In Oz, she was a tough old girl but eventually even tough cats succumb to old age. The worst part about losing her is that every time I go into the shed and see her bed empty it upsets me and hence I don't want to be in the shed.

Been there, done that quite a few times. I'm truly sorry, friend. A new pet is the best way to cope. She can never be replaced, but in time with another pet's help, you'll remember mostly the good times.

i've posted her pic previously, but i actually caught her inside the garage this time.

she seldom comes in there, apparently i make too much noise. :shocking:

she's getting old, and doesnt like to be out laying in the yard in the full sun anymore.

Here's our Rottweiler, named 'Rotor' by my wife (after rotary engines). Picture is from a few years ago, at our previous house, looking out from the garage. I'll have to get a newer picture in a couple of weeks when we get the keys to our new (to us) place!

For me, first there was my sister, Lady. German Shepherd Miniature and Pembroke Welsh Corgi mix rescued from the Humane Society after one of the vets they used to put down unwanted/unadoptable dogs refused to euthanize her because he said despite what she had been through (long story), there was too much love in her and he refused to do it. I never met the guy, but I owe him a lot. We got her when I was still in elementary school and she lived for just shy of 22 years- passed away on her own on January 7, 2002. My baby cousins would pull her ears, squeeze her nose, lay on her- you name it. She was as gentle as they come. Here she is less than a year before her passing- cataracts, a couple benign growths, could hardly hear, but she would muster what energy she had to try and wag her tail if you sat with her and pet her.

Next, I decided I wanted a child, so naturally I went to the animal shelter near my parents' place in Ohio on a visit over the Christmas Holiday in 2002. Found my little girl, Cassie (the Super Beagle), curled up in the corner of a chain link cage shaking from fear so badly it made the adjoining cages rattle. She too had been abused, and returned by several would-be adoptive families, the most recent of which was about an hour before I came walking in. The shelter tried to talk me out of it saying she was terrified of all men, especially those with facial hair (which I have) and could only be approached by the female staff. I insisted and they brought her into a "meet & greet" room. Some of my family came in with me, and I sat at the far corner of the room. Cassie came in trembling, hunkered close to the floor, as if she was about to pee from fright. She looked towards me and ran right up into my lap. Put her head against my chest and slowly stopped trembling. Now you couldn't tear us apart if you tried. She turned 13 this past December.

Neal.

I see yours is Border Collie too. Ours is a Border Collie/Lab mix.

Yep, best we've been able to figure, and from vet's opinions, is Border/Chow and probably some lab too. Definitely Border and Chow though, he has the black tongue and curled tail of a Chow, and the smarts/herding instinct of the Border Collie. His coat is really slick/shiny like a lab, and has webbed feet, but hates water and won't retrieve anything to save his life, so I wonder about the lab thing. Funny, he can herd a 1500lb cow back to you, but a 2oz stick? Not happening.

We have goats and sheep, but ours won't herd anything. Prefers playing with them instead. He does chase the chickens around the yard, though when he catches them he just sniffs them and lets them go.

Haha, I guess you have better luck with the chickens then...Ours was a rescue, the family that my wife house/baby sat for during college took him in as a puppy from the side of the road. They said he was the worst puppy, got into everything, then their chickens went missing one by one, eventually he was caught red handed with a chicken. The guy hit him with a shovel...He's been a little angel ever since :lol_hitti I went over with my wife when she was baby sitting one night, they were still trying to get rid of him since they had 4 other dogs already. I thought about it, got halfway home, and turned around to get him. He's been the best dog ever since.

Thanks! LOL Funny you say that because I think the same thing :lol_hitti color helps alot because hes always under my car.

....BUMP.....

I can't stand that, my wife's dog is always under my truck, he got hooked on something once and I drug him maybe 10 feet before I heard him yelp, stopped and he bolted out, just a skinned area on his leg, no other injuries except maybe his pride. He'll still crawl under vehicles to get in the shade, but he bolts as soon as a door is opened now.

Apparently the floor is too cold for Liberty so she is taking over my newly repurposed captain's chair.

When it's raining outside she can run on one of the electric treadmills or on one of the slat-mills. Yesterday she 4.75 miles in 65 minutes.

I built the slat-mills.

In that pic he looks like he's smiling...probably cause he knows he's gonna trot right over and BITE THE SH!T outta somebody, haha

Haha, he looks mean, but he's actually a big softie, would probably lick a burglar to death... He did help to keep the place safe when we were in a kind of bad neighborhood though, the appearance and sound of his bark was enough to keep unwanted people away!

My two little *** clowns are growing up. The brown one is almost 6 months now and the yellow a few weeks behind. They still aren't much help in the garage, but it isn't non stop chaos anymore.
