Let's See Your Garage Dog

On long-term loan from my mother-in-law. The dog is dull, uninterested in life, and doesn't help with anything... She's only interesting in food, food, food, and houseflies. 11 year old corgi. But she's also about as undemanding as a cat, so she's not a bad replacement dog after two years without, and as my kids (8,6,4) get back into activities.

my new garage buddy, just got him today. mastiff eight weeks old. he name is Clyde, short for Clydesdale. he is going to be a big boy. hope is half the dog that we had to put down a couple of months ago.

Any update on this guy?

Corgis are herding dogs. They want to be wherever you are. They are very content to just hang with you. Your kids make a perfect herd.

I last posted a picture of Chowder when he was a pup. He's almost 12 now and has been a great companion for all of us.

Clyde update.. just over 3 months.
Clyde was very sick a couple of weeks ago. some kind of stomach infection. not sure what he got into. it started with severe diarrhea, then he could not keep food down, he would puke it in minutes. took to vet and they thought it was some blockage. after x-rays and ultrasounds they found nothing. so he was given a lot of medications and a very light diet. he actually lost weight during that week. he is healthy now and eating normal. training is going good. cant wait till the puppy teeth are gone. first picture is from today, weighing in at 48 pounds. second picture you can see where they had to shave him for the ultrasound and his puppy teeth, last picture shows he been spending some time in the garage.

Oh my those shark teeth LOL! He looks like a sweet boy though....

Building my shop now but had the dog for a couple of years. Built the shop so she would have free reign all while still been within the dog fence. Her name is Liz and she's really good at doing what a shop dog does which is sleep, Lol.

Well to celebrate National dog day yesterday, my shop pupper, Jax, decided to eat something he shouldn't, and it has formed a blockage in his stomach. I don't know what it is yet. The nice folks at the emergency vet, where he stayed with last night should be letting me know soon, along with how much I owe them.

Even though he has long fur and his legs are only about 6 inches long, I swear hes a purebred lab, dopey and will eat anything that he can get in his mouth!

Oh well, a picture of him and his duck.

This is Emma, she is my shadow, got her at a couple weeks, she was a freebie, about the 3rd best dog Ive had. Half Black Lab, and Half Tree Rat Terrier.. She has her own place in the shop, spends the days out there with me.

Hope the dog recovers! He looks like my lab/golden mix laying in the floor. Typical legs of the labs and goldens.

Don’t Goldens will eat anything they find too. Ask me how I know.

Ichabod and Captain- Thanks for the concern. I just heard from the vet that he is cleared to come home. They did an ultrasound and found nothing. the xray last night had what looked like a mass in his stomach, but now they say it could have been a "shadow". He ate something that caused him to throw up foam for 12 hours...

But the important thing is my stumpy boy is coming home. I think he is corgi mixed with golden. He's like a full sized dog, just shorter. I just looked thru a ton of pictures, and I don't have one that shows him standing up. hes either sitting or running or sleeping on his back.

He looks like he's ready to charge down the driveway and drive those trespassers away.

But first a little nap is in order.

My old boy is to the point that the only way a home invader would get hurt by him is if they tripped over him and fell down. He's long since retired from guard dog status. He doesn't even bark at the mailman anymore. Now that's a retired dog.

My barks at them...But the minute they walk up my drive he has frisbee in mouth begging and wagging at the gate for a throw. I do wish he'd at least act a little mean when a stranger walks up.

That’s exactly what mine does. Barks and runs over to me so that I know someone is approaching. Then she grabs a toy and heads to the end of the driveway and waits.

Since we are talking about lazy guard dogs,Here's my two, Jax and Jan, in their natural habitat, on the futon in my wife's office.

also, Jax update:
Last Wednesday, he started puking around 8pm. By the time we went to bed around 10:30, it was just fits of dry heaving with some foam. By morning, he wouldn't eat and would still occasionally have a heaving fit. My wife brought him to the vet around 2pm, as he did not improve. They did blood samples, and took an xray of his GI tract. Blood all normal, other than he was severely dehydrated. They put him on IV fluids and promised a ultrasound the next morning as there "could" be a mass in his stomach causing a blockage.
Next morning, they do the ultrasound, and send him home, clean bill of health.
Friday, he seemed fine, a little more lazy than normal, but he had a rough couple of days. We decided to go on the camping trip we had planned. Jax and Jan stayed with my brother in law, and he said they were fine all weekend. When we got home Sunday, we noticed he had a small lump under his jaw. Monday-Wednesday, it was the same, and not bothering him. Thursday it was bigger. Friday his whole head was swollen. Back to the Vet! They drained an abscess, and bandaged his whole head up, and said he probably stuck himself in the mouth/ throat with a stick or piece of bone or something.

Now, 3 days into antibiotics, he is back to his normal pupper self. little lump left, but the swelling is down, and I am hoping we are done with this, with nothing to remind us except the bald spots and the bill!

They played outside all day while I cleaned up some of the shop. Now, nap time!
