That's very unusual, Menards is almost always cheaper than HD/Lowes.

Menards has a 110% price match policy. If you find something cheaper at Lowes/HD, they'll match it and give you an additional 10%. This comes out of their manager bonuses, so they actively price shop other stores and mark down things to match - these are sometimes what the red price tags mean (though they also mean clearance/nonstock).

Now this will work thanks I never new about their price match policy.:lol_hitti

Got my 2 free 6 in 1 screwdrivers.

I've already got a ton of 6 in 1's but I can at least use the insert to extend life of the nicer ones I've got.

Wife say's I own a collection of them LOL

Yeah I got a pair of those too, they aren't the best but the price was right. My son just turned 3 and he loves tools. I put together a box of Menards freebies for him that included a 6-in-1 driver, a tape measure, a torpedo level, and a rubber hammer. Turns out I could have kept the hammer for myself since he prefers to beat on stuff with the level.

I've got a stack of the Tool Shop 7 1/4 in saw blades going, I picked up a 3 pack for .96 last month and then I got 4 for free two weeks ago. Since I use my circular saw about once a year these should last me a loooong time.

My wife teases me about the Menards freebies but the store is on my way home from work and it's fun to stop in once a week and search out the FWR items, it's like a treasure hunt and is a good stress reliever.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they are all china. Felt pretty flimsy when I took a a look at them on the shelf.

I guess they may have always been China COO on them. I was thinking of maybe buying some MF pliers back in the bag sale, but when I saw the China COO, I passed on them. I did get a pick set MF though, which is USA and high quality. I don't know how good the MF pliers/cutters are. Anyone get these and care to give a review? China COO can still be OK quality, depending on who actually is the supplier and their quality checks. I look at GearWrench, which is now mostly China COO but still good quality from their supplier and how they manage them. - Paul

I do the same thing at the various stores where I am, every couple weeks anyway! Shopping therapy is fun! Where I am there is a Lowes, HD, Menards, HF, and Sears all within 5 miles of each other and on either side of where I work. Pretty convenient. - Paul

Scored 7" Knipex Cobras for $24.27 on sale and 10" Cobras for $26.97. I didn't even know they sold Knipex. They aren't even on their website.

I had no idea they carried these either. Hmmm have to check those out. These are at the high end of cost for me though. I like Channellocks generally as very good but lower cost, and US made. Have to respect Knipex quality and function though as well. - Paul

If I didn't already have the 2 free Irwin pliers from Lowes when they had their trade in event I'd be all over these Knipex pliers with my giftcard.

They also now carry Knipex electrician tools, and are located obviously in the electrical tool aisle. They started carrying them about the same time Lowes clearanced theirs out.

What is interesting is they aren't on their website at all yet. I might be tempted by their electrical tools when on serious sale price but Channellocks are fine with me for the locking groove type pliers. - Pual

Well, pretty much midwest. Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and some out further each direction. You can see on their website where their stores are.

So yesterday I went in and my store does not carry Knipex! I didn't think they did as I would have noticed that. So we have to figure out if this is a one off thing or other stores carry that brand too.

I ended up getting a 4 piece 2.5" paintbrush set for less than $2 after rebate. Will come in handy. And some of those free after rebate 6 in 1 screwdrivers. They don't look terrible quality and will be good to throw in the car dash for function with minimal space. That was a nice freebie. - Paul

Did you look carefully? There are VERY few Knipex items.

Our stores have two Cobra pliers hidden in the rest of the pliers (on sale right now), and one needle nose and one other pliers in the electrical tools also mixed in.

My store does but you have to really hunt to find them, some side cutters and needle nosed pliers in the electrical tools section and two sizes of Cobras mixed in with the other pliers is about the extent of it.

Stanley 5 Gallon 4.5 Peak HP Wet/Dry Vacuum, Sale Price: $29.97
http://www.menards.com/main/tools-hardware/power-tools/wet-dry-vacuums/stanley-5-gallon-4-5-peak-hp-wet-dry-vacuum/p-2184663-c-10092.htm

From the new March Madness sale:
http://www.menards.com/main/flyer.html?&store_code=3214&hide=catalog,midwestmanufacturing&flyer=flyer&getGoogleKey=true

We bought one a few years ago when they were on sale for $19.99, and of the three we have, wifey likes to use this one because of its small size and weight and has adequate power for most of the jobs that we use it.

Thanks, I'm now convinced that some stores carry Knipex! But mine does not and not on the local website either for my store. I was very careful to scour the electrical tools area and the general pliers areas with no luck. So not everywhere for sure. - Paul
have the hardware desk look up your knipex part #'s of choice, they will definitely show if they carry any and if a nearby store has any

my experience with that pos is the opposite, you summed it up with the word "adequate" but even that it is not, also it spits out the water you are trying to **** up
not worth more than 10$

I love Menards. Spent $95 today, and I'll get $85 of those back after rebates. So many freebies. I bought two door mats. My wife was asking where I wanted to put them. My response was, I dunno. They were free, so I got two! :)

I saw in the Sunday paper a mail in rebate for a t shirt or a hat making it free. Who couldn't use a free t shirt?

I got a free yellow Menards safety shirt last summer at the free Menards contractor's club lunch. I'm not a "contractor", but was invited to join for free anyway a few years ago.

Yeah I got 3 of those doormats, not sure yet what I'll do with them. Also 3 shirts, a hat, two 6-way drivers, two packs of cut off wheels, and a bunch of yard waste bags, all free with rebate! The downside to this is I may have to hire an assistant to keep track of all the paperwork.

I like to give these lights as gifts/stocking stuffers/party favors, etc. (everybody in my office got one for Christmas):

http://www.menards.com/main/outdoor-lights/work-lights/led-worklight-available-in-assorted-colors-sold-individually/p-2031656-c-6405.htm

I buy them on sale, or sometimes substitute the blue HF lights. Anyway, I was in Menard's yesterday and decided to pick up a few. There was a full box of nine lights on the shelf, so I grabbed the box. When I got home and looked over the receipt for the 11% rebate form, there was only one light showing on the receipt. When I checked out, she scanned the barcode on the box, which has the same barcode as the individual lights, so I got the whole box for the price of one light.

Although an honest mistake by the checkout person, if that were me, I would bring the receipt back to the store and tell them they undercharged me for them. It is the right thing to do. Menard's provides so many good deals for me, I don't have any desire to get any by accident.

So this week, I can stock up on a few things not normally on sale again with the 11% off. That is useful every so often! Wish it included the gift cards again though, as I'm running low already from when they did. I don't think my gift card balance is going to make it to the end of the year on plan. - Paul

So I stopped over at Menard's today for their 11% sale. This week: FOOD! I like to stock up when they do their 11% on food things. Also got a few onion sets for planting out in the garden. Here in Indiana, my ground is still frozen except for the top 1/2 inch. But it will thaw pretty soon and then out in the garden. I get most of my seeds at Menards too each year, except for some special custom things I have to mail order that are hard to pronounce, like Giant Kohlrabi (a very underappreciated vegetable, let me tell you). - Paul

Great! I just finished insulating my garage walls, and it's time to start covering them up. Good thing Menards has 11% off this week!
