Probably not unless you use it all the time. Even then I'd use what you have until it stops performing.I've been wondering if it worth going from the brushed recip saw to the newer brushless.
Ok Snapped-off meet my Smurf Family and growing.........................Maybe I should take a family photo of everything together.
For that particular tool, i would say absolutely.I've been wondering if it worth going from the brushed recip saw to the newer brushless.
I'll grab a photo tomorrow. I even bought my dad the brushless lxt drill/driver kit in the hard case as a Christmas gift. He's still got the old Makita 7v Ni-mh drill..Ok Snapped-off meet my Smurf Family and growing.........................
They're all perched upon my SKIL table saw, it's nice to have capable family around.

That's where it all started for me in my early twenty's use to use those batteries for my RC'sI'll grab a photo tomorrow. I even bought my dad the brushless lxt drill/driver kit in the hard case as a Christmas gift. He's still got the old Makita 7v Ni-mh drill..
As a follow up… I just checked the tank, and it’s holding pressure at 130 psi.@javyLSU
I didn't see any oil on the outside.
Does yours hold 140psi? Mine drops to 130 in about 10 seconds, and it's down to 120 after about 25 minutes. I'm wondering if it's just the air cooling off in the receiver. I'm gonna give it an hour and see if it continues to drop then I'll start spraying all the connections.
It's not as loud as I thought it might be, definitely a lower tone than some of the ear splitting oil-less units. I can still talk over it.
Edit: it's holding solid at 120 psi.
That sounds good. Mine won't hold anything over 120. Not really worried about it though. I'm happy with what it puts out for the size.As a follow up… I just checked the tank, and it’s holding pressure at 130 psi.
For what it's worth, I swapped out the 2 couplers on my MAC5200 and it holds solid at 135 psi now. I never did spray any of the connections.Mine won't hold anything over 120.
The older brushed recip saw won't accept the newer batteries with the power level indicator, unless you do the mod.For that particular tool, i would say absolutely.
How old? Is this a non-star recip? The older brushed recip saw won't accept the newer batteries with the power level indicator, unless you do the mod.
See, now the Blue's have you think'n clearlyMakita BJR182, no star. The star batteries won't plug in. I'll have to re-check tomorrow. No biggie, I've been wanting the upgraded model anyhow.
I did the mod about a year ago and the batteries work fine in all my older tools. It’s cheaper than buying new tools. The older brushed recip saw won't accept the newer batteries with the power level indicator, unless you do the mod.
About to get the same kit. What deal are you referring to?I forgot about the 16" chainsaw, been cleaning out the garage and forgot all about it.
well this just got purchased from the Jungle,
The Blue's just make me feel better
i like refinishing things, should of owned something like this a long time ago.
The deal was unreal and box to boot!
PS i can always use another battery but enough with the chargers, i usually just purchase tool only but the BOX!
Oh we Blue Smurfs never reveal our sources.About to get the same kit. What deal are you referring to?
Thanks
It's a hell of a deal. Just 2 5.0 batteries are $200.Still thinking about the 36V 7-1/4 rear handle circular saw kit + free tool for $249 at Home Depot
2x18V 7-1/4" circular saw2x5.0 batteriesdouble chargerbag (so what)Free tool, likely the 1/4+3/8 ratchet. Should be good for auto repairs.I can sell my 18V 6-1/2" saw and the double charger since I already have 2 double chargers.
It's a tempting deal for sure, but I'm not willing to give up my 6.5" 18v saw. With a sharp blade this guy cuts through 1" plywood subfloor like butter. And it's so light I don't mind using it on a ladder or overhead. I already have a corded skil saw for when I need the power, and I just can't justify the 36v rear handle even though I really want it.Still thinking about the 36V 7-1/4 rear handle circular saw kit + free tool for $249 at Home Depot

It looks like they have revised the notch design at some point.I also picked up the XSR01 but the blade is pretty far off from the baseplate indicator. I tried facing the inside flange (spacer) both ways to no avail. Anyone else run into this problem? Makita tech service said return the saw to HD.

This can drill 1/2" or smaller ok, anything larger, well you'll need something with more Umph! When you are feeling blue and just want to chip away the things that are bothering you, or extreme dental work...
Makita XRH01Z

But either way, the blade follows the tab, not the notch recess.
I cant tell 100% from your pic, but it looks okay.
That Max blade is super thin so it will be a little off from the guide line.
Here is a pic of mine with a Diablo blade. Its also a ultra thin blade.
I straight edged the blade body, so this doesnt account for the tooth thickness.
In use, it cuts as it should.
