Looks like the GT is getting close. The paint looks good in the pictures.
I hate dust in my paint jobs but kind of like seeing it go away with the color sanding before I buff.
Now I need to get back on my Corvette.
Thanks Bobby

Don just checked out your Corvette build. It looks great! Great shop too. I can only dream what it would be like to weld right side up and paint without worrying about chipping the door afterwards if I open it too far and hit my vise. See you have a Mustang too? Keep up the good work Bobby

The corvette is out having custom moldings made up for it while I work on building a custom grille

Mustangs; yes I have a 69 mach 1 and a 70 428 cobra jet in my stable

Looks like you are making great progress on yours

Probably take the rest of the weekend to rest. Start next week to work my way back and in wheel wells to finish outside.

Engine bay still needs a few decals (today). Buck tag and antenna today finishes outside except for GT medallions and stripe and mirror. Leaving them off for now in case I need to buff something I see in the sun I couldn't see inside next month when I can drive her.

I must say you do some real nice work Bobby. That is looking fantastic.

Maybe you'd like to have a vacation in Maine and help me with the Delta 88.

Thanks Dan. Probably going to Maine a little later this year as the first great grandchild is due in the fall. Shure would like to get out of this heat though. Don't forget the show in Paris is on the 16th this year. Wish I could be there.

Got a chance to showcase the convertible at one of the historic plantations here yesterday which is National collector car day. My 66 Mustang and the other 68 Mustang are original mileage cars that have not been restored only kept up. There were eventually enough cars of all kinds to fill the front lawn. We were there early for a photo shoot. Give you the energy to keep going with the work.

I wish I could make it to the show again this year but other obligations have come up.

Those are two sweet looking mustangs. And yes, seeing that does keep the desire going to get your project done.

Let me know when you come up this fall. Maybe we can get that cup of coffee we didn't get to last year.

Thanks 1/2 Cup. I am always concerned about coming off like some kind of pompous egotist because of something I post being perceived as boasting. Self esteem is not a problem but I never want anyone to feel like they are shaded in any light I could give off; only illuminated. I certainly feel the world is brighter knowing there are so many kindred spirits in so many shops and garages out there!

Bobby, IMHO it should never perceived like that, not at all.

You are a bloke ( Aussie talk ) that,

1. loves what he does.

2. does it well.

3 . is proud of what he does.

4 . shares what he does freely.

5 . inspires others.

Let me say this that this is what the GJ is all about.

6 . What more can I say other than keep up the great work.

Regards

Bobby, please do get in touch when you come up. And I find you very engaging and knowledgeable and don't take it any other way when you speak of something. There are plenty of egotist here on the GJ and you sir are NOT one of them. 1/2 cup said it nicely.

Finally got to roll out the red carpet. What a job to get every thing to unfold without touching the side panels and leaving no gaps or crooked lines. Ford did not leave any room for error. I will post pictures tomorrow of the back of the seat up in position as I am still trying to straighten out my hands from stretching out the cover and trying to work with hog rings in small spaces. What a treat! Burgundy is actually richer and deeper color than what it shows in the pictures.

Started building the door panels using original trim that had to be straightened. Nothing you buy any more comes with any hardware. Panels without clips and the holes for them need to be opened off center. Feels like I am building my daughter's doll house and it's forty years ago. Some assembly required!!!!! Like I need more to assemble. Who am I kidding? It's good for my fingers. Gives them something safe to do.

Used a florescent flood light to take the pictures. Can't even see the ripple behind the shift on the tunnel without it casting a shadow. Guess I will pad that area or it will bug me knowing it is there and not contoured perfectly. Don't know why I make myself crazy. I can still hear my dad telling me to do it over until it's right.

Thanks 1/2 Cup. Spent all day yesterday, after I fixed the carpet imperfection, upholstering the bottom of the rear fold down seat. I will get some pictures once installed and once my fingers open and close again. Never had so much fun! Bobby

I'm kind of a late comer to your garage thread but have to comment on some of your equipment. In your early post there is a picture showing a KR Wilson cast engine stand as well as many other Wilson tools. Really great tools to have. The vintage funnels fit in well with the other neat stuff in your shop. Love finding tools and equipment like this, nothing better than being able to use vintage tools to work on what you want. Ed.

Ed I sure do agree. I have acquired many old tools that are all used on the job. Many are KRW also and when I finish the GT I will have more time to add some pictures. Actually have some rare items like shock tools and one KRW wheel puller that no one I know has ever seen for the A model Ford. Bobby

Thanks for the encouragement. It keeps me going when the temp. is 100 degrees and I am killing myself trying to stretch a cover over a seat. Gotta love it! Bobby

Ed did you check out the power hammer I rebuilt? It has a 50 pound hammer and will deliver anywhere from one to four blows a second.

110 degree heat index today. Probably won't get much done if I have any sense. Try to get some pictures of rear seat bottom. Still waiting on parts for the buckets.

Rear seat was a bear to upholster as every seam has a listing rod and is deep in the foam. I do not recommend buying a set of hog ring pliers from Harbor Freight.

I would love to it's killing me. Don't know if my chest hurts because of old muscles or it's my lungs trying to breathe air that is so dense you can cut it with a knife. Shure could use a Canterbury Draft.
