What was the adjustable flow valve that you went with? I just got done rebuilding my original maxjax cylinders and noticed my far right side colum/cylinder lifts faster. Does your adjustable flow valve only work one way when lifting and then when you release it is full flow? Would love to see which one you used. I'm trying to decide which one/where to get it.

Thanks,
-Nigel
sorry @NewShockerGuy I didn't see your post I'm sure you figured it out..

I have this one as my left post moves faster than the right as the right has a longer hose...

I'm looking at getting a Max Jax for my 8' ceiling height garage and had a few questions. Does anyone know how far from the back edge of the base plate the hydraulic cylinder is that sticks out from the top as you are lifting? I have a couple of beams that sit lower at approx 80" running the length of the bay I'm planning to install it in and wanted to make sure they wouldn't interfere.

I've also got some very deep cuts in my concrete running right below these beams. They look like relief cuts. Any reason I couldn't cut out and place thicker concrete pads in the middle of these cuts? Would I be causing other issues elsewhere in the foundation doing that?

Thanks

I'd have someone who knows concrete come and take a look at it. There is no reason you can't cut a section of concrete out and pour a new footing for the MaxJax, other people have done this with great success. You just want to make sure that when you cut into the existing slab that you aren't going to cause an issue with the structure. Pre/post tensioned slabs come to mind. The other thing you may need/want to do is tie the existing slab into the new footing with rebar. I'm not an expert on concrete so thats why I say to have someone who is an expert with concrete look a it and give you some advice.

Its ~6.5" from the edge of the rear of the MaxJax base plate to the start of the hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder wiggles back and forth so I pushed it as far away as possible to make the measurement the largest it can be. I guess you also need to add in the thickness of the steel column, just realized I didn't account for/measure that. I measure from the edge to the steel upright and then added the distance from the other side of the column to the cylinder.

Yeah, I was planning to have that section of concrete cut so I can put a thicker section keyed into the existing slab. I don't think it is post tension according to the DWG I have (which doesn't 100% match the build). I'm more curious to understand if interrupting the relief cut will be an issue or not.

Thanks for the measurement. I'll try and find some time to check the layout again. The column doesn't move/raise right?

The M7K manual is available at https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/...ft_5900304_Installation_Manual_A4_11_2024.pdf.

Page 4 says "No MaxJax Anchors are permitted within 6 in. (152 mm) of expansion seams, control joints or other inconsistencies in the concrete"

Page 29 has a spec for concrete cutout & re-pour. I followed this spec when I installed a M6K.

The main structure/column doesn't rise, just the hydraulic cylinder.

Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah that 6" requirement is what's also driving my need to pour some new concrete pads. I'll see if the concrete folks have experience in splitting control joints like that. I guess I could oversize the reinforcement slab so that any anchors installed in it are >6" from the edge/control joint.
