We buy “not fit for human consumption” meat. Been sourcing the meat for decades Nothing wrong with it. Just not inspected. Mostly necks and backs. How could it be cheaper?
I go through about $200 of dog food a year. That would buy only about 55lbs of cheap meat.
My dog gets his regular food plus bits of "good" stuff. Like yesterday I cooked hamburger and I mixed in the little bit of grease with his food.
No kidding. I don't spend near that on my own food!$286 / month? Hope you have pet insurance!
No insurance. I won't tell you how much we spend on meds every month. They're my dogs. I rescued them from bad situations. I owe them whatever it takes to keep them healthy and happy.$286 / month? Hope you have pet insurance!
I'm with you. Got two German Shepherd rescues myself. No insurance. I won't tell you how much we spend on meds every month. They're my dogs. I rescued them from bad situations. I owe them whatever it takes to keep them healthy and happy.

Lost our 15 year old Golden last fall. Trying to break in a new garage dog. So far he still hasn't figured out how to hold the flashlight for me. Banjo is a rehome when the original buyer couldn't make it work. It's our first experience with an Australian Shepherd, and I have to say going from a 15 year old, deaf, Golden to a 5 month old Aussie has been a shocker. Man he's a cute little guy though.

SUPER cute, WAAY damn smart.
My sister had an Australian Shepherd for many years and the issue with them is they’re genetically predisposed to herd. No harm intended of course but they will sometimes nip small kids as they see them as ripe for herding. They NEED a “job” and owners have to provide something for them to see as jobs. Still, I really loved hers. She settled down a lot after she was about 1-1/2 to 2 years old.

We lost Holly our hairy teddy bear on monday. She was only a few weeks off turning 17 but had lost 5kg in weight over the past 6 months, was loosing the eyesight in her remaining eye, was struggling to walk and also had canine dementia so wasn't really sure where she was most of the time.
So sorry for your loss.

She's left a huge hole in our hearts as we'd had her since she was rescued at 3 months old.

Was it plugged in? You'd think once would be enough to learn...Twice at the most. LOLI've had to fix an extension cord 3 times now.

Holly was on glucosamine capsules once a day plus one of the joint aid chew things and if we forgot one day you could definately tell as she'd stuggle to get out of her bed. From our previous Lab, I'm sure glucosamine works. Dogs don't get the placebo effect. Best wishes, Jim to you and your dog,
Sort of...Was it plugged in? You'd think once would be enough to learn...Twice at the most. LOL
