Did a little upgrading to my hutch today. Two monitors docked into my surface pro that I use as a scan tool!

This thread is probably my favorite so far. Some of the organization ideas are pretty trick depending on space constraints. There are some REALLY nice boxes in here, as well.

If you decide to take any snap on sets out of they're cases I'd be more than glad to take the cases off your hands!!

I’ll keep you in mind. I’m to OCD to take the sets out so I’ll probably keep them. I could utilize space better by getting rid of them but in my head they are part of the set.

This is my Snap-On top chest which I purchased recently. It is a used box which I made a cart for until I get a proper roller cab for it. It is very difficult to source used Snap-On tools in Europe. Would anyone know the model of this box or the years these were manufactured. I can’t find any info on SO website.

That is such a cool little tool chest. I had to dig around to figure out the model. It's a KRA63A box. I think made around early '90s or so.

Time to contribute my own box.

I inherited the box from my uncle milt, who was a heavy mechanic by trade. I got a few of his tools with it, mostly 1/2” fractional stuff. Some metric 3/8 snap on though, which is really nice as I mostly work on older Japanese motorcycles. Regardless it’s very cool to have his old tools and continue putting them to work. I replaced all the drawer sliders, liners, and combined my stuff with his. So it’s a total mishmash of brands, from Snap On, Matco and SK, to Stanley, MAC, and Mastercraft.

Those are the best kind of tools IMO.

If I can use a tool that my dad or grandfather used 75 years ago then it's the best tool ever.

Went to this after dealing with cheap 18"x 26" Craftsman units. Thanks to amazing resale on toolboxes in this state, my out of pocket is under 300 for this setup.

Snap on KRL7100, the side cabinet is a KRL711 to ad to the side of it since I couldn't find an era specific 262 or 290 side cabinet, well I did but after I bought it. Those are at my cousins house since i do work there. In the garage thats my condo, you can see my tool cart and possibly another tool box, and yes that is mid rise 2 post lift., and tire machines equipment, coats and a hunter balancer. The one at work is a miss match set I'll link a tour video skip ahead to 1:14 to start the video,if you do retirement if tool box retiring was going to swap it out w the snap on but plans changed.

For cheap i was surprised how far HF has come.....6 beers and valium needed on bolt up...pain in keester to bolt up buy everything lined up and drawers work smoothly...how the chinesse freight dock guy can utterly destroy the bottom tray and not leave a mark on the box is magical...hence black bottom tray but i really like the 2 tone....buying kid a black one and we are going to swap drawers.. HF cannot keep lime or orange in store....soon as truck arrives they are all sold...i drove 60 miles to find the only lime color close to my area..

I wish us general made a choice between top box or hutch style top. Sorta like the Milwaukee boxes where half the height is drawers and he other half is a small hutch. Lord knows they’d sell the **** out of them just like all their other boxes.

How is the quality?

not bad at all, I bought the 41” top and bottom combo about 5 years ago for work, I work in a weld shop and i’ve beat the **** out of it for 5 years now.. I have a matco roll cart and i’d say the husky would give the matco a run for its money. now I will say some of the huskys that we’re on display when I went and looked at this one did seem like they were built in a different facility, flimsy drawers and A LOT of flex when pushing down on drawer when fully extended. this one doesn’t have hardly any even on the big drawers. the only thing I would change is the barrel keys. I hate those

Thanks. I wasnt sure I would be into a white box either. I've owned red, blue, and the one before this was black. But working on oilfield equipment, my shop is so dusty and dirty that the white shows less dust and scratches. My black one would never stay clean.

It was more of a seeing it in person that sold me on it.

This was my trade in for it, it was a 54" that was paid off. Liked it but outgrew it, and I got a smoking trade in for it

I took the leap to white even though the rest of my boxes are red (and one each of red and black). Now I just want to buy more white boxes when funds permit.

I never thought of a white box until I saw one. Assuming it's available in the style/size I want, and I ever need to buy a new tool box, white will be high on my list. By the way, yours looks fantastic.

Here are few shots on my KRL/KRA Hybrid. This box was a prototype (it doesn't actually match any KRL or KRA size / configuration from what I can find) and originally painted hunter green with chrome trim. It has original prototype drawer dividers in a few drawers modeled after Lista / Vidmar (and I believe Snap-On actually offers dividers like this now).

After using it for a few years, I tore it down and had it powder coated white. I got OEM black trim and had the handle and emblem done in gloss black. I also ordered the closest fitting top mat, the newest style lock with the wrench key and made the custom decal for the bottom drawer.

You did a fantastic Job restoring it. Its a KRA2407, or classic 60. 36" wide x 24 deep. It is not a KRL box. your dividers are an add on (extra) addition available separately. those have been available for the last 20 years or so. most people wouldn't spend the coin to buy them. the new "speed drawer" has been out of a couple years as has the slots for the dividers built into the drawer on all four sides every 2" apart.

its original color was Formica Green. it was discontinued last year.

Thanks for the feedback and compliment.

My box is actually 36" wide 29" deep and 31.5" tall without casters, possibly a KRL/KRA hybrid. It came direct from a very long time Snap-on employee. The dividers were actually some of the first test pieces that they produced.
