding dog I've ever owned. Remi is a little more fiesty and headstrong and even though her brother is much bigger she doesn't back down when they are playing with each other. You can probably tell from the pics they are both just a little spoiled:)

When we first picked him up he had loose stools, so we took a ***** sample to the vet 3 or 4 days after we got him (which became ****** right before). He tested positive for Coccidia. So the antibiotics we thought would have killed it, but the stools were not changing, still loose and ******. So after about 2 weeks of probiotics and antibiotics nothing, we decided to put him on a bland diet (chicken and rice). Still nothing, but one day my fiance saw him limping which then got worse to not being able to walk at all. We went to the ER vet and they saw that it was septic arthritis. We were unsure if it was the coccidia that got into the bloodstream or what. Then the next day at the vet and another stool sample he had a case of roundworms. So we switched his food all together we were feeding him Taste of the Wild - Bison, he loved it, but we switched to Natural Balance allergy, and put him on panikare for the worms and the stools hardened finally and no more blood.

So a week after that we were playing fetch and my fiance was about the release the ball and he jumped for it, something he never does, and when he jumped he rotated when he hit the ground and that rotation caused him to break his back right leg. So back to the ER vet, he is placed in a splint, luckily surgery was not required and should not affect the growth plates (I hope the Ortho was correct). So we are coming on to 2 weeks with the broken leg, so far so good :) Vet said last week he is probably close to 50% healed

Sorry for the long story.

Yeah I have fallen in love with the Boxer breed. I have enjoyed their love of life, energy, the burns, and overall personality. I think my fiance is hooked now too! Yeah I do see one in the future, not sure if I would do a puppy again though, due to the time and effort required.

Wagon89,
COngrats on your beautiful Labs. If you go ALL the way back to the 1st page of this thread, you'll see "Dudley" my never-to-be-forgotten best friend black lab mix that made me start this thread originally.

By the time that photo was taken he had turned 14 and was in his last days (I guess I knew it but couldn't admit it to myself). He died only months later and it brok my heart. He brings a lump to my throat still.

He LOVED to sleep upside down like that in his younger days and his "little brother", Sooner the blonde lab still sleeps like that now though he just turned 8 this last week. I beleive Ddley taught him it.

In his latter days Dudley could not groom himself so Sooner would do it for him! Licked his ears and eyes, teeth (kinda gross!), groom his paws and everything. Tell me dogs don't understand things like empathy and being kind? Dogs are simply amazing.

Dan, I did see your dogs and everybody else's in the thread (took me awhile) and there are some great looking animals here. Good to see so many people appreciate their dogs :)

I understand what you mean by never-to-be-forgotten. I had a German Shepherd growing up from the time I was 8 years old. He passed away when I was 20. It tore me up. Been moved out of the folks house for 8 years now (just turned 29 in August) and these Labs are my first since. I had been wanting to get a dog for a long time but wanted to make sure I was in a place where I was able to take care of and spend enough time with them. I took me about 5 minutes to get attached to "Ruger" haha.

And I completely agree...I think they understand way more than most give credit for.

Well I finally get to post in this thread. Meet Max. my 2yo. German Shephard rescue. Still a little shy but starting to come out of his shell. Previous owner burned him across his back (hair grew back in white stripes). There is a special place in hell for some people...
