And here is a picture of the wife standing in the 41 inch model bottom drawer. She was scared it was going to tip over. Im 320, and stood in the same drawer with no issues, other then the box wanting to tip over due to nothing being in it. And it rolled very smooth with her standing in it. She wasnt to thrilled that I was taking a picture of her doing this, in the middle of Menards :) We did get asked shortly after if we needed any assistance. They thought we were nuts.

I was almost sure I was going to buy the 41" top and bottom masterforce box, but decided on Black Friday to buy the Craftsman grip lock instead. which I really like. Even before I saw Stevo's bench build I had a similar idea to build a bench with the masterforce 41" chest. Now after seeing that build which is excellant thats going to be my summer project with two 41" masterforces under my bench. If I had a Harbor freight close to me I would sure look at there boxes. Thanks for everyone sharing there projects and ideas, they truely are inspiring.

68, I ended up with the 56" bottom cabinet, and a 16" side cabinet, then made a nice phenolic bench top to go over both of them. I think the 56" was 699.99, then went on sale for 529.99 plus I used a 10% off coupon when ordering online, and having it delivered to my store. Cant beat that price!!

Thanks guys for the insight of the MasterForce Brand. I found this thread interesting even though it started some time ago. I had seen these at my local (Wisconsin)Menards and was wondering how they stood up. I do wish they had another color choice (Black or Red only so they would match my other boxes in the garage) I had just seen the LIMITED EDITION Black/Green and although it is only 37" I think it will be a great set for my work. (CNC Laser/Mill/Lathe Operator) I dont have so much heavy tools, as I have 100's of measuring devices...ROFL. I think my sockets drawer or hammer drawer would be the worst and thats not even too bad.

Right now, I took the casters off a 24" Craftsman Roller and stacked it on top of another 24" Roller for more room, but I am already filled up. I think it's time to take them home for more storage there and get myself one of the Masterforce Sets. I really like the Black/Green set, but I worry about adding to it later on if they dont come out with more in the future (ie. side cabinets) that match. I was REALLY hoping to find a Stainless Set since I have access to stainless at work and can make my own side shelves like this one pictured.

The only Stainless set I liked was at HomeDepot, but I am leery of spending money there since almost every Husky tool I have bought has broken. Any thoughts on this set??

2 cents here, I have the same Craftsman bottom box you do, and the Menards is far better than that in terms of build, but you already know that since you've seen it in person.

As for the Husky set, I've never heard anyone on the board say anything good about their tool storage units. Can't speak for the particular stainless ones you have in your post but every one I've ever seen at HD was mediocre at best. I'd go with the 37" Menards on sale and be happy with it.

Don't count on them offering any additional add ons for the limited edition black box. From what I have seen it is on closeout now. Not to mention that it is "limited edition."

It's not as well built as the green boxes, but I agree that it looks a lot better and still nice. I really wish they would offer black in addition to the green...

This is how I stacked my 2 boxes at work. Fastened together with 2x4's in the center. Like I said, I am out of room already and all my most expensive measuring equipment (Bore gauges, Mic sets, etc.) I lock up in my supervisors office until i can get a bigger box. I think taking these 2 boxes home will give me a little extra room there too. I dont even know if the 37" will be enough. Might have to go with the 41".

Pure speculation on my part, but given the huge differences between the two designs, the "special edition" boxes were likely a trial run from a different manufacturer, to gauge interest in the different style.

That said, I have been incredibly happy with my 26" combo (I just got the rollaway for christmas, the chest the previous christmas), despite being almost out of space already :)

I have been looking at the Masterforce cabinets at Menards. The one thing I wonder about is the difference in weight between the Masterforce and the US General cabinets. For example, the base cabinets - 41" Masterforce is 230 lbs. while the 44" US General is 302 lbs. Also, if you look at the load capacity for each of the above cabinets, the 41" Masterforce is rated to 1120 lbs. , while the 44" US General is rated to 2633 lbs.

Is the US General really better built than the Masterforce? Anyone who own or used both please comment.

By the way, I'm new here. Thanks.

I believe HF inflates their numbers on the capacity of the US General boxes.

I have been happy with my 26" combo. I'm going to go get a side cabinet to hang on it tonight, since it is currently on sale. Last time I was in Menards they had closeout tags on a few of the masterforce boxes so I don't know if they are changing designs or stopping production.

I stopped in to one of my local Menards stores today. Yes, I said "one", meaning there are three Menards in my city. Anyway, I was suspicious of the fact that a Menards employee at another store told me yesterday that the 56" boxes were being discontinued, then last night I saw that the side cabinets were discounted to $159, which is $40 less than the $199.99 sale price. So, I asked this fella today at Menards whether the deep discounts means that they will no longer carry Masterforce cabinets. He told me that these models were being discontinued in favor of newer models. He said they update their models with new features, etc., every couple of years or so.

I purchased the side cabinet thinking that it was the last one and I want one. There are a ton of the 41" cabinets still available right now and I couldn't get them in my van. I figured that I'd return tomorrow with the trailer. Now I just might return it and go with the US General. I would rather go with a product line not discontinued, so I can get cabinets as my needs require, to expand my cabinet, rather than end up with a hodge podge of different cabinet lines.

