Just ordered mine (not that those guys out west are even out of bed yet lol).

I really need to find something else to kill time with...this site's gonna cost me a fortune in both money and time (did the rocksolid floor promo: only took the better part of a week to get the floor in condition to put the stuff down) lol.

UPSHIFT,

You did such a great job taking care of GJ members with this group MaxJax purchase (Thank you by the way), any chance you can get us some GES stickers?

I have a Dannmar 4 post and the manspace oil drain and it just seems wrong not to have a GES sticker on them!

I would be happy to drive by and pick some up and put them in the Garage Journal sticker swap box on its next go around. ;)
(Sticker box thread) http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94374

Thanks

Thanks Upshift!

I just placed my order 5 minutes ago. You saved me enough money on the lift to buy the Liftmaster 3800/8500 opener that I need to go with this.

Again, thanks for taking the time and effort to offer this deal to us.

That's my idea as well, and will yield the best results, but if Danmar has one already as an accessory, I'd order it. Might be worth producing.

Vegaman_Dan,

Sorry we do not have any Covers.. Thanks for the idea, I will see what is available when the smoke clears.. Would help a lot as the Post has plenty of Grease that will pull in the dirt and dust when not in use.. I would probably approach a Company similar to the feedback from our Buddy Junkman..

Thanks as Always,
Gabe

Head over to an awning manufacturer or a boat cover manufacturer, and give them the dimensions. Allow an extra inch or two to make it easier to get over the top of the columns, and have them install a very long brass zipper the entire length of the tube that they will fabricate. I suggest Sunbrella material, and having the top of the column cover reinforced on the underside. Shouldn't be that expensive to have made up, and the Sunbrella comes in many colors.
I have both the Maxjax (thanks Gabe) and a Bendpak 4 post lift. You can't beat the quality of either, and they have made my life a lot easier, as I have gotten older.

I would be curious number purchased in group buy.

As a business owner, I would say that this is proprietary information, and wouldn't be disclosed. Sales volume is particularly sensitive information that could only help a competitor to have this knowledge, and for this reason, I doubt that you will ever get an answer to your question. The only one outside of the company, that might have a justifiable reason to know this information would be the manufacturers liability insurance carrier.

Suffice to say that a previous group buy some years ago generated enough interest to justify doing it again for the company.

I'm just glad I have one on order.

Reappearing here after my account apparently vanished. I took part in the GB and would like to thank UPSHIFT for setting it up!

And Junkman, with all due respect, allow me to be somewhat skeptical about the value of disclosing a single sales number. Not that obscurity is a great business plan to start with, but number of units sold in a group buy?

My first post here. I ordered my MAXJAX and hope I enjoy it as much as everyone else seems to. Thanks for the groupbuy!

If you count everyone one who posted that they bought one, and them ask everyone else to post who bought one, you could get an idea of sales numbers.

Also , I officially nominate Vegaman __Dan for the first set of covers off line... Free of charge for his good idea!

Great product suggestion!!

Aww, shucks!

Still, it would be a good branding opportunity to have covers with a big ol' MAXJAX printed on them. Lots of surface area to show off.

Just got The Call. Delivery confirmed for tomorrow / Wednesday. Guess I'm working from home tomorrow. I'm impressed by the quick turnaround.

Since the GB is well over I don't think it would be threadjacking at this point to say I would also be interested in other products from Dannmar being offered in a group buy, specifically in the lower cost four post lift category.

Congrats to all who are soon to enjoy their maxjax.

Got mine installed, all bolt holes drilled and set. Pump unit's reservoir is leaking a little from the drain plug even though it's tight. Might drain it, check for any problems with the threads before taking action.

I've run the arms up and down several cycles, bled the unit. Haven't tried anything yet, it's after midnight! I'll try the Cushman and then my S10 pickup tomorrow.

Got mine friday, installed it this weekend. Looks sweet. So much for the unmarred rocksolid floor lol.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, it came with an admiral 9000 instruction manual. I used the PDF from the danmar website but you might want to check on that in the future.

Kamesama980,

We always choose the nicest crowd to pick on in our business for some odd reason, that's how it always seems to work.. Murphy's law ??? :dunno: Sorry for the mishap..

Got mine today, but a few QC issues prevented complete assembly. Sent GES customer service an email, hopefully I can get things worked out. Suppose I could always break out the grinder, but since this didn't come from Harbor Freight, I'm hoping I don't have to.

Do you have the carriage slid ALL the way up and the rod retracted ALL the way into the outer part of the ram? Try going at it at an angle from the side? mine didn't go in when the ram was square or when the rod wasn't FULLY retracted either but doing so fixed it.

oh man it looks like a tight fit. looks like you could just tilt it or turn the connector a quarter-turn and it would pop in. hm good luck!

I had that issue but it was easy to solve- there's enough wiggle room if you slide the carriage to the top of the column, slide the cylinder into that and then down to the hole. Wriggle it side to side and it drops right in without any problem.

Also, open up the bleed screw at the top of the cylinder. Looks like yours is slightly extended when it doesn't need to be.

Trust me, it will work.

Ya, I tried lots of wiggling and cylinder was a short as it was going to get. The issue was the hole in one of my cylinders was drilled/tapped at an angle (the other dropped in just fine). Talked to Gabe this morning and he recommended simply leaving the fitting about 45 degrees shy of the final rotation and then tighten it down after slipping through the hole. I was a little concerned about possibly over-torquing the 1/4" ****** on the reducer in the cylinder since you can't control which of the three joints would be turning, but gave it a try and it seemed to worked fine. Hopefully I'm leak free once I get up and running fully.

Good

Bad

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/96266474@N03/10434001916/" title="MaxJax by cdtersteeg, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2806/10434001916_119831ae98_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="MaxJax"></a>

Together

I must have got a "Friday build" since the axle on my pump cart was also welded off center, preventing both the washer and e-clip being installed on one side. Not a big deal, don't think I'll be taking the pump cart out on the track.

To much

Not enough

I received mine this week and have unpackaged everything. I was a bit surprised to see what appears to be 7/8 holes in the base plates. Is this new, or were they always this size?

I understand we want some play as placing the anchors precisely may not be possible. Why would the instructions say to pilot with a 5/8" drill and then remove the base instead of just drilling them 7/8" to begin with?

with no pilot hole the drill bit will tend to 'walk' and give you an elongated hole. I've found a smaller pilot hole works better 5/16' or 3/8". this will keep the point of the larger bit centered for the final hole
