My menards has a lot of black and Decker drill bits (spades 6.99, extractors 4.88) and wire wheels (.99) on clearance. Used the bag for an extra 15%off. Got all of this for $25. (even though I already have more than enough screwdrivers to last a few lifetimes...its impossible to resist a good USA 6-1 for $6 :willy_nil )

I thought it was a pretty weak ad myself. I didn't bother going there this past week. I think I'll be saving my gift cards again this week. The wire shelving is something I'll be needing but not until I can get into my enclosed trailer for some measurements.

ChiChi's Tortilla Chips 20 Oz for $1.99. How can you say it is weak!? :wtf:

Free after rebate **** and Span cleaning wipes, picture hanging kit, Orange GoJo gallon for $7.99, free after rebate Stanley 6' tape measure, and Knipex on sale. Really not terrible, but depends on what you can use or are looking for, as always. - Paul

I've gotten close to $600 in Menards rebates over the last few months. What's cool about their rebates is that when you redeem it you don't get charged sales tax on that portion of the purchase. If it was a check rebate that you'd have to deposit in the bank or a money credit card type rebate, you'd pay tax on it.

Sure you have to spend it in their store, but if that's where you shop who cares.

Not to mention their expanded inventory and lower prices over Lowe's and HD.

New Super Sale ad out today. Have to look for yourself, but some deals. The 12" 80 tooth MF carbide saw blade for miter saws is on sale for $30. If these are Freud, that would be a good deal. Post what catches your eye. - Paul

For $10 more you can get the 2 pack of 12" Miter Saw Blades! Glad I didn't buy these during the bag sale. The rags in a box are also a good deal at $5.99 after rebate.

The included 2nd blade is only 30T though designed for ripping. Unless you're using it on a Radial Arm Saw it probably won't be very useful.

Yes, Radial Arm but even then really only an 80T should be all you need, as those too are mainly for crosscutting. Really for a 12" table saw, which is a pretty rare beast for the ripping. I would try one of these 80T but I already have a blade for my 12" slider miter saw so have to rely on others for the evaluation of these. - Paul

Good to know. I assumed the 30t blade would be good for rough cuts on dimensional lumber where a fine cut wasn't necessary.

I noticed that this sale ad is good for only 1 week instead of 2 and the sale ends on Saturday instead of Sunday. That usually means there's another 11% rebate sale that starts next week on Sunday.

You can use a small tooth count blade for "rough" cross cutting, for slightly faster cuts, but I just don't do it. I like a high tooth count on the miter saw and leave it on all the time there. Now table saw is different story. Rip blade for rips, crosscut blade for the crosscuts. Radial arm can rip but not really a great idea as it can be very dangerous if done poorly. - Paul

You paid the sales tax when you bought the original items that triggered the rebate. You're not getting away without paying sales tax.

For example, when I get a rebate from Home Depot when they have their paint promotions, they send me a VISA card. When I use that card I get charged tax on that purchase I'm paying with it...I paid the tax the first time on the paint purchase and again on whatever I use the card to buy.

The Menards rebate is in house and they do it as more of a discount. No getting charged tax twice.

Finally made it over to Menards yesterday for recent sales. I found out they have on sale after rebate those MF wrench rolls I like. 2 per person, about $4 after rebate. While China, these are pretty tough and good way to hold a full set of wrenches or nearly full set. They also have Performax cord bags on sale for like electrical cords or jumpers. I've found these a handy way to control the cords, for like $4. And most importantly, Progresso soups only $1 each! We like Lentil and the Chicken Pot Pie. For those who haven't gotten into Progresso soups, these are so much healthier than most other brands but still taste really good. For canned soups, we like Progresso. Dinty More beef stew also on sale, that gets the nod for canned beef stew. - Paul

I haven't looked is there an 11% off sale this week?

Anyone watch the clearence thread closely?

We really could use SPIN over here in the Menards thread! I too would like some help finding the good clearance deals from Menards just as soon as they start to pop up. Of course, this will vary alot store to store and some won't have any of what another store has a ton of. We need some volunteers on the thread to help identify the clearance items of merit!

When you go into "Ray's List Clearance" on the website, if you search on "newest" at the top it will list the newer items on clearance first, followed by older, so if checked a few times a week, can fairly quickly find the newest things there. But you see that is for the one store. So the many members of the thread here and multiple stores has a multiplying beneficial effect to find the good deals, much like the Lowes and HD threads have benefited from. Where I live, I have access to TWO local stores, and another 1/2 an hour away, so possible for me to get something one store may not have but another does. Takes time though to do all these searches regularly for many stores (which I don't really have right now). - Paul

Thanks for this tip. I have a Menards almost across the street from me and another 10 minutes away. There are a total of 8 within a 20 mile radius!

Wow! You are one lucky dude! There are two ways to be rich in this world. One is to actually BE rich! The other is not, but to have multiple Menards in a 20 mile radius! - Paul

The 11% rebate can be a real bonus, if you're into spending a bunch at a time. I bought my garage kit there, and since garages are included, I got a rebate check of nearly 900 bucks, and used it there to purchase all my electrical supplies, which I installed myself. A local electrician told me that's how he keeps his supply-buys his supplies there, which aren't overpriced as it is, during the rebates, then uses his rebate to re-supply. Said he's been doing that for years. I love it there, though mine is 70 miles away.

I wish there were more locations. I have a Lowes and HD within 5 minutes but have to drive almost 30 minutes to either Menards. Since I don't have to drive 70 miles I shouldn't ***** about it.

My last 11% isn't showing up on the rebate site and am not sure how long to wait before I contact them. It's like $160. Luckily I have a picture as backup. I might start mailing it in with delivery confirmation.

I think the longest I ever waited for one after mailing was maybe 6 weeks. Usually 4 weeks or so more typical. - Paul

Every rebate till now has been like two weeks to showing on the website as received. I don't expect the check/voucher, but it's nice to see it received.

I like to see that money, money, money....Oh yeah!

I'm sure as a contractor the 11% is awesome, but I prefer free after rebate. I wish they would go back to once or twice a year for 11%. Unless of course they made it possible to stack sales with the 11% and allow gift cards bought with rebate certificates... Those were the days.

Not really. I think I'll stay home again.

I ended up having to go for work. The $1 after rebate flashlights are pretty nice. That and the coats are all on sale. Not worth a trip unless you are going anyway.

You clearly missed the sale on Ferrero Rocher chocolates, my favorite. Also, Grip 'n Slice kitchen gadget is $1.99, recommended. If you ever need your Dremel to cut wood, they have a tool shop dremel wood circular saw blade set for like $0.99 after rebate. TriGrips for $0.49 each after rebate. All of these are great deals. - Paul
