So guys answer me this please. Is it only me that's bothered by the fact the OP hasn't posted in this thread for a week. Call me skeptical, but things like that bug me.

Hey! I'm still here. :beer::beer:

It will be a couple months until the group buy goes underway. I have been checking here often though so if you have any questions that haven't been answered by other helpful GJ'ers let me know in the thread or PM me.

I'm hoping that with as much interest as there appears to be for this GB, they will surely do better than $1999

I think the number one question everyone has is the price. While even you don't know what that will be, can you tell us if it will be on a sliding scale based on the number of people involved?

Since we have a given price now at Costco of $1999, is it safe to say you'll be able to wrangle a better deal than that? Because if not, then people will just go to Costco instead of going through you, and I think GJ members would rather work with you so you get the credit.

Your are joking right?

He said this is just a heads up post about a group buy MONTHS from now.

Nope, wasn't joking. I'm a vendor on another forum. I totally understand the entire ordeal when gathering interest and what it takes. I also know exactly how important it is to keep it flowing and provide that almost warm and comfy feeling to the group. Follow up and just the occasional wuz up goes a long ways.

I subscribed, and am interested.

I had already advised that the everyday price at costco.ca is 1999.99

This vendor organized a succesful group buy several years ago, at a price point of 1750.00 so I am not worried or stressed out about them following through.

I'm happy to wait and see what the deal will be.

This is really interesting. The most appealing aspect is the portability for multiple locations and storage. My only concern is the lift height. If I read it correctly, lift height is 53" with the extenders. That isn't even 5'.

Other than wheel service, it seems like all work would be on a creeper seat. What are you guys using this for?

Creeper seat or just a roll around seat will work. Could put a nice backrest on it too if you wanted.

At that height, it is more than ample to drop transmissions, drive trains, engines, etc. I hope to be able to do more bodywork on rocker panels for me.

Follow the stated specs required for install and all will be well. Try to cheat your way around them and all bets are off. If you are worried, then why not do it right? Doesn't make sense..

I am not proposing to skip the part of doing it right ;) I meant to do this in addition, I dont see any issue with this causing problems its just an extra security precaution. It would be best if this additional plate was welded to the base but that would make it far to complex to move around. It could be possible to drill extra holes to attach the additional plate to the concrete, then weld pegs coming up to bolt the maxjax to it, and of course to still put the maxjax into the concrete as additionally designed. However thats probably all extra overkill :)

In a few weeks when I am home I will have a look at my concrete and see what a mess that will be or if its already good enough... hopefully yes because if not then I have to convince the wife to let me go sawing up the garage floor lol

So I think it would make sense for this group buy to get underway now so fall/winter projects can as well - :) Just sayin...

No...just hoping for a model that has more than 48 inches of lift. That maybe just enough lift to get my 1984 C20's factory suspension and tires off the ground considering the drop when they are unsupported

I love the idea of being able to roll this system to the side of your shop when not in use. The one model listed on the website seems to be limited yo only 48" of lift, which is at least a foot to short and lift all the way to 6 feet would be great if possible.

The way I see it....If the manufacture is in here I may as well ask.

^^^ Uhhhhh. Not really the place for plugging other lifts. The OP clearly says this is for a Maxjax. Danmar makes other lifts but they are not the subject of this GB

^ ^ ^ ^ Agree. Would the great gesture if above RIF RAF posts were deleted. This thread is MaxJax Group Buy . . . . plain and simple.

If I had my garage ready for lift, I'd be in this deal as well. Just not ready.

Just my opinion here, but it seems like running a group buy on a new, high lift, model would be the perfect way to subsidize your new tooling and setup costs. MaxJax has a good reputation here so it would be nice to see them step in with a product that would eliminate the interest in the other brand from the other thread.

Wes

PS: I went with 14' ceiling line in my shop with open trusses. My last garage had 9' ceilings with sheetrock so I certainly see the need for MaxJax original design. I think you'll find that is you build an easy to move lift system, there a many buyers out there with a semi-large and tall shop that would like to purchase so they can bring the lift to the needed car stall and still move it out of the way when its not needed vs having multiple lifts installed and always having to work around a permanently placed lift.

:dunno::Again. This is not the thread to make off topic suggestions. If you look at the 6 pages of posts, there is a lot of interest in the maxjax which, again, is the topic here. Wrong tree.

Considering that this thread was started by a rep from maxjax and I am asking that he kick around the idea of a higher lift model that could be made available in this group buy, I fail to see why two posters in this thread are demanding I remove my posts.

Yes, another poster linked to an old thread about a different companies system, but so what...maxjax makes a great product and I think the fact that I am asking them to make a high lift model instead of buying the other companies product should speak volumes about what I would prefer to purchase as well as the other poster who joined in with the link who also appears to be waiting to see what maxjax can do.

This is your thread, if you feel my posts are a problem, please send me a PM and I will delete them.

Thanks

Wangstang, we make plenty of high lift models for professional shops or home use.

The reason the MaxJax is unique is because of its portability factor, but also that it will fit in a very low-ceiling home garage environment.

The higher-rise lifts you seek can be found on our website www.dannmar.com. The MaxJax, however, is designed with a low height because it fills a niche where people who have very short ceiling height are able to put a fully functional 2-post lift in their garage; as opposed to resorting to mid-rise lifts that have sub-par under-car access.

I will definitely consider bringing up a full-rise lift group buy in the future, but when we think of group buys - we think two things: first MaxJax, second GarageJournal. It is kind of a tradition, and it has worked well for both sides for a long time.

I appreciate your interest in our other lift models, and thank you for the suggestion! Let me know what you had in mind and hopefully I can get a deal for you just for being a GJ'er.

Hope that helps! If you need any more information be sure to PM me, I will gladly answer.

This thread has been high jacked.

Would you recommend the Maxjax for someone with 12 foot ceilings? How much more expensive is a regular lift? Are higher lift, portable jacks available. I'm not sure all of those questions are appropriate for this thread, but a lift would be nice, and I'm poor, which brings this jack into play.

Great Deal!

I consider mine some of the best money I've ever spent. Recently repaired the engine on my friends 1974 Buick, MaxJax lifted that BEAR with no problem.

Is that the maximum lift height in the above pics?
Yes the Buick is at full height, the ceiling is 8' 10". Height is perfect for brake / suspension work. Working underneath on a roller seat is comfortable.

The photo above is a bit deceiving as to height, I'm posting a different angle below, they will give you a better perspective.

I was asked if the stands are required, the answer is no. I used them in this case to add a bit more stabilization to a very long car but this is by no means a must do. I also like those stands to support various components while working. They hold up exhaust systems / suspension parts / transmissions when removing cross-members and much more.
