I too am interested in the success of the 889LM. Can someone report their experience please??
Most have already got replacements, is this a 2nd wave your talking about?Hello,
Has anyone been notified by Liftmaster?
I received an email yesterday out of the blue from Liftmaster. They included a link to obtain the new version 889LM Wall Controlled.....ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGE and FREE SHIPPING(limit one per owner). I clicked on the link and it took me to their website. I filled out the form, entered the promo code they provided and a new replacement controller is on its way with tracking number.
Possibly their way of doing a recall.....without doing a recall?
Either way, it works for me.

Yes, sounds like exactly what we did for the first wave, thanksIt may be a second wave.
I also had all mine replaced, but I still received an email. So I got an backup just in case. The link went to their website(accessory section). I did have to enter a credit card but it wasn’t charged. They sent an order confirmation with a zero balance. I did register all my openers with Liftmaster after I purchased them. I sure that’s how they tracked me down.

*limit one per customer, might have to call them, I have 3 openers!
Its been up so long they may have taken it down, worse case you will have to call in to customer service and plead your case, they should cover you. IMHOThe link to to the recall page doesn’t work. Any other online links that could work?
I have that problem with the remote led light not going off same with the old bulb light..... not sure how to fix it.I had gotten the new controller maybe a couple years ago. Everything worked except the remote light would stay on at times. Finally, I replaced the LED bulbs with some incandescent bulbs and it's worked perfect since.
I have a new 8500W with the 880LMW controllers. I just had put in 3 months ago on both doors. On Monday morning wife walks into the garage and says door was left open. I know for sure I closed. I check the log and it opened on it's own at 227am! unreal. checked the camera's no cars on the street, dead silent. This is very disheartening.

That is correct... did not report back when it fried.Pretty sure the original failure pattern didn't report to the app.
Hoping this isn't a new & improved problem.
I breezed through this thread, and while I saw many complaints of the controller failing by opening the door unexpectedly, I may have missed what's happening to me.
Is an early warning sign of controller failure, that the light never shuts off after the door is closed?
I experienced this situation and have always uses an incandescent bulb. Cycled power on the light and controller, symptom remains the same - light stays on after door closes. Motion sense feature disabled at initial install.
I've unplugged the light and haven't had any issues with the door opening unexpectedly. Is it just a matter of time?

I don’t use WiFi, remote, nothing as this is my shop and only open via the wall controller...so, is there a simple not smart fancy liftmaster wall controller that is more reliable?

For those with 889LM controls, and who still have occasional random door operation, or lights that come on and off for no reason, the problem may be electronic interference. Either from nearby identical controllers, or other cheap chinese electronics nearby. or both. In the photo, two of the wall switches on the right are wi-fi switches, with two adjacent 889LM controllers on the left. The rightmost controller has randomly turned the light in it's associated circa-2005 Liftmaster opener on randomly since I installed the controllers a year ago. This winter, the door associated with the controller on the left opened randomly a couple of times. I certainly couldn't put up with that, so I made a little aluminum foil shield to fit between the controllers, and the door hasn't opened except on command since. A week or so ago it occurred to me that the wi-fi switches might be causing the random light activation/deactivation problem, so I added the baffle on the right, and the light has worked perfectly since. I need to come up with a solution that looks a little less ghetto, but the aluminum foil has worked great, and cost nothing to try.
