Figuring out how to post a pic from my phone, but my 14 year old Golden (yes,’you read that right) is terrified of my garage. She’s been exploring it more since I’ve cleaned things up. She’ll come in and sit next to me, but if i don’t continuously pet her, she runs out. She’s a great pup, but has some strange hang ups. I think starting my Chevelle (no exhaust) has scarred her.

ETA: it’s attached, no idea why it won’t show up in the post. I’m computer (phone) illiterate.

Love the heck out of her. Very few large dogs live that long. I'm nearly in tears still over the loss of my "Sooner" (avatar) blonde Lab. The best dog I've ever had.

I remind her everyday how special she is. My last golden died at 4 years old of cancer. Sudden, unexpected, and after a lot of money in surgery. Shea (after the stadium) has been amazing dog. She’s quirky, a pain, she’s old and cranky at times now, but she is amazing at showing love, comforting you when something is wrong, and bringing joy to anyone and everyone. Giving her some love as we speak.

And sorry for your loss. Dogs are pets, but they really become a part of the family. Unfortunately i know what it’s like to lose one, and it is never easy. I still get teary eyed when i think of my dogs who have already crossed the bridge.

I just “met” the coolest looking dog today; a Bracco Italiano - anyone else ever heard of this breed?

It was identical to the picture I’m posting. I thought the owner was going to tell me it was some kind of mix of a pointer and a coonhound. When he said the name I kinda thought he was making something up that sounded exotic. But it turns out these are an ancient breed and they almost died out in the 20th century.

What I really like about the breed description is they’re supposed to be super friendly with children, very smart and a low shedding dog. Anyway, the one I saw was 10 months old and already an impressive size. VERY easy going even though I had my little poodle with me.

She was to be my shop dog. The shop is not yet done, but cancer spread from her hip bone to her lungs. We had to put Lacey down this afternoon.

Raise a glass and toast my friend.

Sorry for your Loss. She’ll be in the shop waiting for you to complete it.

My GR “Bruce” will be 12 sometime this summer. He’s a rescue at 6-9 months old when I got him from the shelter. Three homes before I got him. Just misunderstood I guess. Needed a job so I just wore him out every day.

Lacey was a rescue. The pound was going to put her down. Not suitable for adoption. My wife convinced them to try us.

She kept my older golden, Dodger, company. She would bounce up 3ft when she wanted something. She calmed down and gave us 12 great years.

Sorry for your loss! At least her suffering is no more. Small comfort, I know.

Can we share our friends shop dogs?

My friend adopted these 2. The dark one he got as a puppy and the light one was already a few years old when he got her.

The older one (lighter one) was pretty protective at first. I was one of only a few that was able to pet her :bounce:

The pup (darker one) is kinda a idiot, but he is still a pup.

Ain’t nothing like having dogs around when you’re working on something. Definitely changes the atmosphere.

The left is our 4 month old shepherd. Right is the fiancées (I'm not claiming that demon dog, he came with her) 8 year old corgi/rat terror mix. He's old, crabby, and mean to the pup, and everyone else for that matter.

Took this a few weeks back, the shepherd is much larger now. We're going to "meet" a 5 month old shepherd Monday to see how they get along, both being females. Ours needs a playmate real bad, and the old dog just growls and snaps at her. Our trainer has a 5 month old that she's been training since she was born. Very alpha. Ours is very submissive. And she's much larger than ours. Should be an interesting mix. They're my favorite breed, and the level of crazy they have matches mine well. 20190404_182741.jpeg

So taking the dog around to potty for the 10th time yesterday, a chicken starts "boouuwwwakk boouuwwakk" I look to see why the chicken is making noises, a snake or hawk, nothing.
Look for Jack? gone! He follows you like he is on a leash but he is not. The house is a couple of hundred feet away (live on a farm) Looking around the closest door 50' away is to the shed with old radios in it. There he is scared.

LOL! Poor guy. Sounds like he's a little skittish, but he'll grow into his new home eventually.

Awesome
The best thing we did was get another shepherd.

We had our first male ( george) as our only child for 14 years RIP

Now, Mitch Mitchell Who is 10
And our little girl ivy who just turned three.

Ivy sparked new life in the old goat and he is running around more and they are having fun together.

Pack animals.. yada yada.

I agree on sparking new life in old animals via a younger pup.

I pet sat a 13 year old German Shepherd named Lucky. At his home, he laid down all day, just kinda “bah humbug” kinda. I brought him to my home, and him and my younger pup honey immediately bonded. That old pup became a puppy again! He became my pup (long loving story. Nothing bad) and I had him for about another 2 years. He was active and happy until the day he died. I miss that pup :(

I agree wholly that the best thing you can do, is get an older pup a companion. I can’t explain it, but it improves everyone’s lives!

Here are my two garage helpers/distractors. Two piebald dapple dachshunds named Cooper (D.B. Cooper) and Trooper (State Trooper). The ball that was just rolled to daddy is somewhere just out of the picture.

Here is my Gracie girl, a 7 month old chocolate lab. My wife brought her home to me in November, and she has filled a void in my heart after having to put down my 15 year old hound 2.5 years ago and then my new hound pup getting hit by a car 3 months later. I was not able to bring myself to get another after that double heartbreak, and now that some time has passed, my wife stepped up big time!!!

Shadoe ...Yep...she has her own garage sofa too.. She's a rescue out of Yakima... My cousin had a friend going into a resthome and couldn't keep her...(they got her from the pound ..so if she went back...well...she wouldn't have left :(

So she drove all the way over here to the "wetside" to bring Shadoe to me. She's been by my side ever since. She loves going to Carshows, yardsales ...she even found her own couch..

Walking in town...we come around the corner she sees it(Black leather loveseat) out on the lawn..with a Free sign) hopped up & layed down.. Like she was putting her claim on it.

When people ask me what breed she is ..(no idea) I tell them she's not a retriever... She's a Finder. :)
