After 2 years of staring at it in the corner of the garage I finally got the drawers and shelves re arranged. Just need to build a shelf for the top of the drawers then carpet the inside and paint, paint the outside and install a new digital lock.

Picked up a mini mill and lathe from a garage sale a few months ago and finally got the bench framed up and a temporary top on it to get the mill together tonight. Found a couple things while putting it together, it is a micro mark version instead of the HF like I thought it was so it has a few improved features. The down side is that it is an older unit with the 3mt spindle. So the r8 spindle and belt drive will be getting ordered this week with the Christmas money. Got the hold down kit and a 13 pc set of r8 collets for Christmas because that’s what I thought I had. First pic shows how I got them.

Finally made some room now that I have a welder to bring the lift/ welding table home. Garage is resided and they will finish siding the front of the house once the new front door comes in. Then going to try to finally finish the garage ceiling and insulation so I can get some better heat in here for the winter.

Mike, I like the kydex work station. Do you prefer the vacu-forming to the foam and press?

Take it easy,

Depends on what I’m forming. Iwb and aiwb is easiest on the foam press, anything with a curve, or the mag carriers go in the vacuum press. Just got my first butterfly molds this week and may have to modify my insert in the vacuum press or make a swift press.

Picked up a new toy at a local auction, currently sitting at my uncles storage building down the road while I make room for it in the corner and build a portable base for it to roll it into the garage.

After about 3.5 years of procrastinating and getting sidetracked I finally finished the other half of the ceiling. Now I just need to get 4 more lights and some new insulated garage doors.

Been off for 2 weeks and have at least one more so with all of this free time I’m trying to wrap up some of the projects I’ve been putting off. Finally got the parts to convert the mini mill to belt drive to go with the new r8 spindle and decided to throw some timken taper bearings in it while it was going to be apart and finally got all of that done tonight.

Building a portable base for the mill. Structure is all welded up just need to add some tabs for the leveling feet and tabs to bolt the mill down to the stand.

Found these on fb marketplace and made the 100 mile trip with all of this free time, well worth the time and gas.

Moved the mill in today and finished putting the lights up over the door, measured after the ceiling was up and made sure the lights where going to clear the door while it was up but didn’t think to check out towards the wall as the door was coming up until these lights where in and wires nailed up... so this door will stay down unless it needs to be opened and I’ll unplug and pull the lights down.

First upgrade was to get rid of the old work light and get something that won’t be in the way. Repurposed a led work light from menards with some broken magnets from the vac press, will work for now until I can get a nice magnetic base.

Been a while since I updated. VFD is installed on the mill and it runs good. Still accumulating tooling for it. Built a table to hold the extra vice and rotary table. Picked up a power hacksaw and current project is building a franzinator setup for the compressor.

Between work and the heat motivation in the garage has been low. Did get the casters on the welding table. Far from done but now I can roll it outside and power wash it.

picked up an axial scx24 for myself around august/september and got my 5 and 7 year old their own for christmas. we started an obstacle course table build tonight with some styrafoam packaging. the white jeep with all the goodies on it is mine. told them i wasnt getting them any upgrades until they had the steering down so they dont roll them and break the racks off, unless we can make them on mommas 3d printer.
IMG_4369.jpegIMG_4443.jpegIMG_4444.jpeg
while working on the table the little one got a crash coarse on why we dont play with the nipco heater. He was waving the duster in front of it and cinged it pretty good.

got the new ck superflex lead and torch on the welder to replace the crappy stiff rubber hose that came with it. then worked on the crawler table some more, need to wait for the snow to melt and ground to thaw out so we can get some more rocks for the table.

Got the paint on the table after failing to read the instructions on the can of the stone texture paint and wasting 2 cans of fancy paint then covered it all up with primer. Now trying to decide if i want to hit it with the stone texture paint or just leave it as is and just pretty it up once we get it set up in the basement with some grass and trees and more coloring.

Got all of the metal cut and cleaned up the edges to start on the Recluse cart from the spidercarts plans for the kids go kart, and started welding it up this weekend.

Subscribed! Nice Gold wing. I'm sure the fairing makes a huge difference in how the bike/ride feels. I've never ridden anything larger than a shadow, but it would get cold on the morning rides to work

already have plans for bigger ones. figured this would be a good size to start with, should be able to get a couple years out of it before the little one outgrows it. then can pass it down to the nephew.

Made some more progress on the cart, made some changes to the wall storage on the north wall to better manage the material storage. then dad and I took the boys on a little bike trip around the nearby lake and got some icecream.

found a nice piece of heavy wall pipe leaving work a couple weeks ago, made it maybe a mile from the plant and kicked it up with the front tire and punctured the oil filter. walked back and got a new filter and oil at the service center, then the wife picked me up and drove me back out to get it back together.

few projects getting done lately. picked up a hf 2 ton jack and wanted to do the 911 offroad conversion on it but wanted to diy it. found enough material laying around my garage and the farm shop to build it. This jack is intended to ride in the back of the truck full time and be used for roadside repairs. wheels are 600 lb rated casters from mcmaster. Got the jack done now just need to get the truck mount done before we go to NY this weekend.

On to the next project. Picked up a 12v fridge/cooler for the truck on a good sale on amazon. To make it fit the way I want in the truck with the Decked drawers I needed a drop down slide for it. Found some ideas online but most of them are really pricey and only available in australia. so off to the recycling center for some used metal.
IMG_5264.jpeg
Got the drawer slides and gas struts from amazon. welded up the base and mounted the slides and worked my way through it.

2x67lb struts are too much for this... new ones are on the way. Need a couple more shoulder bolts to mount a spring on the handle to hold it up.
