I just got the air nailers for $67 at the lake county Florida store. I got the last one on the shelf but when I got home I checked online and I could still get another one picked up at the store. Maybe the inventory is slow to update.

Saw the PC drill press is down to 299 again. They have a clearance tag on the PC scroll saw but not much discount. 170 down from 189.

the bosch power box is on sale for 139 now, not the nice one with the remote but the lower model lowes usually sells.

Went to a Lowes this A.M. and they had Kobalt wrenches marked down, but not a lot.
When I went to checkout they asked me if I wanted a My Lowes card or some such thing.
I said no.
Southwire and Buchanan now rule the electrical section.

Its just a way of tracking purchases...unfortunately not a rewards card.

It does have the handy feature of allowing returns based on that instead of a receipt. Handy for those disorganized types.

I am waiting for the nailer kits to drop around here. Still at 130 at any that I can get to.

They have their larger set of made in the usa (from global components) screwdriver sets for 19.** (20 bucks). About the same as the craftsman sets on sale; fit and finish looks okay but not incredibly consistent. They're probably still great screwdrivers.

I have 3 local Lowes and they have the Bosch TB4 miter saw stand on clearance for $180 (regular $299). I just grabbed one and a Dewalt 12" miter saw dw 715 ($200 black friday special). Looks like they are going fast, as they had several last week and only a few left this week. Not sure if this is nationwide, or just in my local area (North Florida).

For $380 total for the stand and miter saw, I am happy. There are better saws than the 715, but a man has got to know his limitations ;).

They are doing the Dewalt stand (I think it's the 724) free with a Dewalt miter again at my store. Double check that you aren't also entitled to one of those. Even if you don't use it for the saw, it makes a great base for other tools or a portable table, etc.

Grabbed two Kobalt 18" cast iron pipe wrenches for a couple bucks each and a 24" aluminum one for something like $1.79. Everything was made in China but for about $8 for three wrenches, I'm not going to complain. This was in the Brockton, MA store- not sure if this is chain wide or what.

Soooooo.

I notice that the vast majority of Lowe's prices end in 8., except for big ticket items, which end in 0.

There are also a few that end in 4, 7, and 9.

There might be some kind of code with this, like one of them being a seasonal item, one being a local special, one being clearance, maybe. A lot of stores do that. For example, Target ends everything in 9 except for clearance items. When a price ends in 4 at Target, it will never go lower.

Let's get this thing cracked. I would guess that everything ending in 8 is a regular stock item. Like, if it ends in 8, they get a replacement for each one that they sell. Same with 0, but it's bigger stuff like higher-priced power tools and appliances.

I think 7 might be a special non-stock item, like stuff they're only carrying to sell as Christmas gifts. A lot of the stuff in the ad ends in 7. Crappier brand power tools, drill bit sets, some socket sets, etc.

well for example, HD & Lowe's both sell the same 23" Stanley foam toolbox. HD sells for 23.97 so its cheaper. Lowe's beats it plus 10% so that's the default box I buy when something needs a case. There are probably a few other items that work that way but they are getting away from carrying common tools.

Yes this was a little backwards; see below.

Sure.

HD
Lowe's

Looks like the HD price is higher now than used to be. I know at one point they were 1c off because the HD prices are 97 & Lowe's are 98. Also depending on the stock, you can get it in Fatmax, Bostitch, or just Stanley branding.

Here is another version; the above is the 28" (that's what I meant before) this one is the 23", you can get Wal Mart to price match (maybe beat by a % I don't know) the Lowe's price.

Lowe's
Wal-Mart

These boxes are very nice, they're not too heavy and have a water seal. They're not indestructible, but I'm well over 200# and I stand on mine all the time. I store and carry bench grinders, all manner of hand tools, etc in them with no issue. One of the 23" I have had banging around in the trunk of my car for years and years with no negative effects.

Those foam toolboxes are FANTASTIC. They need to offer a version with all stainless hardware and I'd own a million of them!

FYI, with amazon's current promo, you can get:
the 23 inch at 3 for $50 or
the 28 inch at 2 for $60.

Which seems pretty good.

Why are these called "foam" toolboxes?