The Menards near me has new boxes in stock and the old ones on clearance. The new ones have a latch on the drawers that have to be lifted up to open. Gone are the rubber detects. The top lid is different. They stock green only but you can order black, red and I think yellow. They said it would take a week to get them in. I have a 41 inch I got last summer and have been happy with it. I do wish I could have got a different color.

Im really not sad that I could only get green. Its really not a bad color, and really just fits in the garage anyhow. Its not like its some nasty shade of green

Hey all,

I am new to site and have been reading up on tool chests. I have been looking at the Masterforce 41" roller cabinet to consolidate my tools. This is a first cabinet for me and i am not a major DIY'er, so i may be out of my league here. I like the quality and price point, but couldn't find out if the cabinet has a mat included for the top. Anyone know? What have others done? Cut some MDF to fit?

I'm planning on using the top as a small workspace in a corner of my basement.

Does anyone know if the side locker will fit on the 26" roll cab?

it could do but if have top and bottom boxes together to make good weight so locker could fit on or it could make it fall down if not enough weight to stay stand...

also there is new words that masterforce has 72, 56, 41, 36, 26 toolboxes sizes.....

I had a cubicle top I cut to size. Thick, dense, ****!

Thanks. Did you have to bolt it down to the cabinet top? All the samples I saw had the top boxes on so I can't see if there are metal flanges at the edges to hold on a top or if you need to fasten it down.

There's flanges around the top except for the front.

I have a 56 inch box so the weight alone and tight fit keeps it from moving at all! It truly stands up to a lot of abuse. There are lips around all 3 sides and then the front has small corners. It cant go anywhere

Wow. Nice find.

I'm considering purchasing the 56" Masterforce tool chest that Menard's has on sale right now, and I had downloaded the associated PDF from their site, was curious about any necessary assembly, so I called the 800 number. I really had no idea who was going to answer but the call went to Quality Craft. In addition to being the manufacturer, I guess they also handle any warranty issues, replacement parts etc.

I actually thought I had done some serious sleuthing, but after Googling this line of boxes and following a bunch of the hits, many from this site, it turns out that a few people here had already determined that Quality Craft was the manufacturer of both the Masterforce and Montezuma boxes. There are a lot of threads pertaining to this line of boxes on this site, and I'm sure not everyone that might be interested has stumbled across the discussions containing this information.

I wish they had some of the matching 56" carts available for cheap, but I guess those have all been sold. I bet the discontinued chest would work with the current 56" carts, so if I end up buying this chest, maybe in a few years the current carts will be marked down considerably when the latest offerings are introduced.

These are in fact GREAT toolboxes, and when compared to the craftsman equivalent its GREAT on price as well. I bought the 41" top and bottom combo. Came with drawer liners cut to fit from factory. Ball bearing drawers with locking drawers. At a 100lbs per drawer, It'll hold alot of tools. They at first only offered green, but have expanded to blue, black and red also. If you dont want to take out a second mortgage on the house to get a snap-on or matco box then these are really good boxes.. I recommend then highly. In fact Im going to buy another 41" bottom for work.

I was going to go tomorrow and buy one but I can't find them on the site...... Looks like they have been replaced by only a few options of Excel

You can still find them here but not in the general search. I am wondering if they aren't just changing the lineup or something.... I am going to go in to tomorrow if they are discontinued maybe I can get a deal..

http://www.menards.com/main/masterforce-tool-storage/c-12199.htm

My guess is prices or model changes and the website needs updating. Then again, when I was in Menards, that aisle looked a little thin. Could be they are eliminating the line, but I seriously doubt it.

I have three MasterForce rollers, two side cabinets, and a MasterForce top box, 41". Yesterday while cleaning up the garage, I was moving the box, and all of a sudden it was hard to move. I thought maybe a stick or a stone was under the wheel. WRONG!!!! The tire came off of the rim, completely. I looked at the other tires, and I have two more that are cracked, so I imagine that they will go to **** if I move it around too much more.

The tire itself is molded to the hub, naturally as it should be. This was the box that I had at the shop when I was working, so I guess it is maybe 6 years old, if that. And at the shop, the roller always set at the end of my bench and rarely was moved, so they are actually some low mileage tires.

I'm did take some pic of the damage, but I don't have them uploaded to the computer yet. Once I do, I'll post them on here. I will e-mail Menards and see if they cover that problem. As it is now, I will need 3 new wheels as the other two will go south before long. They have a "Limited Lifetime Warranty", whatever the heck that means. Hopefully it will cover their "High Capacity Casters."

Other than that, I have been totally satisfied with the boxes their selves. No complaint there. So we'll see what "Limited" means in the warranty.

I bought a 41'' roller back in 2009 to replace a craftsman 26'' set. since then i have added a side cabinet and now i'm out off room again. So the question remains what setup to go with next it will be master force again as i am completely satisfied with the quality first and the price is very affordable. I'm thinking a top chest to set on a work bench that the roller is under possibly an additional side cabinet.

That's the reason I bought mine. I've been totally satisfied with the boxed them selves, and haven't had any problems other then the wheels that lost it's rubber tire yesterday. Well....that and the green color. When I bought mine, they didn't have all of the other colors yet. But I've learned to live with it, and it's not so bothersome now. And on the box that I have machinist tools in, I have an assortment of the small red containers that are lie 2"x2", 3"x3", and maybe 2"x4". They all fit in very well, so I can keep smaller items in them, plus I can separate my specialty cutters.
