Bryan, thank you!!! I brought in your picture on my phone (along with my 4 year old girl so I looked respectable), and they agreed to price match. I was $111 out the door with tax.

Thanks again,

Slow.

Here is receipt and sale sticker for the Lincoln Port a Torch set.
nu4y2aqu.jpg

Note: I got additional 10% military discount, so it rang up at $94.18

I called another local store here in Easton, PA. They have in stock but not discounted. It had another item number associated with it and I was told some stores are not carrying it any longer and are discounting it, but the Easton store will continue to stock, but at the regular price. So it was just a lucky hit for me, but still, some stores may drop it too. Also, there is another set Lowe's carries online without bottles that retails at $199, Item #: 486625 Model #: KH777. It comes up online. My set is the KH776 and came with bottles. May have to do with the trend that bottles are usually leased and not owned.

can you see the tiny n below the bar code. That means it is going to be a non stock item. That is what the store people tell me. The bottles are worth over a $100.

Same here... thanks Bryan. They price matched (their clearance was showing $200+) and I used the 10% off, $98.80 out the door! :)

I was going to have to pay someone to cut the tabs off my bucket when I switched my loader to SSQA, now I can do it myself. Wonder if those tanks will last (obviously they come unfilled, I know) long enough to cut off both brackets. I haven't done O/A since high school.

If you search the KH776 model you get item #98353 to show up.
Sadly it's not discounted anywhere around me.

How do you guys price match? Do you get item then see if cashier will price match or do you ask at service desk and if told yes go get it??

Lincoln Electric Port a Torch 81597 $104.65 Bethlehem Pa. I opened it up. Bottles included.

I pulled trigger and got it. Had associate check local area inventory and several popped up, so it may be national.

The description said it would only weld 1/16" mild steel. Is that correct? IT also says with extra tip and larger acetylene tank it can weld 1/2" material

That's the rating. You can I'm sure do thicker stuff, but acetylene has a certain amount you can take from the tank in a certain period of time. It's rated to cut 1", which is what I'm using it for.

Well my Lowes wouldn't price match, still showing a stocked item and wouldn't price match out of state. :(

Here's one to keep an eye out for : Lincoln Electric Port-a-Torch lowes # 98353
These are $299 in most stores, but I have seen them on clearance in a couple stores in DE. was $104 in one store and $74 in another.

Will be watching for this

Thanks for the info ishiboo
Is it safe to assume you can use the torch, hoses, & regulators on larger tanks?

Odd. The store I bought it from said it was a corporate markdown and non-stock.

Yup!

I believe the place I buy my gas from will trade them for whatever size tank you want, too. I know all tank sizes are $44/year to lease.

John Deere oil change kits - includes two quarts of oil, filter, funnel and a small bottle of fuel stabilizer. Showing item 471955 on my receipt. Normally $31.** - picked up 4 last night for $4.65 a piece. They were unmarked - had a price check and the mower section guy knew they were non-stock and on clearance. When I checked out, they rang up full price. A manager was nearby and knew they were on clearance although they didn't show that in the system. So YMMV even if they are on clearance at your store.

Intersting thing about this, I used the online Lowes stock checker for my area and everything showed 299. Then I checked Arizona and it was the same. Then I checked PA and the online prices were also all 299, including at the stores were you guys bought.
I am convinced I saw this in the local Lowes 2 days ago for 250. I think the online pricing is wrong (for any stores clearancing). I don't think I've seen this before.

Once the stock as been depleted, price goes back up to regular price so it may not show as on sale

Yeah, I've seen that plenty, but I scanned a few hundred stores and wasn't able to find one non-299 example.

Note that they have both flux core and mig wire as you show in your pictures, so everyone pay attention to the wire you buy. I just bought the 178802 0.03 L-56 Superarc 12.5lb Mig wire for $15.05 at my Lowes.

I tried to get a local store to price match the cutting torch, but the tool department guy wouldn't do it. He checked and it still showed to be a normal stock item. Said he sold 7 last year so it was a "decent seller".

Man, my Lowes has been dry as a bone the last 6 weeks, and I'm talking prohibition era dry. Only thing remotely at a lower price was a $1 each hand drywall sander, which I decided I really didn't need even at a dollar. It is so bad, they even took the clearance little area they had and got rid of it completely.

Looks like it's back to my Menards deals thread again for awhile till things improve here. Shoot, I've even finding better deals over at Kmart at the moment... - Paul

Picked up all 3 LED lighted ratchets. The switch just unscrews from the back making it flush with the top of the ratchet. All 3 totaled under 20.00. Also picked up a 1/4nut driver for 0.94. Added the handle to the 1/4 ratchet

Kobalt channel locks are horrible. I bought a 3 or 4 piece kit and only have the 12 or 14" left because I don't use it. The rest slip bad. Tosssed them out.

Browsed my local Lowes, found a few good deals on some Kobalt tools. Also found a good deal on Kreg Deck Jig, I have no use for it, maybe some of you do.
