Thanks 1/2 Cup. I don't know if you got my reference to the WIZARD of OZ ?
He probably only 1/2 got it.
Unfortunately the Wizard of Oz was in Kansas, not Down Under![]()
I am certainly no wizard, not even 1/2 one.![]()
"Every man is my superior in that I may learn from him."
I learned years ago that you can learn something from anyone, not just the "experts". Everyone has something to give and something to learn.
In this case however, I love getting 1/2 advice.
She's even talking about getting an electric broom for Christmas.
Actually my wife has been trying to sweep me under the rug for a while. I wonder who gave her that idea? She's even talking about getting an electric broom for Christmas.

that's neat. amazing a dealer could make there own speedo cables. i guess we are just too lazy these days. but then we don't have the correct tools like you do.
This item came from a lawn mower dealership that was auctioning off the tools. I had been an automotive repair shop back in the day then a generator rebuild shop. They never let go of the tools. One family owned it all. You should see the stuff I missed out on.

And speedometer cables have gone the way of vacuum advance. They are still cheap and available but with new cars not using them they will soon be hard to come by.
I'm thinking an electric broom could be a nice corn broom with a built in cattle prod. 30,000 volts to get the husband off his duff.
Thanks 1/2 Got some more pictures I took before the "break" but had to find them. Will post soon. BobbyBobby, that's a fantastic piece of gear..
Dealers in their day did the lot a far cry from now a days.
Regards
I'd like to see that thing in action. So please show us how it works. You'd think I'd seen one before but I have not.
Just subscribed to this cool thread! Still working my way through the old posts...
I have a '29 pickup I am building in my new garage. New garage thread to start soon! Thanks guys
Great. Are you restoring to original or making a hot rod?
Can't wait to see what it feels like tomorrow. Been raining for three days off and on and boy I sure can tell. Roof leaking from hurricane damage and the Ins. is fighting to pay nothing. Read the fine print!! Going to get some estimates over the next few days. It kills me to think about paying someone to do a crappier job than I could do myself if I had two feet.Bobby, didn't you get the letter from your insurance company when they raised your premium? The signature should have been a clue "We upped our income, now up yours!"Roof leaking from hurricane damage and the Ins. is fighting to pay nothing. Read the fine print!! Sometimes you have to do the smart thing and part with some money.
Before one of the half-dozen hurricanes came through here ten+ years ago, I was standing on an upper rung of my extension ladder that was leaning against the palm tree I was about to trim (17-foot pole saw wouldn't reach). I was holding my electric chainsaw in my right hand about to start cutting when I realized I wouldn't be holding on to anything but the chainsaw. Just then a beat-up old pickup truck stopped and three guys got out -- and offered to trim all four palm trees for $40. I told them I couldn't pay less than $50 -- for god's sake did they think I would risk my life for $40?![]()
Keeping it original mostly. I will do some performance mods where I can that are period correct or that don't jump out at you to much.
I plan to drive it everyday for my business here in Austin, Texas. It is already converted to 12 volt, and will have turn signals etc.
Where I started....

It runs and drives!

Hard earned money is just tough to let go of; or for that matter money itself when you could have used it for something fun. Isn't that right Andy!

Bob has a unique thread of logic there. But he is right, it is better to hire some jobs done.
Do as I say, not as I do.
I had a tooth pulled yesterday, it went so easy, I was thinking "I could have done that and saved a little money". Told the orthopedic surgeon "I get a discount for an easy job". He stared at me. I told his nurse "I guess bald men pay the full price at a barber" and she laughed. Maybe he did too. I paid full price.
