I wish I would have noticed this post yesterday. I dropped by 2 different Lowe's this afternoon and it looked like a tornado went through the clamp aisle. Not a single K-body nor any tradesman clamps were left. They did have a few wooden handscrews for $5, the small vises had been tagged $5-7 but were all gone while the 5-6" vises were $50+ so they were well stocked. I picked up a handful of 1.5" and 3" C-clamps plus some plastic magnetic vice jaws for a grand total of $6.

I noticed that Wiss snips were on clearance at one store, and the green M2 snips (item 29955) were marked down to $6.99!

So I bought one wood vise last night. When I got home I thought "well, two wood vises can do a lot more than one," so I picked one up on the way to work this morning.

On the way home I thought "surely if two vises are better than one, then three would be even better still." Stopped off at Lowe's and bought #3. Saw that they still had four more 12" double-head bar clamps...figured "what the hell, I got four yesterday, might as well grab 'em." Turned around right before I got to the register and went back to buy the last seven of the larger metal spring clamps, too...bringing my total up to 19.

Good thing they ran out. There's no telling how many of those three items I'd have ended up with.

The other Lowe's on the way home hasn't lowered their prices to match this one yet. I should stay away, but I know I'll keep checking to get the drop on everyone. By the time I'm done, all of my non-ratcheting clamps will probably be Bessey. I have no self-control.

I did manage to not buy the 4.5" vise for $10.57...but that might change tomorrow.

I bought a reg. $48 clamp for $12. I also bought some vises for $12. Lowes and bessey are my best or worst friend.

Was able to pick up (4) 8", (4) 6", and (4) 4" C Clamps, (4) 1" and (4) 2" metal spring loaded clamps, (1) vise grip, (4) Miter Clamps, (1) drill press vise, and (1) 6" vise. All for $100 after tax and 5% discount.

The drill press vise was down to $5 and only the display was left. I asked the tool guy about getting it. After he took it down for me, he marked it down to $3. I started talking to him for a few minutes and he offered any of the other vises for 1/2 off. Ended up with the 6" vise in box for $25.

Just bought a metric ****-ton of Bessey stuff. Fought off the urge to put even more in my cart. Now I'm twitching thinking about the stuff I left on the shelf.

Anyone have any experience with the Kobalt Triple Cut utility cutters?

http://www.lowes.com/pd_498922-22328-87167_0__

Item #: 498922

For $4.98, they seem like a great deal. The Craftsman version is $17.99 for one pair right now. The Kobalt's reviews don't make it out to be a "must have", while the Craftsman's have great reviews. My dad has the Craftsman for 5 or 6 years and loves them. Thoughts?

The Lowe's near me has a ****-ton on a cart with about a 10-15% reduction on it. No where near the 50-75% mentioned. I will be returning to try and catch it when it goes big.

My local lowes had them for $3.50. I pulled the trigger on two sets, one for me and one for a buddy of mine. I haven't used mine yet and he hasn't either I don't think. He hasn't mentioned anything. For the price, I figured, why not.

I keep looking at those cutters but can't think of what I'd use them for. If I had to cut a bunch of garden hose I guess it would be useful, but aside from that I don't know.

My dad swears by his Craftsman version. For some reason, this is his #1 recommended tool for any homeowner. He keeps a pair in his truck, shop, and on him at all times. This is a similar cutter, reviews aren't as good, but at this low of a price, it's worth trying.

If your wanting to get some of the bessey clamps. Better get to lowes I think. One store I went too had cleared anything bessey. And had a full compliment of Irwin on the shelfs

My local Lowe's had the Double Drive extendable ratchet set (409432) clearanced for $4.98, marked down from almost $25. I got one to replace a Stanley I had that was almost like it that I lost somewhere.

I have a Husky version that is near identical to the Craftsman one. Best way to describe it is it can cut things that are difficult with other cutters, in the context of someone who doesn't have a whole toolbox to dig through.

Sometimes they are the best thing for the job. Some tasks they would fail miserably, but you would use common sense and not even want them for those. Most of the time they do a decent job. I also like them for the replaceable blade.

I bought the last vacuum base vise (panavise clone) and drill press vise for about $6 each. Most of the clamps I looked at were made in China, few were Germany.

I saw a fellow returning one that had broken. Maybe he abused it ?

