Nice set ,M6Z. Looks very well thought out. What are you working on with this set?

I'd be curious to know as well. There are some tool choices I question depending on the purpose of the kit... For example a claw hammer and such a fat handled ratchet (red), etc...

Bought another 40" box yesterday. Bit of shuffling and reorganizing today, still more to do but a huge improvement on previous setup. Odd drawer setup, i know, but they're moved to suit my needs.

Yellow trolley i bought a week ago. My mate bought it new and never used it.
If you ever get the energy would love to see a drawer break down.

You folks have some nice boxes. I'm starting to feel a little cramped with a 26" Snap-on stack and a 4 drawer HF cart. I may have to change things up. Let the garage tetris begin!

Actually I just noticed this last week. I checked this thread today and it reminded me.

My son desecrated my HF USG cart. A while back he asked what I wanted for Fathers Day. I told him anything Snap On would make a fine gift. He’s 35 years old, lives an hour and a half away but we work on projects together fairly regularly. He knows what I meant. 😂

I do have a KRL 722 and probably more than half the tools in the cart are SO but he even took the USG badge off to complete the crime! He gave me a nice straw hat to distract me.

It's the "inside" box, that keeps my wife out of the garage toolbox. At least that was the idea. Hang a picture, assemble a toy or chair, etc.

What's something like that setting you back these days? I'm fully retired now and haven't priced one since 2019. I shudder to think what inflation did to them the past couple of years.
Pm'd........then of course I found a cheaper one today that was right in my back yard

Just picked up a 56" series 2 before they are gone. Also used the icon coupon to finally upgrade my sockets and ratcheting wrenches sprinkled with a few snap on buys (not sure if I like the hard handle ratchets yet. right now I have SO soft handles). Just popped in my new tools while moving over the tools from my 44" box that I outgrew.

I recently bought myself a new toolbox. It's sold out of the G2S Tobeq catalogue in Canada.
Current Promo is a free top box with the roller cabinet on the 41" size. All in it cost me about $2k Canadian (after tax & shipping). For comparison the Husky 52" 15 Drawer which is $1200 in the US would cost about the same shipped to me here (1700 at homedepot.ca + shipping + 12% tax).

I tried to do a bit of research, and took a gamble based on the dimensions of lots of different boxes and their net weight. For example the Husky 52" combo is 52"x20"x64" and weighs 418lb, whereas this unit is 41"x21.5"x63.3" and weighs 460lb. There are no reviews out there that I could find but as far as I can tell it's the exact same box sold as the Jet 41" Combo in Canada, and the Husky Heavy Duty 41" Box that I don't think HD sells any more in the US or ever sold in Canada.

(If you're interested in exact drawer dimensions, check out that Jet link and look at the "Product Sell Sheet" in the "Helpful Documents" tab)

I never wanted to spend SnapOn money on an empty box and I live in the middle of nowhere so finding a 2nd hand box in the big city and getting there (3 hours each way) meant getting a deal was impossible. I was looking for months before I eventually pulled the trigger on this one.

I've had it a little over a month now and first impressions are pretty good for the price. The drawer liners are really grippy, the power bar in the top till is a nice touch and it's got lots of full width drawers with was a big part of why I chose this box. The drawers are pretty much full extension (maybe a mm or two shy). I've managed to completely empty my Canadian Tire 5-Drawer cart (USG knockoff kinda) and 26" Waterloo box I was loaned into this new unit with room to spare.

The wheels are pretty cheap and there's no lip on the bottom box. The top box is held on with 2 corner brackets in the back corners. I might be a little wary of how secure the top box is if I were planning to move it around with any regularity (but no one in our shop ever moves their box).

Quick walkthrough of the pictures:
1) Box from the outside (bonus rubbermaid which keeps my welding/grinding faceshields and snowmobile helmet)
2) Top till which is mostly paperwork, battery chargers, junk
3) Pens, welding knick knacks
4) One lonely prybar (will need to add a full set here)
5) Pliers collection
6) Combo wrenches - one of the big reasons I wanted multiple full width drawers. Would like to tinker around with the spacing and see if I can fit a set of ratcheting wrenches in the same drawer.
7) Sockets and torque wrenches; 159pc 3/8 & 1/2" Tekton Impact set, old Black Chrome Stanley 1/4" set
8) Screwdrivers, L Keys, Ratchets & Extensions
9) Air tools and my lunch table drawer (until I buy something else to put in it)
10) Power tools (M12 Stubby 3/8, M18 Brushless Drill, M18 Hackzall), Hammers and Punches
11) Electrical (Fluke Meter, Crimpers & Dies, Custom Test leads (Deutsch, Spade etc on banana plugs that go straight into the meter)), Metal working tools (rethreading, drill bits, loose taps, bolt extracots)
12) Bottom left drawer is my 1/2" drive Hex and Torx Impacts, ratcheting wrenches (light coloured canvas rollups) and a cheap set of wrenches I bought so I can bend/cut/shave a wrench without ruining my nice set. Bottom right drawer is basically nothing right now except a Mapp Pro/Propane torch. Will probably one day put a 3/4" socket set in here, maybe some diagnostic gauges etc.

Any questions or suggestions on organisation welcome!

Well, had my fill of my last job (management) so I adiosed and added another piece of furniture, waiting for the worktop, work center and overhead. So far so good. I have the space I need now and an employer that takes care of its employee. New box is a KMP-1022, my main box is a KRL-1163. upgraded to a dual 24s for monitors and am looking at a custom built PC now that money is a bit more available for side projects.

Which one?

IMG_4823.jpeg

The old red Proto box on the end came out of my FIL's shop when I helped him move. 40+ years at the same place. I'm still finding small stuff with price tags unopened from 20+ years ago. The Gray / Blk Craftsman was my first decent box I actually bought new (display model) it's close to 20yrs old. The Husky - my wife bought that for me when me bought this place. The black Craftsman off to the right is the box my FIL made me take when he moved AGAIN to the house where he just has a shed and no garage.

Every damn drawer is pretty much full. That gray metal cabinet off to the left? There are (3) pans full of sockets / wrenches I need to go through.

Built some quick stuff this weekend to re-organize the bottom tub of my Hazet assistent.

Still need to figure out a way to retain the plywood tray so that it doesn't wobble but can be removed easily to access storage underneath. I'm thinking maybe rotating lock tabs like on airliner galley storage.

These days I have the 26" USG box I've had for a while now
PrFtM8.jpg
That one mainly holds the household tools, and some stuff that is "shared" with the automotive work

and the Full Bank I've had for almost two years that I've really liked a lot:
hUKpIZ.jpg
I don't have a good pic of it. I've really liked it a ton. I have to say looking at the 56" Series 3 with power drawer, impact storage and the hutch had me salivating a bit. I don't want a traditional box with a worktop (my workbench is to the left of this box, and I don't really want to encourage horizontal surfaces for me to pile stuff on), but a hutch...
