I understand your frustration of people asking the same question over and over again, but I don't feel that deserves what I took as a rude response by you. I unfortunately have been reading this thread regularly, and it has fuelled by tool obsession and cost me far too much money
I was under the impression the you take the %off and apply that to either the original tool(s) or the free item. Example buy the chainsaw kit and get a free battery deal. Its 600 discounted to 400 with the free battery which is 66%. So if I were to return the battery I would get 200*.66 or $133 back. If I were to return the saw kit I would get $400*.66 or $266 back.
In this case it would be 799/1228 or 65%. So the 2767 would be (1228-799)*.65 = 278.85, which sounded high for me so I wasn't sure if I missed something.
Perhaps if I asked the question this way you would have at least given me some credit for trying to figure it out and confirmed my assumptions or corrected me.
Maybe if this is an all to often asked question we should have a good explanation on the first post of as a sticky, unless of course its already there and I missed it. Ten I retract my statement
