I love the bench, and the story that goes along with it. Awesome!
+1 How awesome is that?

This workbench came from a factory my Dad worked in for over 40 years. They closed down and I purchased it at auction last year. The Wilton 400 bullet vise and work light were from his workbench. This thing looked terrible when I got it so I sanded down the top with a belt sander gradually working down to 120 grit. I intentionally left the imperfections as I feel they add character. The bench top was then topped off with 5 coats of Minwax Antique Oil Finish. I cleaned the grease/grime off the metal bench parts, vise and light and left them alone otherwise. I finally mounted the vise and light on it this week. Now it's time to get it dirty again.

My bench, made from scraps. I have gathered lots of inspiration from this thread before I built mine.
Looks like the Wall Control stuff...metal and has both pegs and another slot type hole, pretty cool stuff.Nice Bench! how about some closeups of the pegboards?

I assume its the toolboards you are talking about..
Any clue who the manufacture is? I have a rolling car with matching drawings.
Mavawreck, The drawers were made by Hallowell and are marked on the front. I'm not sure if they made the entire workbench though as the other Hallowell benches I see when I do an internet search look different.

Thanks, I had to google pegboardsI assume its the toolboards you are talking about..
They are normal metal boards with accesories I can get in almost any hardwarestore around here. There are many other types of accessories that I dont have. I prefer to hang the most used tools on the wall instead of keeping it in drawers. I think it is easier and quicker to access, but I like the looks of clean walls as many of you have. The rolling chest are filled with tools, personal safetygear, power tools, air tools etc and other stuff.
Just bought a house and still cleaning things up, but finally got the pegboard up with a light and a shelf above that for some storage.
homebrewer as well, so the kegerator is right next to the bench![]()
like i said, still cleaning up and moving in, but needed my tools out for various jobs.

No I don't have a picture of it, so it might just be my imagination.![]()
Mostly anything that breaks on the farm, plus quite a few old Honda motors and carbs get rebuilt - I seem to collect too many old XR-75's. At the moment I'm refurbishing a few old whirlygigs that need a little TLC.
Just finished this lightweight, mobile workbench prototype. Not for pounding on things, but will be handy for laying things out and moving them around when I need space again.
Rebuilt one of my benches from the old shop and installed in the new shop. Removed the old pegboard and millwork top. Replaced the pegboard with 1/8 Aluminum pegboard and replaced the tops with 1/8 #4 finish Stainless. Now I can finally get on with my projects.

What type of grinder is that? Never seen one like it before.
SAWEET!. Where'd ya get that aluminum pegboard at?. I've been thinking about doing something like that for my bench but the smaller panels I know of would look ******. Thanks.
And since I've never posted my bench in this thread. I'm thinking about doing an overhead cabinet with the pegboard for her.

Here is the most recent of 3 benches. Picture was from before I started using it.
is it just me or is my shop the messiest out of all the pictures I've seen... embarrassing....

We had a few sheets of .125 5052-H32 Aluminum left over from a job we ran years ago. So I wrote a program for one of our CNC Turret Presses and punched the panels out. They are custom made.
I punched a hole pattern around the out edges and welded tabs with Pem nuts on to the tubes making up the bench and screwed the panels to the tabs. The whole process from design to completion took about 6 hours to fabricate and install the 2 panels.
The Bench was built originally back in 2000 for my old shop. The rebuild involve making the new pegboard and new Stainless tops replacing the old plywood/polyurethane tops (I love stainless).
I am converting all my benches from wooden pegboard to Aluminum pegboard. Have 2 more to go.
Very nice bench BTW...
This bench works great. It very heavy, I'd guess about 500lbs, 1/8 steel plate top over 3/4 plywood and 6x6 legs. A bit overkill but that's the way roll.
The retractable wheels with a scissor jack on each end make it possible to move with ease.
A great addition to my new shop.
Later,
SteveM
Are you a or were you a 12v installer? Looking at the stickers on the box it looks It.
