Got em home…a pair of wartime Willys L134s. One complete and free, the other partially stripped and locked up. These things were headed to the scrapper…thankfully I had a wild hair and asked the right questions.

I’ve done a little more digging on the two L134 welder motors I drug home.

Neither has the industrial head, both have non ribbed “Jeep” marked heads. One is a short boss, early engine with a 638632 block casting, and a 581158 serial on the pad on the side of the block. The other is a late replacement engine, with a 4LR serial and an 804380 block casting.

Not that any of that is relevant, just interesting.

Guessing they haven't made one of these engines in 70 years. Just as well save what you can.

The last L134 was built in the mid 50s...the locked up motor I have there is one of the last ones made as replacement parts.

The value in these is in all the external parts. Bracketry, the oil filter setups, pulleys, oil pans, etc.

chances are it's probably been rebuilt at some point in the past at least once
Oh, they’ve both likely been through a few times. The one that’s going in my flatfender is bored .040 and the crank turned .040/.050.

I’m tempted to tear them both down, have the heads and block maganafluxed, the heads surfaced, and the blocks hot tanked and sell them as known good items if they check out.

I sure don’t need to be storing them for the next decade(s).
