Lorddiesel,

Lista has 5 different toolbox colors and 10 standard colors that you can choose from. There are also some additional colors not listed that are available upon special requests. They will also do a custom color of your choice but that might get expensive because the powder coat material will need to be sourced.

http://www.motorheadextraordinaire.com/content/21-lista-colors

Our standard discounted price on that cabinet is $4865.69 and our GJ member price is $4719.72 plus freight.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Joe

Joe, Is there any options to change the drawers? I don't like the 10" drawer at the bottom. Could it be split like this? I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet. but pretty soon i hope.

There is no need for them. I like to store all my blow mold cases in my side lockers. The take up way too much room in drawers.

Personally I don't use drawer bigger than 7". I put things like grinders and buffers in them.

I never thought of this too much but will have to ask around at Lista about the use of deep drawers in a toolbox. I am sure that the use of a deep drawer had some specific requirement.

Having said that, I just confirmed with Lista that we can swap out drawers on the Tech Series Toolboxes. The only caveat is that the price gets slightly adjusted. In other words the cost of the 10" drawer is deducted from the bill of materials and the replacement drawers are added into the bill of materials. There is absolutely no surcharge for this service just bill of material adjustments as specified.

So in this case a 10" drawer uses 275mm of housing opening. We could swap in a 150mm (5") and a 125mm (4").

The GJ net price on a 10" drawer is $288.66, $218.68 for a 4", and $227.42 for a 5". This nets a $157.44 GJ cost to make this configuration change.

I hope this clarifies this better.

We have always reconfigured standard Lista cabinets which in reality a Lista toolbox is with just a few minor adjustments like cooler looking casters, a sleeker push bar and some special toolbox only colors. They also have some optional drawer handles; polished, satin, and black drawer handles.

My own toolbox is a mash up of two Lista cabinets, six swivel casters, and a slightly over sized worktop. It works really great for me.

My employer is moving and we have a bunch of Lista cabinets that are not being moved that I am lusting after. I know several other employees want the cabinets too, but I don't think they realize just how costly they are new. I am pretty sure they will be offered to employees before a liquidator buys what is left in the building. The building is being demolished and basically only computers/phones, files, and personal effects are being moved to the new place. Everything else gets salvaged or goes in the trash.

We also have a 16' long section of Lista shelving with lots of drawers, but I have no idea how that will be handled as it has to be dismantled to get it out. I would need to rent a dock truck to get that home if I was able to buy it.

What make is that? is it a Canadian Mfg?

The top box is a Beach manufactured Canadian Craftsman. I swapped out the one deep half width drawer for 2 shallow ones.

The bottom box is a KRA 4107 with a few extra drawers, the mid box is a KRA 4860. Both American made.

We've been redoing portions of our lab to update it and make it a little nicer for visitors and the higher ups. All lista, most isnt very interesting, just new work benches and carts, and this batch of stuff showed up this morning for our next improvement area.

not very impressive, but im now a believer. Here is the work bench I just built around a 5 drawer equipto. My equipto doesnt have some of the features that lista has like locking the drawers if one is open. But I dig it. Top is a 96"x30"x1.7/8" and the shelf is from my old equipto work bench.

After a ton of research, careful consideration of options and 2 months of waiting, I finally got my Lista boxes today. I can now officially say, "I have more space than I know what to do with", though I'm sure that won't last...

I also bought a bunch of drawer dividers that I haven't really figured out how I'm going to use just yet:

Before, all my sockets were crammed into one drawer, with the 1/4" sockets spilled over in a second drawer. Now, I have more room than I know what to do with: (I will likely re-organize them -- just wanted to see what they looked like in the drawers)

A huge thank you to Joe from Motorhead Extrodinaire who sold me the cabinets. He helped me dial in the exact configuration I wanted and was a pleasure to work with.

Also, some random thoughts based on my initial impression of the cabinets:
  • The build quality is just as great as everyone on here has always claimed. Very high quality cabinets, casters, rollers, etc. Everything is top of the line. (and it better be, given their cost)
  • I ordered the double-wide cabinets (DW) and am surprised that Lista doesn't seem to sell drawer liners cut to fit. They appear to want you to use 2 liners per drawer, which I find surprising and mildly disappointing.
  • If you buy new, make sure to use Lista's shipping option. It's expensive, but any damage is covered. One of my cabinets arrived with some minor damage and, at least so far, it appears to be a very painless process to get things fixed.

Of course, now I have to figure out how to organize everything. (a nice problem to have) But wow, I love these cabinets!

That's a nice looking bench you put together. The beauty of mix and match works great.

They have liners cut for DW (Double Wide) cabinets.

where do you work at Stooge? Do you have any old Listas?

Instron ITW in Norwood, its a tensile testing manufacturer.
im not sure what tey are doing with the old benches and chests, some is lista, some is just misc. Stuff from industrial suppliers. Usually if someone in the dept doesnt "call" something, its included in a silent auction that are almost always running and that money is given to our charity committee and they donate it to local charities.
