I got a new welding cart/toolbox to go with my new welder today. Vulcan brand. The steel and drawer slides are nice. Paint is a little soft.

Just replaced my very old acetate handled Craftsman screwdrivers with Wiha (couldn't handle the vomit smell anymore) and had a stroke of genius while putting them away that may help someone else out.

I bought the set of precision screwdrivers last year and with nowhere else to out them would just set then on top of the rest of the screwdrivers. It was very inconvenient as they needed to be moved everytime time I grabbed a normal screwdriver (easily the most used tools in the box). I had some neodymium magnets lying around and simply taped them to the back of the the plastic tray for the precision screwdrivers. They now sit out of the way in the lid and are very easily removable if I need to take them with me. Velcro or something similar would work too.

I can't believe it took a year to think of this, but thought it was worth sharing for someone to apply the idea to something similar and utilize the otherwise wasted space.

What brand of cart is that? Looks nice and think it might fit my needs.

I find it funny that guys or gals, buy a welder and get set up for welding and fab work yet go out and buy a cheap flimsy cart. Build your own.

Just got the 44” HF box. Haven’t seen pictures of them besides a 26” HF box so thought I would share. Still haven’t decided if I’ll build a worktop to span across both. The 26” is a 64434 version and the drawers open all the way out. The 44” is a 64446 version so the drawers don’t open all the way. I’ll post more photos of it in the 44” HF thread here.

Best indication I’ve seen to date that shows the 26” being about a ½” taller than the 44.

Is it a difference in the casters?

26” casters measure ~4 5/8” and 44” measure 5”.

26” height measuring from bottom lip to top going down front middle over the lock is 33 5/8”

44” height measuring from bottom lip to top going down front middle over the lock is 32 7/8”.

Those measurements do not include thickness of rubber top mats.

Can you link me to the 44 HF thread? I've searched and can't seem to find it. Thanks for sharing those pics!

Well my new toolbox has arrived!!! A little over a month of waiting too. This will be my forever box. I had custom ordered this box and it is a 1 of 1. Has bedliner power top, blacked out wheels, and all the pieces that were either stainless or chrome were sprayed with bedliner. The main color is Storm Grey with the orange trim.

That is super cool and I love the color scheme.

Quick question, what happens if you get a flat? Does the box tip? And how much of a ***** is it to steer?

Not sure about the flat tire part, lol. Seems very stable so far. And it steers very nicely.

Thanks Everyone For The Compliments!!

It has a tow bar that you steer the box with; just like a little red wagon.
A tow/pull bar WITH a brake handle!

Have you always wanted a pit cart or do you move the box a lot and need it? Always curious about who buys these and what their use case is.

I am in the process of restoring a KR537/557 and debating selling it when it's finished for this exact reason. The value of the HF boxes is just hard to ignore.

Building a simple cart can be quick and only take a few hours, if all you want is basically a few shelves on wheels.

But if you want things like drawers, cabinets, and other complex features, it quickly becomes more sensible to just purchase a cart.

For what they cost, the carts from HF aren't bad. I've used one.

The brakes are applied when the handle is in the upright position. Has a pair of disc brakes in the rear.

As for wanting one I never had the intention to. I was going to get the work center and a full size locker for my then current box but for only $1800 more I could get this Pit Wagon.

That looks like a pretty amazing set-up. So what’s the benefit of pneumatic tyres? I guess it’s easier to roll than solid tyres on anything other than a perfectly smooth floor?

I like the orange color

Thanks. It was on the truck for a steal.

That is a damn nice setup. I think you have more Snap On than I do. I don't even have a Snap On box.

Thanks, my Snap On dealer gives me truck credit on anything I want. I don't even have a Snap On credit account. I've been doing business with him for a while that they let me get what I want.

I try to get what I know I will use the most in Snap On, everything else is Tekton, which is still great tools. It's taken me a couple of years to get what I have now. I really enjoy using my tools. It's a simple setup, but works for me.

The work boxes. the remline is my main box, with the meat and potatoes of the trade. the kennedy is most company owned tooling but i own the box, and the bottom is a worksmart i got for cheap because i was overflowing. it holds all the vise/chuck jaws i rarely use, my nice parallels and 1-2-3 blocks, spare and rarely used tools, stuff like that. my 0-6 mic set and some catalogs are in the gap between the bench and red box.. I am jelly, you guys have some really nice stuff.

I think it was more of a bang-for-the-buck thing. He said he was going to get the hutch and locker anyway and for not much more he gets a hutch and 2 lockers on a more solid platform.
