So, I have had a cordless angle grinder for a long time and I have never used it for extended grinding. I love it but I just use it for quick convenience items. If it needs real grinding the cord versions come out. I have multiple grinders with different media on them and just don't see the battery version replacing all of them. I already sort of feel my cordless grinder is bigger and bulkier than the cord versions and don't want to add a giant battery to it. Just my opinion obviously.
Maybe a little more juice for my single battery circular saw would be nice. I have the 36v saw and wouldn't want to put bigger batteries on it and make it heavier. I would probably run a bigger battery on my sawzall for some things.

Oh yeah, circular saw, recip saw, I think any higher-draw tool can probably benefit from larger batteries.
Unfortunately I have to use Milwaukee for work, as I’m not the one buying the tools, but on the job site almost everything we use is cordless, and the grinders kill 5ah batteries in probably a 1/4 the time of a 12ah.
Even on an impact gun, sometimes a 9ah is nice when you have 432 bolts to tighten
Again, that’s just my experience with Milwaukee, I don’t work my Makita’s that hard at home so I maybe can’t make a direct comparison.

Cordless mitre saws, table saws, compressors, etc would all be an ideal fit for these bigger batteries. Those are applications where weight isn't an issue but runtime is.
Now before someone says it, yes you could also run corded versions of those tools. And that's what I do, but there seems to be more and more cordless.

Assuming they'll come to the US market, I'm curious how they'll be priced. The 6aH batteries are pretty expensive.

Man those 12aH's are chunky when you put them beside the smaller ones.
I was surprised to see that Makita is just getting into the cordless framing nailer game this year. I started researching them because I need to build a shed later this summer, along with some future basement finishing/wall construction at our new house.
I'm tempted to pre-order the XNB03Z through Acme Tools. Price is $399 for the bare tool, but there's a promo going on right now where they also give you two 5ah batteries. Seems like a decent deal...

Damn, I was going to jump on that but you gotta buy the circular saw too.
Does anyone have a good source for Makita parts? I've been using some "parts direct" site but it takes like 2 months to get anything that they don't have in stock. Any place that can get obscure parts (circuit boards, switches, etc) direct from Makita quickly?
Shoot... I didn't read the fine print on that one. Sorry for the confusion. While I wouldn't mind having a cordless circular saw, I don't really need one. If I bought the kit to get the nailer and batteries with the idea of selling the saw on Marketplace, I know I'd just end up keeping the darn thing when it showed up.

Picked up a 12v automotive charger. More so for disaster preparedness than regular use. Older style but not too concerned about individual cell balancing when the SHTF.

My heated jacket/vest came with the original model ADP05. Instead of two USB ports, it has a single 2.1A USB and a 5.5mm jack that connects to the jacket. Its been used occasionally over several years for charging my phone remotely. Very handy and quality has lasted.

Was at my local hardware store last night...The biggest I really use is 3/4" drive to get wheels off my Father in Law's diesel pusher, but wow, the 1" d-handle impact is a monster:

We finally wore out the bump head on our XRU09 as well. Parts list is clear as mud as it looks like it could have come with up to 5 different style trimmer heads.
Through process of elimination, I think we have the B-05119 trimmer head. We need a new spool Item 4 and spring Item 3. All the parts listings come up as no longer available although I did find some new full heads. The end of our spool looks like it just wore thru completely and then the spring ejected and that was that.
What did you end up buying and how do you go about locking up the shaft so the assembly can be replaced?

I found this Makita spool with a different part number but it has "B-05119" buried in the part number which happens to be the part number of the trimmer head I think I have....

Still looking for trimmer head for the XRU09, but I did RTFM and it shows how to lock up the shaft and remove the head. Directions confirm the left hand thread that @engineer2 mentioned.

Good info! I bought a Makita 197296-3 Bump & Feed Trimmer Head, M10 X 1.25 LH from Amazon and it was the exact replacement.

That model number head appears to be scarce has hen's teeth just like my believed model B-05119.
I will call Makita customer service this morning. Wish one could buy direct from Makita.

Spoke with Makita customer service. Guy confirmed that the XRU09 trimmer has a M10x1.25LH thread.
He said that the original head was a 197296-3 like @engineer2 bought and not the B-05119 like I suspected.
Regardless, both of those heads are discontinued and individual parts no longer available.
The replacement head is 191R00-0 which claims to be an easy one to install new line. Align the triangle pointers, slip a measured length straight thru, find the middle of the string and make sure it’s centered in the head, then wind the knob.
Reviews on line are mixed. Found one at the orange box store for slightly less than $30.
Wife weed whacks, so I will patiently wait for her report.
Customer service guy said any head that has that thread form would work. Surprised he volunteered that.

my fingers it’s not a POS. Oddly on the bottom it’s stamped “Italian Design” so not sure if Makita is preemptively deflecting blame?

This week I got this SideKing 3.2 gallon backpack sprayer. Comes with a 2.5AH Makita style battery and charger for $75. I've had the Makita 2.5 gallon in my shopping cart for about a year, but it runs $175 and the reviews aren't that great.
I got this and used it for about 30 minutes the other day, and I just gotta say why did I wait so long??? I've been fighting with a pump sprayer for years - and this thing blows that out of the water - literally. I shot a full tank plus another half tank through it - easily, quickly - it sprayed great, it's not noisy it's got variable pressure. Other than the dorky sky blue color I love it.

Not sure how this is on a National level, but two of my Home Depot's have clearance on Makita XGT Chainsaws and Leaf Blowers going on right now:

I bought one of these, it showed up in what appears to be a perfectly sealed package just like your picture but I can see through the plastic that it has been used. The bump is scratched up and there is grass all over it. Not sure if I open it up and try it or just send it back to amazon and try to get another one. Packaging has zero damage and looks factory sealed to me.

Unfortunately, in the past few months, we’ve also received obviously used/returns from Amazon. It seems the handlers are just allowed to return questionable returned items back into stock. I guess they hope someone with eventually keep it.
I’d return it, personally, of course someone else might end up with it!! lol.

I have it and use it for some assembly work for my buddies stage side gig. It’s awesome. I always get questions from other people that help him when I’m using it because of the confined space you’re working in. That’s where these shine because of the reduced noise and overall tonal difference compared to other standard impacts. If your planning using an impact for a lot of enclosed assembly work, or work in a shop and just want something quieter and smoother, this is a great buy:

It’s a good tool, but the Makita is better for my application. I don’t like the trigger feel, it’s louder and while it’s got a smaller profile, the balance isn’t as good as the Makita. The Milwaukee just doesn’t deliver the power the same way, it feels unrefined. My first reach for projects is always a Makita, but be prepared to be asked a lot of questions by the team red and team yellow squad, they are usually are curious about it.

I run both teal and red in my shop, but this is my go to.. Well balanced and a worthy addition. My hearing has also gotten more sensitive as I’ve gotten older to annoying whines and such.. like cordless vacs and other tools.. tinnitus *****.. the red ones bother me a lot more than the makitas..
