it is 1971 or 72, I love the wrinkle finish. I drove all the way to lancaster CA from LA 1 1/2 hours and the guy had sold it even though he knew I was on my way! SOB
I listed an ad on CL looking for a vintage tool box and one hour later I was on my way to el monte CA to pick this baby up!!! I love this box it replaced a KRA three box set up

My Stanley FatMax tote tool bag which I bought a couple of days ago. NOK399. This is perfect for carrying around for smaller DIY stuff. Low weight, everything in plain sight, room inside for nuts and bolts and smaller parts that you're working on, easy to move around... Never thought I'd buy anything but an all metal tool box but I gotta love this one.
Will probably replace it with a Facom Probag though as that one has a cover and a little different layout, and use this one for carpenter tools.
This is nowhere near most of you guys, but this is weekend warrior....
Nice hunk of space to work in for weekend warrior!

Here's my work box, I posted in another thread once but here it is in the official thread.

My USAG 285 PV8 wrench holders w/wrenches.
1. USAG wrenches 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19, 22 mm
2. Snap-on 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 mm
3. Snap-on 3/8", 7/6", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4"
4. Empty holder.
It is designed for the slim USAG wrenches so I needed to skip a slot with the Snap-on wrenches.
Edit: I bought these 10 years ago in a store and don't know if they are still available.
Your red 3 piece kit you just bought. Is it ball bearing, quiet glide or the bottom line? My black set above is the quiet glide and you are right, you cant count on the craftsman boxes to last more then acouple of years. My intermediate box is a POS with almost 2 years of light use.
Can't justify buying a Snap-on or Mac as I don't have to move my box. I have noticed that you used to be able to depend on the Craftsman box to be of decent quality but that's no longer the case. The last set I bought (the red 3 piece) is of dubious quality and not built to last a long time. It'll be fine for now though. I could use one more cabinet but I'm out of room in my bay.

ever think about removing the casters, and stacking the blue roller cabs?
just a thought...

Actually-- that's a pretty good idea. Never thought of it. I foresee a new roller cabinet in my immediate future. Thanks.![]()
