Went to pick up one of the saws as my local Lowe's showed 8 in stock. Couldn't find any so I asked the guy in the tool department. He said the employees grabbed them up and just hadn't checked them out. Wow. How nice of them lol.

Welcome to Lowes! I've had that happen almost a dozen times now. The employees get a weird look on their face, and you know what's up.
On that waterloo tool chest deal a few weeks ago, when I went to pick mine up after some stock showed back up in one store, a girl at customer service ran over to the kid helping me when she hears him ask where my order was, and she said in a half whisper "remember, thats what you sold me this morning - you might not have it". !!! Luckily, there had been 3 that customers never picked up I guess, so after almost 45 min. of shenanigans where i got her name, and made it very clear i would be calling someone if it couldn't be found, it appeared. She kept telling the kid "well, the one I bought is already at my house, so it's too late." I directly asked her "does the system let you buy something that a customer has already purchased online?" Get this- her answer was "oh yeah, it doesn't stop you because it's still in inventory until it's picked up". I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and she wasn't very bright to sit and tell me how she basically sniped what could have been the item I had driven a half hour to come pick up. AMAZING. I felt sorry for whoever came after me expecting one since they got a confirmation for pickup, and instead got "ugh, we can't find it, sorry." They need to fire people.
I now know why so many of my online deal purchases get cancelled at Lowes, because its so easy for the person picking the order to see a great deal and swipe it, many times with no call or email that the order was even cancelled. Lowes really needs to change their systems, as it's an epidemic in my area. Buying something after a shift is one thing, but stealing it out from under a customers completed purchase is nuts.
