Good deal on that triple bay. It's an older model but its stout. I would have bit on it as well for the price. I paid 2500 for my double bay used. It was a series newer but it's an ugly color (teal and gold).

Cause I had to recoup on the new setup I already bought.
56" bottom with dual 26" tops. Standard in the red, metric in the blue.

Awesome box. Awesome price. You did well. I would have snapped that up in a heartbeat. [emoji106]
Its rough though, plenty of dents and bends, hopefully I can get most of them worked out, the rust spots on it though are gonna get treated and probably will sticker bomb it with a bunch of stickers I've gotten from auto shows

Kaizen foam project for my toolbox

I'm a fan of Beta's hex and torx T-handles, but wanted a way of storing them nicely in my top 'portable' small toolbox. I laid them out on the bench to see how they might nest together, along with some 1/4" bit sockets:

View media item 90051
This looked promising, so I drew the tools up in CAD (Rhino3D, v5) and produced a CAD file for my friend at work who scratch built his own CNC router (he's a smart chap):

We did a test cut on scrap foam to dial in the speeds and feeds, before going for the whole tray. He used Vcarve to go from my .dxf CAD file to g-code for his router:

View media item 90050
The end result turned out very well:

It was less work doing it this way, even accounting for the CAD time, than the hand-cutting I did for the 1/4" socket set drawer in the same box, which took for ever:

I'll probably do my 3/8" drive drawer in one of the step-up boxes next. Kaizen foam is cool, although it does reduce the number of tools per drawer quite a bit. This isn't necessarily a bad thing if the box is to be hand carried between workshop and the car from time to time.

Fanders, that looks awesome! What brand are all the 1/4” bit sockets in the first picture? As a machinist, I use little bit sockets all the time, and would like to find good sets like those.

Re: Kaizen foam project for my toolbox

The 1/4” bit sockets are ‘Expert’ brand, from Stanley Black & Decker’s stable. They’re nothing special, probably Chinese or Taiwanese but fine for home use. For better hex bit sockets I’d probably go Snap On or Stahlwillie.

Expert is MAC's budget brand. Like Snap-On's Blue Point or Matco's Silver Eagle.

In the US, that is. I'm having trouble finding a good history of it, but Expert came from the merger of Britool and Facom I think, which became Britool Expert. Later on, Facom/Britool/Expert was acquired by/merged with Stanley, which then later merged with Black and Decker. So now, all of those brands belong to that stable with MAC. In the US, MAC is the main distributor of Expert I think, but my understanding is that in Europe they're sold as Britool Expert and Expert by Facom.

In other words, Expert seems polygamous.

Who's on first? :wtf:

:lol_hitti

Yeah, Stanley owns so many tool companies it's all a mess as to who, what, and where. I showed my MAC guy a new USAG impact that is sold in Europe and costs 30% than the identical MAC. He had never seen or heard of it. Both owned by Stanley...

Got the box settled into place, fired the sticker cannon, and got tools put in, got extra drawers for now, enough room to expand for awhile though, some slides need some TLC and I might rearrange the tools again, I already had to get into it and couldnt remember where stuff was put8ed47d00604a24b2abb764912a125a3e.jpg

Good news is your bottom middle drawer won't leak but with the felpro sticker I'm seeing some sealing issues in the future on that top drawer :bounce::lol_hitti

Stickers are less work than paint stripper, and cheaper than paint, they hide the paint cracks and rust spots

Don't listen to these guys... It's your box, do with it what you want to. Personally, I like stickers. Although I do not currently have any on either of my two boxes.

Unfortunately I do not have a stash of stickers to rifle through.
I'm not a sticker hater lol, I have bunch on my tool cart along with a collection of Rock Auto magnets. But my box I just got not too long ago is spotless, only thing I have on it are my ASE recertification magnets. But I agree to each their own [emoji16]

If it's nice I dont usually put stickers on it, but this box is from 95, and has seen better days, or would have seen them if it was wiped off every now and then

I'm just messing with you man it's a nice box. Hell I have stickers on my triple bay 6s with hutch and it's pretty clean already. To each their own, if you like it it's all that matters I get **** from some guys at work about it but I look at it 10 plus hours a day.

Also if someone can tell me how to post pics I'll take some of my box and cart and post em up

I use tapatalk and theres a big square with a plus on it when creating a message that you can use to attach the picture but I'm not sure on the web or journals app, and I'm not worried about being razzed about it, I didnt want to sticker it but I didnt want to repaint it more, lol
I have one sticker on my box at work that I had bought to irritate a tech that lived at home because his tool bill was so big to afford a place
It says "not sponsored by mommy and daddy"
In the top left of the hutch on the front, he tried to get me in trouble with HR about it, they told him theres nothing they can do lol

^^^^Sounds like a guy who has more issues then just a high tool bill, running to HR!!
Well hes 23, has never worked for anything, his parents pay his phone, insurance, car payment, and food, hes half bald, married, what we think is his lost twin sister, doesnt have the attitude it takes to be in a shop, cant take jokes, he cant diag simple air, electrical, fuel, or engine systems, replaces entire systems because he cant diag them, and usually causes more problems than he fixes, parks a 28' pup trailer on a peterbilt hood with less than 50k miles, tried using a forklift to move a yard dog and pushed the forks through the radiator, installed an axle in a semi and used a 1/2" stubby impact for the u-bolts, cam back within 300 miles from its stop and lost the axle, and was caught peeing in the shop bay drain instead of walking 10 feet to the bathroom, and has only had 2 write ups, hes a nuisance and a liability, and royally made fun of all the time, he put scratches in my old stainless top while I was out of state for training, i only got my tools put into the box, and top sat on and then left work on way to Arkansas, came back and my top was so scratched it had burrs sticking up, so I got a rhino top and hutch and that sticker
I got brought to the hr office the next day and was talked to, I explained that it is talking about me, and if it offends someone then maybe they should make better life choices

Love the color scheme on it, wish mine was that color instead of black/chrome. It is blasphemous to have that Snap-On sticker on there though [emoji1787]

Love the color scheme on it, wish mine was that color instead of black/chrome. It is blasphemous to have that Snap-On sticker on there though [emoji1787]

I buy all my nice matco stuff from snap on lol that box and a maxgo scanner I got from my snap on guy. On the second wide drawer is a snap on name plate that my boss got me for my birthday lol. Wasn't my first choice in colors but it's really grown on me over the past few years.

I have been short on tool storage for years and finally was able to go pick up my dream box last Saturday, the old 1999 Snap-on KRL1003B on the left. Lord willing I will soon be loading this box with tools from 3 other tool boxes, several file cabinets, 3 wall cabinets a Lincoln workstation and many other various nooks and cranny's around the shop. What I am looking forward to most is getting most of my tools organized in one box and the organization it will bring to the rest of the shop. I have enjoyed seeing all the boxes here and how they are equipped.
