Sigh, my grandfather drove a Submarine in WWII and spent the rest of his life as a mechanic/ bodyman. My grandmother sold/gave all of his tools, of course all snap on from that era, and all his WWII gear away. My father was a bean counter, so I had to star from scratch. I'm so jealous of you guys who have history from your family to hold on to. :(

Yeah thats one of the things we kind of regretted when my aunt sold the farm is that the tools went cheap enough we should of kept them rather than selling in the auction.

For my dads side the discussion is sometime in the next 30 years who ends up with the guns and who ends up with the tools.

You know, I looked at every page in this thread and some how never posted any pics of my stuff....

From left to right:

My first "real tool box" which was a christmas gift from my old man and wife when I first moved into my house. A Craftsman RollerBearing 11 drawer set that's served me very well over the last 5 years. My Craftsman EasyGlide 4 drawer work bench with galvanized work surface. My Ranger Products 13 drawer roller bottom box which I won from Ranger/BendPak in a contest here on GJ which has my Craftsman 6 drawer side box hangin from it. Finally my Ranger Products 8 drawer top box sitting on a homemade stand to save me some space in my little 1 car (hopefully temporary) garage.

When I started working on cars, I had some "cheap' tools and some "expensive" ones. Since then I've ended up buying ones that work and do what I want it to do, whatever the brand.

WOW. you are going to complain about being "**** on" and then say other people are too sensitive
This is just the internet, don't take to heart what some jackass types. :lol_hitti

Tools are tools. Some are better than others. Some people take price into consideration. If the price is right by me and it's made in USA then I'm buying regardless of brand.

(edit)
Krusty beat me to it.

I'm just saying you say something nice and someone finds a way to twist it around. I made a comment about the guy using Duralast stuff until he can afford better tools and someone had to say something. I'm not **** hurt or anything about it. Some people just love drama I guess.

Mac box, I couldn't find a sticker or stamping on the outside but from looking online seems to be a mb1700. The side box is a snap on KR28B. I bought both boxes with Snap-On, Mac, Blue Point and other good tools in it for $450.00.

LOVE that box setup Buba! Did you spray your pegboard silver to match? We need some pics of the contents! Thats a nice looking rig for sure. Black boxes just look sinister.. kinda like black cars. Very nice..

The inside of the hutch on the newer snap on hutchs for the krl series are lined with a stainless like metal.

Curbnaround,

Nice box. I actually like the debadged version.

I have a mb1700 and it looks just like that. Yours may be an earlier one because I have spring loaded caster and I don't see the springs on the casters in the pic. I am in the process of getting all my slides replaced, the detents are gone and if you move the box, all the drawers open up.

Nice box there Curb! I have a MB1500 that I am going to restore. :)

Thanks guys....it came along at the right time.

My drawers open up also and I need the clips that keep the drawers from falling out. Also, the handle is mounted in the middle of the drawer where your badge is so you are probably correct about it being an earlier model.

Any idea how old this box is? The guy had been a mechanic for over 25 years but passed away a few years back. His daughter was finally selling off some of his stuff.

Early 80's I believe.

Hey Bryon, where and how are you getting the slides? Is MAC replacing them for free? I need one or 2 for mine and I figured if you have BKM, lets rock and roll. :)

Here's mine, a KRL 1001 that I bought used. I did order some new drawers, swapped out some of the 4" deep for some 2" for more layout space. As you can see by the collection on top, I could use the 1201 also, just can't bring myself to pay new prices..:lol_hitti

I don't know. My box was handed down to me from my dad when he retired. I remember him buying it in the early 90's. I think it cost $3500 for the whole set up back then.

Shocker,
Mac is replacing them. I basically got with my dealer and ordered two sets of slides where the ball bearings were falling out. After I did this, it was a chain reaction. I forgot what it was like when the box opened and closed correctly. Now, you have to pull to get the draw to open, rather then just a finger.

Just be patient. Search craigslist and ask local tool dealers. You never know when one might come up used. I want a locker for mine and I am just waiting till the right one comes along used.

MAN!! I am blown away by some of these toolboxes and their contents... I suppose it's taken some time...or maybe not...to gather all these tools together. I'm still workin' on mine. Gettin' there.

Pics of the contents?

What kind of work do you do? :)

I don't have any detailed pics of the drawer contents currently. Mostly Snap-On, Mac, Matco, Cornwell and a few Craftsman and Proto. The toolbox consists of the average hand and air tools plus a lot of fabrication tools such as bead rollers, dimple dies, diagnostic scope, OTC Genysis Scanner, meters, vacuum guages, torque wrenches, most sockets and wrenches up to 2" including 3/4" drive sockets. Many specialty tools for auto, HD and motorcycles.

I pretty much work on anything with an engine from lawnmower, tillers, snowblowers, motorcycles, ATVs, snowmobiles, automotive and motorhomes/coaches. I operate a small repair/custom fab/Hi-Po shop along with my wife and son. Mike.

First pic was taken as I was loading a trailer to move 3,000 miles+ one way, second pic was taken after getting moved. No more shop available, so its in the spare bedroom of my apartment parked on a double thick slab of OSB.

I've been waiting to post up my tool box till I actually went through the whole thread. I finished it up last night, so I took pictures this a.m.

It's a Craftsman box. The bottom box was originally my stepdads, mom bought it for him for christmas one year. She wanted to know what he wanted for Christmas, and he had just told me weeks eariler about the box he'd like to get for work.
At the time he was an electrian at GE ( now retired) and they push their tool carts around the shop when they work on things. The box to the right of mine is the box he was using, he figured he could put everything in the bottom box he gave me and leave him with a work top. In adddition, he started to build a cart for the bottom box to fit in.
When he gave it to me, I sold my other Craftsman roll away, intermediate and top box and bought the top box shown. I later added the side box, accidently order one with quiet glides instead of the ball bearing slides.

Here's a look side the top box, left side drawers.

Apparently I'm having some issues attaching pictures. I really don't want them on photobucket.
