That was made sometime after 1947, when the Bingham Stamping Company bought a controlling share, and before 1961, when the plant closed down and the hand tools division was sold to Utica, already owned by Kelsey Hayes.The old Herbrand Plant is down the road from my home. I had ONE which made it a curiosity.
Now it looks like I have a collection.
Anyone have any information about these with the integral blade??
It looks like the "crest" worked like a drag link socket, to turn a slotted thing. Perhaps an dedicated adjustment wrench for a slotted adjuster and lock nut?
It was a screwdriver.I picked this up yesterday at an estate sale. Now, just to find the one missing piece!
