bmwpower, it was your set up that triggered the kitchen design we will have. So thank you,
Also, how does the adjustment for work on yours for the floor? Screws, or shims? NM..read your thread again...shims. And damn, what a cool shop! Great attention to detail.
As soon as I have time, now I need to go through another 15 page thread!
That was a long time ago. Do you have any recent pics? I'm interested to see how it looks after 7 1/2 years of use.
PS, it would be nice to see a little mess too!
Holy ****! That's like 40 grand worth of cabs and stainless!![]()
And to make many people VERY unhappy I feel I must share my tale of woe...
At the company I previously worked for from almost the first day I began working there, I had admired and kept my eyes on a Lista-esque workbench (I couldnt find a label on the sides I could see, but it looked like all of these pictures...)
Unfortunately, our site was chosen to be downsized. After the downsizing was announced, the engineers began the process to choose what to keep or not, I requested and was assured that I could have that bench if they didn't keep it. I knew that I wouldn't get the flat file cabinets that they had, I was about the 10th person in line for them.
Weeks of waiting for a decision turned to months. I watched as thousands of dollars of New and/or used components, tools, computers, office equipment, etc. was simply trashed. I ended up with a LOT, and probably assured my induction to the hoarder hall of fame but I only WANTED one thing if it wasn't going to be kept. I wanted that workbench.
Despite repeatedly being assured that I could have it if they didn't keep it, their Manager decided that the ONE day I wasn't there was its last day. It HAD to be gone no matter what and putting it in my office was NOT an option. Despite being assured it was mine, IT HAD TO GO! The next day I came in, saw the bench was gone and went to find out what happened to the Bench. I almost cried when I was told that they chucked it into a dumpster...
Admittedly, I had no clue how I would have managed to cram it into my 2 door coupe but I was determined to save that bench and would have sacrificed the sunroof glass and paint on the roof to drive it the 65 miles home. Instead, some scrap hauler made a killing.
Driving down the highway the other day I spot a 60" cab in the back of some dudes truck. Flag him down and convince him to sell it to me. It wasn't hard as he just bought it 10 minutes prior and already had buyers remorse. He even delivered it. $200. 60" x 60" x 30" VidmarGuys, over the last few months, I've been finding myself thinking about a Lista setup over the traditional "tech" tool chest. I've saved a few pics of my favorite setups for reference for my build. A couple of these shots are from members here, and they are a fantastic setups IMO. If the members have a problem with the pics i've used of theirs, shoot me a PM.

^I love this one with the roller cab! IMO, this is the best of both worlds. It can stay and be used as part of the stationary system, and then be taken to the bay you're working in.
My search for Cabinets starts today.![]()
I thought I would post a few more pics of LISTA workspaces. We are seeing all of the dealerships that are either doing renovations or new buildings going to integrated workstations for their technicians. The manufactures are basically mandating this new approach.
Car dealerships have really notched up their service operations to current state-of-the-art in everything they do. Most of these new generation Lista workstations have integrated computer systems with direct factory networking and diagnostics, lift pumps inside, tool storage, trash storage, cart garages, and lot of other tech centric features.
For the most part, the manufacturers, dealerships, and customers no longer want an old style shop with random toolboxes, benches, trash cans, etc. With labor rates well above $100 these days the customers want, and rightfully deserve, a professional shop in every aspect including how it looks.

Being a machinist and in the aircraft aerospace industry for nearly 30 years I've had a lust for Lista's for decades. But those are for deep walleted people who can buy new. Used ones can be gotten for cheap especially surplused. My company throws out perfectly good older ones ALL the time. And we can't get our hands on any of them. Pisses me off to no end. Including perfectly good machine equipment as well. Mills, lathes, sheet metal equipment, you name it. Horrible to see. My company recently bought hundreds of new cabinets from Lista. Seem cheaper then used to be.
We just designed and installed this LISTA gear in a home shop for a race fanatics. This is additional storage and work spaces to an existing LISTA bench and toolbox area. The big lower cabinets have roll out trays while the upper have adjustable shelves. Lots and lot of storage for supplies and spare parts.
