Concrete= 40x60 pad, 40x30 apron and slab for man door= 25k

Electrical= what I have paid as of today= $2,000

My electrician installed the meter, 200 amp service and one outlet that was needed to pass the inspection. He is working up a quote for all the electrical I want in the shop. West Virginia does not charge me for new service to the new shop. They will replace my transformer with a larger one and pull 200 amp service to the shop and connect it. They are also relocating an existing guy wire in the way of my current garage. All of this is no charge.

-Digging the power ditch was my excavator and not included in the 2k. In addition, I paid for the stone.

$2800 dig power ditch

$2305 for 3 loads of gravel for the concrete and 2 loads of crusher run to backfill the power ditch.

My wife and I used some left over stone to put a 4’ perimeter on the 60’ sides. We used rocks we have from our property as a border. The reason is to keep mud etc. off the bottom panels due to rain, etc. We did all this by the shovel full in a wheel barrow. Needless to say we are getting to old for that😂 Works very well since we have had several rain storms since. We are going to add additional rock and bring it up to below the metal.

On Sunday we went window shopping for a skid loader 😉

Looks good. I would imagine it's not hard to find those rocks you used as a perimeter on your property. Probably even feels like you're growing them at times. Something with a front bucket/loader would sure come in handy.

Thanks Brent, we have plenty of them. Hard part is digging them up and some are not light. For all the rock work we still have left it will definitely come in handy👍

That's a good idea. I think I'll use gravel on the sides of my building too. I can't request the final inspection of the pole barn exterior build until I have amended all disturbed soil. Thanks.👍

I like the plumb line you set for the rock border. If I did that my 6yo foreman and mastiff inspector would rearrange them shortly after.

We had a ton of rain (3.5") Friday and Saturday, so the concrete was delayed for a day. Shop being done tomorrow 5/11/22 and apron the following day on Thursday. More to come................

just read your entire thread - very exciting and a great looking shop!
A couple of things I find amazing, workers on Sunday, power company that is actually responsive and the price for your concrete work....I'm looking at $15-18/sf here in NorCal....
Congrats and I can't wait to see how you finish it out.

Thank you! We have been fortunate to have great people to work on this project. The electrical company has been great as well and happy to have power done so quickly.

Look at that progress! Impressive timeline, especially compared to some of the builds on here :rolleyes: (my own included).

Agreed, that area looks beautiful. Looking forward to seeing how you fill your new space!

Even better. The enclosed cabs are nice in the winter, but even with the sliding windows open, they are kind of miserable in the summer without AC.

Martin
Thanks. We think the enclosed cab was the better choice and buying something like this I did not want to have any regrets.

Well congratulations on a career path that allows you to enjoy the shop and now the FIRST toy to put into it. Hope to see many more enter the picture.
Thanks Chris 👍 we have others already, main reason for the new shop 😉. However this is the first piece of equipment we own.