I'm getting ready to build a 40/60 by my calculations I should have a vise every 20 square feet

Picked up following besseys:

3 woodworking vises.
1 drill press vise
1 hobby vise
2 4 1/2 inch vises
2 4 inch vises

Clamps were gone.

The big vises still $56 bit everything else 75 percent or more

Gonna try tomorrow morning for the clamps se what they have left. Last week the we're only down 25% not a big deal if they are all gone, but if they have any long ones I'll get some. What the hell, worth the shot.

Curse you GJers! $86 on Bessey clamps! Ugh! Walked to the aisle - grabbed some clamps - decided I wanted more - went and got a Lowe's bucket - still not big enough - went and got a cart and pretty much cleared out the clamp section except for the C clamps. Got a 4" vise for the future s-i-l for Christmas for $18. Happy camper here! :)

From what I've seen the only thing they're good for is cutting rubber hose. Check out the review on toolguyd, he's usually on the mark.

http://toolguyd.com/kobalt-triple-cut-review/

After foolishly buying a set of the Kobalt Magnum Grip pliers, I've sworn not to buy any of the Kobalt gimmick tools. The Magnum Grips were the big push at Christmas 2012, these shears are leftovers from Christmas 2013. The snake light is supposed to be decent, but the actual tools are garbage.

So I stopped in at a Lowes tonight just to see if the c-clamps were marked down anymore. As I was approaching the isle some guy comes out with literally a buggy full of Bessey stuff. Mostly light duty bar style clamps, plastic clamps, etc. Few single axis drill press vises or whatever. I couldn't help but chuckle. I talked to him for a bit and he directed me over to another area where they had a table of clearance stuff. They had brought out some Bessey quick clamp styles that I've never seen on the shelf. I assume they were new models that never even made the shelf. They had the cases just opened up right htere on the floor. They had 18" and 36" sizes or roughly that for $2 each. I couldnt' resist a couple of those :). So anyway then on another isle I see a couple that also has a buggy with a good number of Bessey products. Too funny. Gotta be quick with this stuff I guess.

Oh, and I got my stuff yesterday before the mad rush fortunately. The 24" Tradesman heavy duty style clamps for $6 and the 40" of same style for $10. Those were smoking deals in my opinion. Also picked up a few of the 8" welding clamps for ~$4. Can't have too many clamps :D

Just hit a different lowes. Unlike the other lowes this one hasn't reduced vises much but bar and c clamps were incredible prices. $159.00 total on vises and clamps. Uggg I left plenty on the shelves but the debit card wasn't expecting a bessey blowout.

Finally made it to two Lowe's stores this morning. Got 4 of those long clamps, older stile ones not the quick release ones, got 6 ratcheting clamps, 4 6” cclamps, 4 3/4 pipe clamps, a hobby suction vise, and 4 smaller clamps 2 corner clamps 1 inside corner clampl and a strap clamp for 65 bucks. That was one store the other store had less stuff and we're not as cheap. Would have liked some of those 50” quick release clamps but no luck ah still happy on my purchase.

Same thing as you guys down here all the vises are all marked down but only 25%, and they have a ton of them in both stores, I see those going going for 20 bucks soon. Good luck hunting

I have a Stanley version of the "triple cut" that takes a regular razor blade... I love it. For some things it's the absolute best for cutting. I don't think it will replace any other tools.

I'm still only lukewarm on these. All china, which may not be a big deal. More concerned about the quick release on the 4". Figured I can think on it for a couple days.

Not impressed with the vises. Passed on last half inch pipe clamp (I don't like to buy one of something, and I'm not a fan of half inch pipe clamps). Don't care for the double head idea nor the varioclipxx thing. Paravise was $7. Large bench vise was $52.

For 10 bucks for a four and a half inch vise it's a good deal I couldn't pass.

I'd like to find an older Wilton or yost and one day I will but for now 75 percent off vises work for me.

I passed on the c clamps with the plastic release.

No stores around me have put Bessey on sale more than 10-20%, yet they are nearly sold out everywhere.... probably a good thing because I told my wife I wouldn't buy any tools this month. After 3 Craftsman block grinders, 3 Gladiator cabinets, and a HF44 box this past month, it's probably a good thing I can't find a good deal on the clamps!

Did you guys not own any clamps at all before loading up on every remaining clamp they had left? Clamps are useful as hell and you never feel like you have enough of them, but holy **** you guys must all have your own cabinet-making business or something.
